MR N’s #NFL Week 17 Power Poll‏ #NFLNetwork #NFLRankings

NFL Power Rankings

1.           Seattle Seahawks (1) – An uncharacteristic slow start at home was overcome with the characteristic solid D play in the second half.  The Seahawks slowly wore down the Rams and then tore it up and won the game going away.  The beyond the shadow of a shadow of a doubt Best team in the NFL with home field till they play in Arizona in February.

2.           Green Bay Packers (3) – The Packers had to work hard to win the division but they did it and got a much needed bye.  Rodgers was the difference and he single handedly won the game for Green Bay.  They really needed this win and if they get healthy, they will be hard to beat in two weeks.

3.          New England Patriots (2) – With nothing to play for and biding time till their bye the game is going like a hard practice for the Pats early.  The Pats are going through the motions and those motions have them down to Buffalo half way through.  The Pats just decided this game didn’t matter and put the stamps on the envelope early.  Ok we will see how good they are come week 2 of the playoffs now.

4.          Dallas Cowboys (4) – The Cowboys have jumped out to a nice lead against a rotten team.  Romo and Murray and Mother Beating Dez have given Dallas a big lead and this game is all but over.  The Cowboys won the game going away and look ready to battle in the playoffs.

5.          Pittsburgh Steelers (6) – Big Ben was tossing his cookies early and tossing at TD once the game started.  With the O line playing so strongly Ben has all day and looks composed in the pocket.  Out to a nice lead and if they can hold it they will be home next weekend.  The Steelers struggled in the 2nd half and Ben tossed some golden turnovers but when it came down to it…a key turnover and a deep pass and the Steelers will win their division and host the Ravens.  That should be blood on the field next Sunday for sure.

6.           Indianapolis Colts (8) – The Colts have nothing at all to play for (seems pride isn’t part of the Colt makeup) and they are playing like that early.  Luck got untracked and tore up the Titans and now has taken the rest of the day off.  The Colts should be able to hold the lead for the 2nd half.  The Colts managed to hold on and win the game.  Now they get to face a probably crappy team in the wild card but will have to tighten up their entire game to have any hopes of playoff success.

7.         Denver Broncos (10) – The Broncos blew out the Raiders and landed a first round bye.  Manning still doesn’t look like the Manning of 2 months ago.  I think that ship has sailed.  They have good rush O with CJ Anderson and will need to rely on that for playoff success.  The D has issues and their road to the Super Bowl may not be as rosy as last year.

8.         Carolina Panthers (11) – The Panthers brought real game today and dominated from start to finish.  The car accident seems to have created a more mature, dedicated and serious Caaaaaam and he is a leader now.  The Panther O played well and the D was amazing.  A superb win that gives them the division title and a playoff home game (mostly because the NFL is too stuck in its ways to have the teams re-seeded).  I hope they bask in the glow for a bit because it will likely all end next weekend.

9.          Detroit Lions (5) – The Lions battled the Packers right till the end.  They gave their all and played good D.  The offense struggled (as it often does)…two TDs to megatron wasn’t enough for the Lions.  They lost and lost badly to Green Bay and now get to go to Dallas and face a hot Cowboy team.  I see a one and done in their future.

10.       Arizona Cardinals (7) – The team that is doing it with baling wire, duct tape and QB whispering almost snuck another win.  Lindley did what he could with limited ability…he tossed some TDs, he tossed a LOT of picks and they ended up 3 points short.  I think it is not beyond the realm that this team can find enough to go to Carolina next weekend and kick some Panther ass.

11.        Cincinnati Bengals (9) – The Bengals D is having huge trouble with the Steelers O line.  They can generate no pass rush pressure and that is leaving their secondary hanging out.  The Bengals O needs to get more productive fast or they are on the road in a week.  Two picks for Dalton are golden and he should know better but he is what he is.  The Bengals used two key picks in the second half to help keep them in the game and just when it appeared they were starting to gain ‘Mo’…a fumble…a critical mistake by a DB and now it appears the Bengals only reward is a road game vs. Indy next week.  They are just not that good.

12.          Baltimore Ravens (14) – The Ravens are in a win and get help situation but don’t seem to be playing as good as one would think they would be so far.  The total lack of offense by Baltimore is shocking.  How awful is Baltimore to not be blowing this bad Brown team away?   The Ravens got a win and made the playoffs.  Congrats!  You are the worst team in the playoffs in a long time and it won’t take much of an effort to make this sorry team one and done next week.

13.        Houston Texans (13) – Solid D and workable O was going ok for the Texans but a golden turnover has the Texans down.  The Texans have battled back to a lead and the way everyone seems to be playing they could yet sneak into the playoffs.  Well done Houston. You played hard and won the game.  They didn’t make the playoffs but played pretty well.  They need a ton of help on O and keep the D humming and they will be alright.

14.         Kansas City Chiefs (16) – Chiefs need to win and have tons of help and so far are bringing it in this divisional matchup.   Excellent effort from the Chiefs D has the team in good shape and a key early 2nd half turnover could seal this deal.  A gutsy game by Chase Daniels and the Chief D got them an unexpected win.  The Chiefs need to get better on O to have a shot in 2015.

15.        Buffalo Bills (17) – The Bills are going down with the QB that brought them to this sorry state and so far Orton is playing like a vet QB who couldn’t win a game to get his team in the playoffs.  Orton has driven the Bills to a bit of a lead and with New England not attempting to play; this game may belong to Buffalo.  The game did belong to Buffalo.   They didn’t play great but they did try.  A nice win to end the year. It may not be as positive as it could have been as they stunted EJ Manuel with the use of Orton.  Buffalo needs to figure out what they are doing at QB and fast.

16.         San Diego Chargers (12) – In a win and in situation the Bolts don’t have the energy one would think they would have early today.  The Chargers got a TD but are being punished by a resurgent Chief D and are down and facing playoff elimination and the clock is ticking.  The clock ran out.  What a colossally horrible effort that was.  I am shocked and offended and the Chargers should be more shocked and offended.  Terrible effort and it killed off a playoff dream.  Now Rivers may as well retire.

17.         Atlanta Falcons (15) – What can I say about Atlanta that I haven’t already said?  The D is a joke, a bad joke.  They can’t cover, they have issues tackling.  The team cannot score enough to make up for what that group of imposters allows.  An ugly loss that puts their coach out of work.  They have so many issues I wouldn’t expect them back in the playoffs for a couple of years at least.

18.         Miami Dolphins (18) – Dolphins struggling to get O working against a reasonably effective Jet D.  With nothing to play for one wonders how hard Miami wants to play.  The Dolphins continue to play like they wish the year was over.  The Dolphins were never really interested and lost badly.  Can’t fault them as once their playoff hopes ended they all were looking for the door.  Tannehill is the real deal.  There are some comers on D.  They aren’t far off being a contender.

19.     New York Giants (19) – The G-men seem to be wanting to end the season on a roll and are playing tough early vs. their rivals.  Good pass offense by Eli has the Giants battling and they could yet sneak out a morale aiding win.  The Giants couldn’t do it.  Their D let them down.  Well that was quite a year and it may be time for Eli and Tom to have their parade.

 20.           Oakland Raiders (20) – Ah Oakland…they went on the road and met a buzz saw of Denver rushing O and some good D play.  They got blown out and the D got thumped.  Another to put in the OOOPS column.  Carr had a fine rookie year, Hayden is a good young CB, Mack is the MAN on D, and Murray is the RB future.  I am given hope by Davis jr saying Sparano may yet be their coach.  If they keep Tony this team is on the way up faster than if they try to start over with some ‘sexy’ name coach.

21.          Philadelphia Eagles (22) – In a divisional game with only pride on the line the Eagles are playing ok early.  A still up for grabs battle and the Eagles are keeping it competitive.  The Eagles dug out a win and that is a nice way to end a disappointing season.  They need to continue to grow and really need to figure out who their QB is.

22.      Jacksonville Jaguars (21) – The Jags O is having the expected issues with the Texan D but a key pick six for the Jag D has them out in a lead early.  The Jags are still battling but need to get points against a tough D.  The Jags gave their all and kept their heads in the game.  A good young squad that has to keep moving forward.  They are a team with hope.

 23.      San Francisco 49ers (25) – The joke that is SF got a win with some nice early O and D that played ok.  They got the win and they lose their coach.  Who would really want to coach this team?  The QB is not the star that everyone thinks he is.  He has issues and a lot of them are just above his shoulders.  The D is not getting any younger and once badly injured…it often leads to more injuries.  I think Harbaugh will to be seen as getting out right as the sun was setting on the Niners.

 24.      New Orleans Saints (26) – The lost season can’t end soon enough as the Saints have trouble moving the ball early against the lowly Bucs.  The Saints are so bad they are now in danger for being pounded by Tampa.  I think this is as sad as I have ever seen them play since the Saints stopped being laughing stocks in the NFL.   The Saints battled back and got a win.  Now they will fire the D co-ordinator and then face the unenviable task of figuring out the future of a rapidly aging team.

 25.       Minnesota Vikings (27) – Bridgewater showing early how brilliant Minnesota was in acquiring this franchise QB.  Better days are ahead for the Vikings.  Those better days don’t seem to include today as the Viking O is so flat lining that I think it is dead.  They have managed but 3 points against a terrible D.  Finally a TD pass from Bridgewater has provided some life for Minny.  That TD was enough to give Minnesota the win.  They have a future but need to seriously improve the D or having a franchise QB won’t matter much.

26.        New York Jets (28) – The Jets are playing well again in week 17 and it’s kind of funny how they have heart finally after a season of no heart. The Jets are playing well and are going out with a fight at least.  Geno Smith has done enough to prove to me he is the franchise QB of New York.  I just assume this team is too stupid to recognize it.  The Jets need help all over and canning the coach and GM won’t fix all that is wrong here.

27.       St. Louis Rams (23) – The Rams came out and played a very hard for the first half and held a lead for a while.  The lack of O really started to be felt and in the end two field goals were not enough to match the Seahawks.  Good effort but this team needs to keep the D coming on, keep working on fixing the O line and they need to find a QB of the future.  A team with issues.

28.      Cleveland Browns (24) – The Browns had a week of turmoil and immaturity but are bringing all they have early.  The Browns D is playing well.  Connor Shaw isn’t horrible and the Indians are tied with the Orioles 3-3.  The Browns played pretty good considering how sad of state the franchise is in.  A loss and now they need to cut a bunch of first round picks and figure out the next step.

29.       Tampa Bay Buccaneers (31) – The Bucs have nothing to lose and are just playing to make New Orleans look bad.  The Bucs have jumped out to a nice lead and with the D playing hard they are in good shape.  Tampa stopped playing and got put away.  What a team of quitters.  They are in a mess and need to find a direction to move forward.  Who is their QB?

30.        Tennessee Titans (32) – The worst team in the league is playing their usual hard style early.  Can they play 60 today?  They couldn’t play 30 and are down and this may be ugly by the time it’s over.  The Titans tried harder in the second half than they have in a long time.  It was never a blow out and in my view they are no longer the worse team in the NFL.  They need a ton of help going forward and need to get players in who want to try hard for 60 minutes.

31.             Chicago BEARS (30) – The abomination of the season was shown by the first offensive set of downs.  Only the 2014 Bears could take a 2nd and 1 and false start and delay of game it into a 2nd and 11 and eventually punt.  Fire the QB.  The lack of production continues but two field goals have them up by three in an outdoor snore fest.  The Bears again showed no heart on O and barely scored against a weak D and lost.  What a fitting ugly way to end an ugly year.  Fire nearly everyone is my suggestion.

32.             Washington Redskins (29) – The sad sack Redskins are down double digits early on and this could be ugly soon.  The severe lack of D for Washington is still a constant.  The Redskins can’t stop anyone.  The Skins in the end were destroyed and I think they deserve to end the year with the award of WORST team in the NFL.  They need a ton of help on O and D.  What a mess.

There you have it!  As always I enjoy sharing my in game and post game thoughts with everyone!  I also enjoy every thought, agreement, comment, argument…just read it if you like!  I will always take cash, preferably tens and twenties – Charlie Brown’s sister said it first – all she wants is what she has coming to her, all she wants is her fair share!  Happy New Year everyone!!!!

MR N’s #NFL Week 16 Power Poll‏ #NFLRankings

NFL Power Rankings

1.           Seattle Seahawks (1) – It is said that repeating in today’s NFL is the toughest thing to do.  I also say peaking at the right time is critical for success.  I give you Seattle – the no debate, no argument greatest team in the NFL.  The D is healthy now and that O is explosive.  I don’t believe any team in the NFL can beat the Seahawks now.  I honestly don’t think you could build an all star team from the next three and make a team that could beat Seattle.  They clinch homefield next week and then the next time they play on the ‘road’ will be in Arizona in February.

2.           New England Patriots (2) –  The Pats have had trouble defending against the Jet O.  That is hard to write.  The Pats need to get the O untracked or they are in danger of letting a winnable game slip past them.  The Pats barely and I mean BARELY got this win.  That was about an ugly a win as you can have.  They didn’t look good there and better play better in the playoffs.

3.          Green Bay Packers (4) – The Packers have had trouble getting the O working but have a slim lead and are starting to get on track.  Good D play.  The Packers D played solid and with the receivers actually catching balls the Pack won this going away and have made the playoffs.  Beat Det next week and win the division.

4.          Dallas Cowboys (8) – The Cowboys could eliminate the Eagles by winning and have been aided in this by indy who never got off the bus.  A blowout from the start, it is all over with 30 odd minutes to go.  A nice win but really was just a two team practice and score was kept.  Wonder what Commissioner Goodell might say about the ‘competitive’ nature of this game.  Not really fair to have one team not try when playoff standing is on the line.

5.          Detroit Lions (9) – The Lions are having trouble scoring against Chicago which I think makes them singular amongst every other NFL team.  The D is playing strong but if they can’t get more than seven they will have issues.  The Lions managed to get the necessary points and their D made the key stops they had to and they got another win.  The division title comes to week 17 vs GB.

6.           Pittsburgh Steeler (10) – Tough game for the Steelers.  They can still win their division but they gotta get the O working here.  Field goals won’t cut it in a really tough matchup.  This is almost a playoff game in week 16.  The Steelers really played hard and won this game going away.  A solid win that puts them in the playoffs.  For Pittsburgh to have postseason success they need to find consistency quickly.

7.         Arizona Cardinals (5) – Well the Cards tried but injuries finally caught up with this team of hard working individuals.  They had 3 key drops early and made one mistake in coverage and the game got out of hand fast.  Arizona has nothing to be ashamed of.  They have had a super year and just met a Seahawk team that is peaking at the right time.  They may yet win a wild card game.  A tough loss for a good team.

8.         Indianapolis Colts (6) – The Colts really had nothing to gain in playing this game and boy can you tell from how they are playing.  No effort on O and or D and they are so far down the game is over.  Heck the game is so not mattering to Indy they even pulled Luck.  The game is over and one can only think Philadelphia is cursing now.  Hardly competitive and means Philly is out because Indy didn’t have to play.

9.          Cincinnati Bengals (17) – Finally the Bengals played well at night.  Dalton still looked like an idiot more often than not but the D showed up. They had good special teams.  A solid run game and got 4 key picks.  Can they play good next week at night vs Pittsburgh? We will have to see.

10.        Denver Broncos (3) – Watching Denver play reminds me of walking behind the north end of a south bound horse.  Their alleged D has more holes than old underwear.  Speaking of old, may I introduce Peyton Manning…once a great QB.  The last 4 weeks he is a poor man’s Ryan Fitzpatrick.  His four picks cost the team the game.  They are a shadow of who they were last year and last year they were utterly destroyed in the Superbowl.

11.        Carolina Panthers (18) – The Panthers O is doing alright and Caaaaaaam is brave to be competing with the broken bones in his back.  The D is playing well and they have a lead at the half.  Gotta give Cam credit for playing that hard while hurt.  The Panthers got a hard fought win with a solid effort and their season comes down to week 17…win and in, lose and done.  Good job Caaaaaaaam!

12.          San Diego Chargers (19) – The Charger D mailed it in for the first half and Rivers struggled to get points going but in the second half…the Chargers gave up on the run.  They passed and passed and passed and got points after points after points.  After tying the game late they even stole the win.  What a great win and it keeps them alive for playoffs.

13.        Houston Texans (13) – Just about the best start Houston could have ever hoped for.  The D has a shutout through 30 and Case Keenum has got enough done to have a nice lead.  Can they hold it?  They expanded the lead and the D roared and Houston has stolen a win against arguably a better team.  Solid play by the O and great D and a nice win.

14.         Baltimore Ravens (7) – Where is the Raven O?  For a team sitting in a coveted playoff slot they are playing like crap.  The D can’t do it alone and being down deep to Houston is almost inexcusable.  Can Harbaugh rally his troops with a speech at the half?  The turnovers of Flacco were completely the reason why Baltimore blew this game.  This loss puts them in danger of missing the playoffs but the way Flacco has played no one should be surprised.

15.        Atlanta Falcons (27) – The Falcons have dreams of playoffs in this sucky division match and so far have brought more to the game than their opponents.  Can they sneak a win on the road here?  They not only snuck the win, they eliminated their hated rival Saints too.  The Falcons blew out the Saints in New Orleans and now have a win and in match in week 17 vs the Panthers.

16.         Kansas City Chiefs (11) – The Chiefs are battling for their playoff lives on the road and are in a tussle with a team that is very similar in ability.  This could come to last team who scores wins.  I have seen cheap shots in more than two decades of watching the NFL but that leg whip that 99 did on Big Ben during the TD pass is one of the cheapest I have ever seen.  He should be ejected from the game.   He wasn’t ejected, he needs to be fined.  Justice was served nonetheless as the Chiefs never really showed up and lost.  They are eliminated and that looks good on them.

17.         Buffalo Bills (12) – The Bills have a great opportunity to keep alive in the playoffs but they need to actually try here.  The O line should consider blocking Khalil Mack once or twice.  Orton is looking lost at QB and the D isn’t tight.  About 15 minutes to wake up or watch their season end in Oakland.  They never woke up and a late pick by Orton seals it.  I can’t understand how a team with opportunity in front of them just can’t muster the effort.  Shameful and another lost season.

18.         Miami Dolphins (20) – The Dolphins are having trouble dealing with any aspect of Minnesota’s offense.  Tannehill made a key golden turnover that lead directly to points.  Not much pride from Miami so far.  The Dolphins found a bit of pride and got a win.  They are done this year but they got a win they earned.  It was a win.

19.     _ New York Giants (22) – The Giants have gotten out to a good lead early but the D is slowly letting the Rams back into it.  Very chippy and dirty play on both teams early.  ODB is making himself felt in this game and is almost single handedly carrying the Giants into a comfy lead.  Will see if the D can hold it.  The G-men won this going away.  A nice win and this is two in a row in a lost season.

 20.           Oakland Raiders (25) – The Raiders, playing with nothing to lose, have a good lead against a listless Bill squad.  The D is playing strong and the O is getting threes instead of sevens but they have the lead.  Can they hold it?  Good on Oakland for not only holding it but building on it and sealing it with a golden turnover.  Superb win by an Oakland team that is coming on nicely and has a core to build with.    _________________________________________________________________________________

21.          Jacksonville Jaguars (28) – The Jags O line had real trouble early and that had them down and they looked rough.  Bortles got it going, his O line blocked a little and they got it going.  Better D in the second half coupled with the steadily improving O lead them to a nice come from behind win.  A very young team that snuck a nice win.

22.    Philadelphia Eagles (15) – The Eagles seem to have mailed this game in.  The total lack of discipline leading to well over 10 penalties is embarrassing to the franchise.  The total lack of cover skills by the secondary is embarrassing to the NFL.  If they manage to pull out a win  – they don’t deserve it.   The loss was so ugly it defies words.  What a way to end what had been a promising season.

 23.      St. Louis Rams (14) – The Ram D got smoked by Eli and his weapons a couple of times and have started cheap shotting all over the place.  The Rams got the O working and are within one possession at the half but need to play smarter and cleaner to stay in this.  The Rams basically have given up since being eliminated from the playoffs.  The previous staunch D is just going about the motions and their O isn’t lighting it up either.  The Rams had mistakes and poor effort and penalties and that led to a loss.  Go figure.

 24.       Cleveland Browns (23) – Manziel got his team a field goal which is a step forward for them this week.  Good D play but they are down and need points from the O to get back in this game.  Manziel got hurt and Hoyer came in and got the Browns almost all the way back.  They gave a good effort and came up just that close.  A tough loss.

 25.       San Francisco 49ers (16) – The Niners had a great 30 minutes but they needed to play 60.  The season continues and after 15 games Kaepernick has not got a TD in the 4th quarter.  SF ran for over 350 yards and lost.  No team had done that before if ever.  What a terrible loss by a team who’s D just quit in the second half.  People think this D is good but it isn’t.  The Three turnovers were pure gold and why the Niners lost.

26.        New Orleans Saints (21) – For a team who controls it’s on destiny they don’t seem to be trying very hard.  D is playing ok but the O can’t get points.  The Saints O couldn’t get on track and when the game was on the line and they needed one TD to win…they turned it over and lost.  Good bye New Orleans.  Good thing they play the blues in the Big Easy because Saints fans must be sad now.

27.       Minnesota Vikings (24) – The Vikings have brought their game to South Florida.  Decent D, that has grabbed a key turnover and solid O and they have a nice lead at the half.  The Vikings gave their all on O and but for the odd turnover it did enough to win.  The D did just enough to lose.  They should not have played prevent when only up by 7 and they lost.  Ugly.

28.      New York Jets (26) – Geno Smith is playing his best O of the year.  The Jet D is giving their all.  Typical tough play by the Jets against a hated rival.  This could come down to the the 4th quarter.  The Jets lost by one point.  They played really well.  Geno Smith looked amazing and if he can do that again next week he may yet be the NYJ franchise QB.  Good effort.

29.       Washington Redskins (31) – The Redskins have really played well (for perhaps the first time this year) and RGIII is looking solid.  Good, accurate deep passes coupled with a feisty D pass rush has them in the lead.  One never knows if the Skins D will hold a lead.  They usually don’t.  They have 10 or so minutes to show if they can or not.  RGIII tossing a bad pick late doesn’t help a slowly collapsing D.  Amazingly they held what they had to and got a win.  Wow.

30.    Chicago Bears (30) – The best effort by the BEARS in the first half in weeks and weeks.  Claussen looks good, the O line is blocking and the D tackles too.  Revelational to say the least.  Can they play 60 today?  Well the Bears actually played pretty good.  They only lost by six and they really seemed to give their all.  A pretty good effort for Chicago and they don’t normally give good efforts.  Well done for a loss.

31.             Tampa Bay Buccaneers (29) – Very little to no O once more by this sad excuse for a team.  They have kept it close for 30 but I doubt they can do that for 60.  They couldnt play 60 and were put away nicely.  A team with huge issues and they need a ton of help.  Oh they play next week but they really suck and should be concentrating on the 2015 draft.

32.             Tennessee Titans (32) – The Titans are a mind bending team.  Anyone who was able to watch just the first 30 minutes of the Thursday night snore fest saw a Titan squad who played tough.  They had passing O working, solid Rush D and decent pass rush.  Once more, somewhere around the 40th minute.  They stopped.  They just fold their tents and quit.  This has to be coaching.  How can 53 guys not care to play 60???  A team that is full of quitters is terrible and the worst team in the NFL.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

MR N’s #NFL Week 15 Power Poll‏ #NFLTeamRankings

NFL Power Rankings

1. Seattle Seahawks (1) – What in the ever loving hell is wrong with Seattle??? At home against a team you hate and the ability to bury them right in front you…and you can’t stop them from getting a lead taking Rush TD on 4th and 1? They have 30 minutes to give their heads a shake. The Seahawks gave their head a shake and got a key rushing TD to take a lead they never relinquished. Superb D in the second half allowed them to roll over their hated rivals and they have solidified their playoff spot while destroying the dreams of SF. lol.

2. New England Patriots (3) – Slow start on O but the D is playing ok and special teams has them out ahead early. The Pats poured it on and pulled away. Excellent D getting turnovers and solid Brady led O has them way out in front. A nice win for a solid team.

3. Denver Broncos (4) – The Broncos are not able to answer the Chargers D in the first half. Three Field Goals give them a margin of lead but they could use 7. There seems to be something wrong with Peyton and I am not talking about his health. He may just be suddenly old. The Broncos managed to get a TD from Peyton and solid FG kicks to win a key division game. They have locked up their playoff dreams now.

4. Green Bay Packers (2) – Rodgers is having issues getting his passing attack working in Buffalo’s cold home field. What a game. Aaron Rodgers actually didn’t play as bad as his stat line. He for the first time ever threw 0 TDs and 2 picks. The fact that his receivers dropped at least 5 including one sure TD for Nelson was the difference. A bad loss and now their spot in the playoffs is no longer about home field advantage.

5. Arizona Cardinals (6) – The Cards went on the road with a battered team and took on a D that had been playing lights out for 2 weeks. They used clean play, no turnovers and few penalties to key their amazing victory. The ability of the Cards to take advantage of the three key Ram misplays lead directly to their victory. When a team’s D is playing as tough as Arizona – four field goals are all you need. A superior win.

6. Indianapolis Colts (5) – Luck has to cut down on the pick sixes and get the team moving earlier in the game. They are down to a rival and need to get it going now. The Colts got just enough O and played good enough D to sneak out a win and wrap up their division. They need to get better on O and D in order to have any chance in the playoffs.

7. Baltimore Ravens (7) – The Ravens D is dominating and they are barely in the lead. They should blow out the Jags but may be mailing it in on O. The Ravens didn’t look good in this win but this win was critical in keeping their playoff hopes alive. An ugly but important win.

8. Dallas Cowboys (11) – The Cowboys evidently needed 10 days to figure out how to block pass rushers from hitting Romo. On Thanksgiving they were pushed all over by Eagle D. Today the Cowboys knocked the Eagles around and the Cowboy O tore up the Eagle D. The final score doesn’t represent how dominating a win this was for Dallas. They are in control of the division now.

9. Detroit Lions (12) – The same old sorry ass Lions were adding a push around D to their recipe. They found themselves down early. They have been able to get a couple of turnovers and that has them back in the game. The Lion O got the TD they needed and their D played another strong game. They won the game, they are in first in their division, they have a great record…and they still aren’t very good.

10. Pittsburgh Steelers (13) – The Steelers have used a basic game plan and a nice pick six to have a good lead early on the road. This is a must win for Pittsburgh to keep having playoff dreams. The Steelers were able to get just enough out of their D to keep Atlanta down and Big Ben managed to pull out the points. A great win for Pittsburgh that was so needed to keep them alive.

11. Kansas City Chiefs (15) – A Chief team that has struggled lately and is having injury issues must play solid to keep in control of this game. Alex Smith used his rarely used arm to rip up the Raider D and put the game on ice really quickly. Still alive for the playoffs. A nice win.

12. Buffalo Bills (18) – Unfortunately for Buffalo they are having trouble getting points against the Packer D early. What can be said about the Bill D that hasn’t been said before? A superb game played by the D was the difference. They got a little bit of O and a lot of D and won a great game that no one thought they would. They are still alive for a wild card!

13. Houston Texans (8) – The Texan D got a key early pick six and are keeping the lid on a tough Indy O. They need a few points from their own O. The Texans really couldn’t get any points out of their O. The loss of Fitzpatrick didn’t help. The play of Watt can’t win games itself. A loss that virtually ends their playoff chances.

14. St. Louis Rams (9) – The Rams have seen the enemy and it is themselves. They played a super game of Defense but they had one golden turnover, they had one blown cover and one bad penalty and all led to 9 points. Their O could only manage six and that was that. They played hard but when faced with a team that plays their style but with better people…they didn’t have a shot. A tough loss.

15. Philadelphia Eagles (10) – It was instructive to have seen both Thanksgiving and this week. The Eagles O was on fire 17 days earlier and today all they could do is really fast 3 and outs. They were pummelled. They made errors on special teams, coaching and on O and D. Dominated and never had a chance. Ugly loss.

16. San Francisco 49ers (14) – The Niner D is playing inspired in the first half and have themselves a tiny lead in a tough place to play. Can they make the necessary plays on D and O to keep their season alive? The Niners could not muster any more than the seven they got in the first quarter. The inability to score any points has been the downfall of this team. They lost, they are .500. The illegal hit on Russell Wilson by Moody (crown of the helmet cannot be used to strike a QB) didn’t even impact the game as SF couldn’t even score a point in the second half. They are eliminated now and it looks good on them.

17. Cincinnati Bengals (19) – The Bengals are playing a solid game early and have a nice lead. The D is making a solid effort to disrupt Manziel. The Bengal D has just dominated this game. Key turnovers, stuffing the run and harassing the passer has given them a nice win. Dalton has been a dog but has handed the ball off well. A win for a team that is imminently beatable.

18. Carolina Panthers (21) – Derek Anderson has come in and is playing as well as Caaaam Newton has this year. If Anderson can continue to play better than Cam drives, the Panthers will be ok today. The Panthers D played one of their better games and they got just enough O to get the win and keep their rotten team alive in their rotten Division.

19. San Diego Chargers (17) – Solid D in the first half holding the Broncos to only FGs is good. Not able to do anything offensively but one FG is bad. The Bolts need to score points and fast. SD could not score. The Denver D just held them in check and down goes SD and now they must battle for their playoff lives the next two weeks.

20. Miami Dolphins (16) – The Dolphins have a nice start go downhill quick with a special teams error and they are down to the Pats early. Tannehill has had a bad game and his picks are total gold. The Dolphins D faded later and the Dolphins are simply blown out. An ugly loss that ends their playoff chances basically.

21. New Orleans Saints (26) – The Saints resurgent D was the story with tons of picks and sacks. Brees was solid and the game was well over in 15 minutes. This team is still not very good and their D is abhorrent but a win is a win and their division sucks.

22. New York Giants (25) – The Giants have a lead and they should be able to hold down a very challenged Redskin O. Manning was able to get three TD passes to ODB and that was the difference. A nice win in a season where those are few and far between.

23. Cleveland Browns (20) – The Browns have no answer early for the Bengal D and the Brown D isn’t up to the challenge so far. The Brown O never got on track and some of this is Johnny Manziel’s fault and the rest lies with his underperforming teammates. The D couldn’t stop the run. It ends their season formally. Now they can play for 2015 jobs and we can see if Johnny Manziel is the future for Cleveland.

24. Minnesota Vikings (22) – An excellent start to the game with great drives by the O had the Vikes out to a nice two touchdown lead. Two late first half picks by Bridgewater is creating nothing but trouble for the Vikes and they need to tighten up those turnovers as they are golden. The Vikings never got close to the goal line again. They missed two key field goals and lost by two. The missed field goals hurt but the two interceptions were solid 24k gold and that is what cost them this game. Goodbye playoff dreams.

25. Oakland Raiders (23) – The Raiders are in tough against a division rival on the road and need to keep the magic going and play fundamentally sound football. In a matter of 4 plus minutes the Raider D got shredded and this game went away. Chock another one up in the oops file. Carr and Murray and Mack looked good but you need more than 3 players to win in this NFL.

26. New York Jets (30) – A team with little offense is showing less than little and are struggling to keep the fans awake during this road game. They can win this if they can put together a drive or two. The Jets got their drive and even played some D. They battled a team with less or equal talent and won the game. Congrats, this win almost guarantees the Jets won’t get the number one pick. They can lose even when they win.

27. Atlanta Falcons (24) – The pregame loss of Julio Jones seems to have let the air out of the only good thing on Atlanta – their offense. Could be a very long day for the Falcons. A season of sucking continues as the Falcons just fade and aren’t able to get the points needed to cover what their D allows. A sucky team still alive in their sucky Division.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars (27) – The Jags are getting decent play from Bortles early but their O line doesn’t seem to have the ability to stop the Raven rush. Bortles was pretty decent and the D played pretty good but the O line was the undoing. A fair effort for the Jags but they lost another.

29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (28) – The Bucs have a bit of a running game and seem to have the pass O going too. A decent start for this haphazard squad. The Bucs did all they could in this game but inconsistent O play and injuries to key defenders let the air out of poor team. Another loss in a season of losses.

30. Chicago Bears (29) – What a horrible effort. Jay Cutler single handedly lost another game. He is just destroying what is left of pride and passion in the windy city. Bench him? I would release him. Oh and the D still sucks. Terrible loss by a terrible team having a terrible year.

31. Washington Redskins (31) – Very little offense has them behind early in a matchup that means more traditionally than currently. The injury to McCoy has brought a revitalized RGIII back and he has been decent. If their D could cover a WR it would be closer but alas they are being tore up by the pass. A loss that the D earned.

32. Tennessee Titans (32) – The Titans are playing like a baseball team with a 5-3 lead in an uninspired game. Can they play 60 today? On an aside…do Titan players go out to schools and such and tell kids to play 37 the way they do every Sunday? The Titans again played way less than 60 and lost the game. They are just the worst team in football.

There you have it! As always I enjoy sharing my  in game and post game thoughts with everyone! I also enjoy every thought, agreement, comment, argument…just read it if you like! I will always take cash, preferably tens and twenties!

MR N’s #NFL Week 14 Power Poll‏ (Who’s the best team?) #NFLRankings #NFLStandings

NFL Power Rankings

1. Seattle Seahawks (2) – On the east coast in a titanic battle. To have a three point lead is amazing at this point. The D is bending but not breaking. Russell Wilson continues to be the best athlete on the field. He is willing the Seahawks forward in this game. The Seattle D has dominated the game and with solid play by Wilson the game is a great win for Seattle. Super duper win and they are on a terrific roll.

2. Green Bay Packers (1) – Well the Packers had first place in the NFL locked up after 30 minutes against the rotten Falcons. Then they played some of the most horrible prevent D and a disappearing O…they practically lost the game. I don’t quite know what happened but the best team in the NFL can’t be kicked around by Atlanta on their home field even for 30 minutes.

3. New England Patriots (3) – The Pats went to San Diego early and got used to the warm weather and pleasant sun. They also brought their D as they held the Chargers to only 7 offensive points. The O was challenged early and had to battle to get any headway. Finally they used a special teams play to get their first TD then they slowly got the lead and put it away late. A gutsy win and now New England is set up for home field advantage if they win their next 3.

4. Denver Broncos (4) – Denver has ripped off three rushing TDs and with a nice lead now they can unload their pass rush on the Bills O. This game is very close to being over early in the 2nd half. Not the dynamic Bronco machine but this was a nice win. Manning didn’t even toss a TD for the first time in years. A win is a win and they are solidly in control of their own destiny.

5. Indianapolis Colts (5) – The Colt Offense is being pushed around by the Brown D and they need to wake up again as they are getting in danger of being caught from behind by Houston. The Colts certainly didn’t do this the easy way. They trailed for basically 58 minutes and relied on the guile of Andy Luck to once more pull one out. An exciting win and one that saves their season.

6. Arizona Cardinals (10) – The Cards have basically hit the wall. Too many injuries, too many times. Lacking their QB and missing key secondary members has them struggling and it is likely going to cost them their great start to the year. Wow, Arizona climbed over the wall! What a super drive by Stanton and a 2 point conversion. The D turned up and shut down the Chiefs. A fantastic win that almost guarantees them a spot in the playoffs. Very well done!

7. Baltimore Ravens (9) – The Ravens are without Ngata, playing in the hot sun and are already having a very long day in Miami. If they can’t get the O going this will be bad for their playoff hopes. I give Baltimore full credit for pulling this together and winning the game going away. A super road win in a tough place and they still have post season life.

8. Houston Texans (11) – The Texans are battling and are managing to have a slim lead in a game they can’t afford to lose if they want to keep alive in the division. The Texans did just enough to win this game. They showed guts to keep going and pull it out. They are still battling for post season.

9. St. Louis Rams (14) – The Rams are slowly getting in control of this game with effective O and some good D. This is going the way they would like it to. The Rams didn’t play a super game but they played well enough on the road to beat a pretty awful team and they now still have playoff hopes.

10. Philadelphia Eagles (6) – The Eagles D is playing well but their O has been stymied like never before by the Legion of Boom. They are only down by three and this game is still within reach but what a battle it is. The Philly O never got a chance against a rock solid D. Sanchez doesn’t look like he’s much more than he was as a Jet. Down go the Eagles and now they must face a Cowboy team looking for vengeance. A bad loss.

11. Dallas Cowboys (18) – The Cowboys came out and ran the game plan they should run every game. They ran the ball constantly. That opened up the pass game and that was effective. The Cowboys never had to worry in this game and they were so far out in front they went into front porch rocking chair prevent D and that let in 21 late meaningless points. Superb win.

12. Detroit Lions (20) – Relatively stumbling in a game they should be running away in. Detroit needs to play better. Detroit never really got it going and kind of crawled past Tampa with a 2 score win. Not brilliant but rarely is this sad sack team brilliant. It is a win.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (22) – The Steelers are in a fierce divisional battle and are having issues covering the number one WR of Cincy. They need to tighten up the D. The Steelers really brought their game here. The D held the line respectably and then the Offense poured it on and they actually blew out the Bengals in Cincy. A spectacular season saving win that keeps their hopes alive.

14. San Francisco 49ers (7) – The Niners seem to not be playing as hard as they should be. Kapernick is forced almost on every down to do it all himself. Their D has them trailing at the half and they must get it together to win this one yet. The Niners never got it together. Their O was stifled and looked pedestrian. Their D got beat by Oakland. They were fully and completely whipped by Oakland. I even had SF to win and cover and I have rarely laughed so hard. I think this loss, coupled with Seattle and Zona wins, means their post season dreams are dead.

15. Kansas City Chiefs (8) – The Chiefs are playing it very smart on the road. The use of a solid rush offense is keeping the Cards off the field and they have banged in two quick TDs. The way the Chief D is playing it is an open question as to whether they will allow Arizona to score 14. The Chiefs were never able to get another point and suddenly found themselves down. A total collapse by the O and down they went in a game they had in the bag. Shocking and may hurt their postseason chances.

16. Miami Dolphins (12) – The Fins are being really well led by Tannehill. He is calm, poised and a genuine leader and he has the Dolphins into a nice lead. A tough loss for Miami. They may have just sunk their season with this loss. They have had a decent year but inconsistency has reared its head too many times and now with 6 losses they will be likely outside looking in for the playoffs.

17. San Diego Chargers (13) – They came out with a great pass rush and that harried Brady and helped get the Chargers out to what seemed like a nice 11 point lead. An injury to the punter on a block seemed to affect the psyche of the Bolts. Their Powder Blues couldn’t save them as their D slowly wore down and one mistake in coverage and the Pats had beaten them. Good effort but now they face another tough game next week.

18. Buffalo Bills (16) – The Bills D is not able to stop the Broncos at all when needed. They are down a ton and playing in the thin air…this is just about as bad a start as they could have envisioned. Well the Bills were not in this game but were able make it look much closer with some scoring against prevent D. Me thinks the dream is done for Buffalo. Hopefully they can still win 8.

19. Cincinnati Bengals (15) – The Bengals are managing to get some pass O but they are having issues stopping the number one RB of Pitt. They need to tighten up the D. The D didn’t tighten up, it collapsed. The Bengals ended up eating a 40 burger at home and Dalton couldn’t get enough offense to answer for the mistakes of the D. A bad loss and now Cincy must win out or face elimination.

20. Cleveland Browns (19) – Terrible O early as Hoyer keeps playing like he wants Manziel to play. The D has them in the lead but can it keep it up? The poor old Browns. Hoyer tossed a game ending pick that could be his time in Cleveland ending. The D played 58 good minutes but in a 60 minute game that is about as useless as not showing up. Their season rested on them stopping the Colts twice from the 1 yard line. They called at time out and gave Indy a rest. They then were somehow not ready for the snap and were beaten. Manziel time.

21. Carolina Panthers (24) – The Panthers have turned turnover gold from New Orleans into points and are close to running away with the game early. Their need their D to keep the lead for them. The Panthers had another one of their rare great games and blew away the Saints in New Orleans. A great win for them and somehow this awful team is still alive in the division race.

22. Minnesota Vikings (23) – The Vikings have a lead but are struggling to keep the Jet offense in check. I will let everyone read that slowly again. What the hell is wrong with the Viking D??? The Viking D is horrible and they nearly cost them the game. They snuck away with an OT win and should thank their lucky stars they won this game.

23. Oakland Raiders (26) – A gutsy, nothing to lose attitude has the scrappy Raiders out in front of the Niners at the half. Good D play and some decent moments of O. Don’t know if they can keep it up but it’s fun to watch and a good start for them! What a super finish for the Raiders. Excellent play by Carr, superb running by Murray. Solid D. A great, great win for the Silver and Black. I think they are about to make a huge mistake by getting rid of Sparano. I hope the new coach (Harbaugh?) doesn’t change any of the key parts. Oakland is building a good young team here.

24. Atlanta Falcons (21) – The Falcons came out flat and their D looked as terrible as it always does and they found themselves deep in a hole. Then the second half brought a fierce comeback and the Falcons nearly won the game. They were rotten and good. About as good a definition to their season as exists. They suck and are still in first in that laugh for a division.

25. New York Giants (29) – Simply running the game the way they planned to. Great O, good D, game almost over in the first 20 minutes. The G-men rolled to their 4th win. A great game against a terrible team. Well done New York.

26. New Orleans Saints (17) – Turnovers are gold and with a Saint D as bad as it is they can’t afford turnovers. A terrible beginning and they need to turn it around. What a terrible effort. The D was rotten and the O was flat or worse. A terrible loss but because they are in a rotten division they are still alive.

27. Jacksonville Jaguars (25) – The Jags are battling and hanging around against division rivals. Open question if they can keep this level of play up. The Jags couldn’t keep it up and like so many of their games this year couldn’t play 60. A young team that needs to keep moving forward.

28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (28) – The good news is they got three points and only let in seven in the first quarter. Tampa needs to get some O going. The Bucs gave away the ball too much via golden turnovers and they never were in this game. A lost season continues with no real plan shown by anyone in the organization.

29. Chicago Bears (27) – The Bears looked terrible. The Bears d still can’t stop anyone doing anything. The Bears d is lucky there is a back of the end zone that has a wall behind it or the other team’s O would just keep moving the ball across America until it hit the ocean. The O? It is starting to remind me of baseball teams that can score and win after eliminated from the post season. The Bears put up 3 TDs late when down by 5 tds. Try scoring 3 tds in the first quarter when it counts. Terrible team, terrible loss.

30. New York Jets (30) – The Jets are turning the ball over in many exciting ways. They know how to create gold in New York. Despite their uneven play they are still in the game. The Jets played their best game since they beat Pittsburgh and nearly won this game. Good D and solid rush O but they were just that short and lost.

31. Washington Redskins (31) – Washington is really playing like the worst team in the NFL. They keep playing this bad and I may be forced to make it 31a and 31b. Get it together Washington. The Skins couldn’t score a point at home. The issue isn’t McCoy or RGIII or Cousins. That O line is the WORST and no QB can be productive behind that pile of crap. Oh and Gruden is coaching like an arena league QB. Ugly, ugly, ugly. Blow the whole ugly thing up.

32. Tennessee Titans (32) – Reminding everyone why they are the worst team in the NFL. Horrible start and in a deep hole. They never climbed out of this hole. A rotten effort by all and they are simply a terrible football team.

There you have it! As always I enjoy sharing my in game and post game thoughts with everyone! I also enjoy every thought, agreement, comment, argument…just read it if you like! I will always take cash, preferably tens and twenties!

MR N’s #NFL Week 13 Power Poll‏ (Find out who’s the best/worst)

NFL Power Rankings

1. Green Bay Packers (2) – Green Bay D played a pretty decent bend not break for nearly 40. The Packer O has gotten a few excellent drives but needs to keep up the pressure. The game is tight now and could go either way. The Packers suffered a missed FG and even allowed a key 4th and 3 to be converted late but the D held on and they won a tight one. They are the best team in the NFL (today).

2. Seattle Seahawks (3) – The Seahawks went on the road into the home park of their most heated rival and dominated them from the kickoff til the eating of the Turkey legs on the field. Utter destruction of the SF offense by a D that played their best game of the year. They got enough O to walk away with a win that puts them in the #2 slot and now we need to see if someone is going to beat them again.

3. New England Patriots (1) – The Pats had trouble coming up with answers for Rodgers plays and found themselves down by more than a td for most of the first 40 of this game. The Pat O has finally made somewhat of a late surge and have brought the game to within 2. The Pats need their D to hold and they can have a shot here. The Pats got it within one score but just couldn’t get the play when they had to and down they went. They are no longer the best in the NFL.

4. Denver Broncos (10) – The Broncos came out onto a very loud and unfriendly field and quickly jumped to a nice lead and never looked back. As their D bent but didn’t break the offense just kept adding field goals and the game was never in doubt. A nice win.

5. Indianapolis Colts (11) – A bit of a slow start (like usual) for Indy but they have managed to get a small lead and this may just be a blowout waiting to happen. The Colts are well out in front and can make this silly if they don’t take the foot off the gas. The Colts just rolled and won this game going away. Prevent D allowed most of the Skin points. Nice win.

6. Philadelphia Eagles (13) – The Eagles went into Dallas on Thanksgiving and feasted on the Cowboys. They ate all they could, had seconds and took leftovers home. It was a massacre. The offense scored at will, the D was on point. They played a great game and for the moment look like the real deal in their division. With the NFL this year, their good standing may not last but it is what it is right now. Super win.

7. San Francisco 49ers (4) – The Niners got thrashed at home. Their Offense could barely complete a pass or rush for a yard. Kapernick was picked twice and looked badly being picked. To be fair though I think the SF WR (Lloyd) should have done more than simply stand there and watch while Sherman picked off the ball. The D was alright and their tackling of Lynch was inspired but with no offense they were dead. They need to win out now and get help, in order to have a shot at the playoffs. Their year is effectively over.

8. Kansas City Chiefs (7) – The Chiefs came out slow. Missing their starting safety Eric Berry really hurt their secondary and they were pushed about in the first quarter. Before they could get it going they were two scores down, the crowd was out of it and they had to play catchup. They couldn’t. The Chiefs got whipped again and now need to regroup as they face a really tough last quarter of their Sked.

9. Baltimore Ravens (8) – The Ravens D is playing hard and they have a lead but need to play clean O. The Ravens have a nice lead and now need to rely on their D to try to keep this game in control. The Ravens had a lead until the very end and then they lost it. They have had D issues and those got them today. An ugly loss.

10. Arizona Cardinals (6) – The Cardinals have to find the offense to make up for their early mailing it in or they are in severe trouble. The Cardinals continue to have trouble scoring and are allowing a ton of points from a crappy team. The Cards are in danger of losing two in a row and this loss could make them fall like a stone. Ok get your parachute on because this sad sack loss was ugly and you are now who you are…no good. (they would have fallen farther but for so many sucky teams in the NFL)

11. Houston Texans (19) – Houston is playing a conservative game plan and they have a decent lead early. It appears all Fitzpatrick needed was the proverbial kick in the pants by his benching and he is leading a strident Texan squad to a nice lead in a game that is basically over. When Houston can rip a team for that many points you know they had a good game. Well done.

12. Miami Dolphins (14) – Well Miami won the game. It wasn’t for a lack of trying to lose. They were even run over by the Jets for most of the first half. But for NY missing a ton of field goals they would have lost. If the NFL wasn’t full of rotten teams, this team would be lower but they keep winning so…

13. San Diego Chargers (15) – The Chargers are battling on the road. Rivers has served golden turnovers but the weather is decent and SD hasn’t quit. The Chargers need to play mistake free ball the rest of the way to keep this game close and have a shot late. The Chargers not only got their shot late they pulled out a gutsy East coast road win. Incredible victory that keeps their slim playoff hopes alive.

14. St. Louis Rams (17) – A super start for the Rams. QB Hill is having a day of days and is leading the Rams to a huge lead early. What a comeback for St. Louis. They needed a win like this and are still trying to keep themselves alive in the NFC playoff with this superb win. Well played on O and D. Excellent win.

15. Cincinnati Bengals (5) – The Bengals have mailed it in early and are struggling on O and D to simply get back into a game against a demonstrably worse opponent. Trailing as the game goes into the second half is the sole fault of Andy the overpaid pick machine Dalton. The Bengals were barely in the lead until late and then when TB got set up to kick a game winning FG, their head coach illegally challenged a play when he wasn’t allowed to and used that to get a play re-refereed (after hearing ad nauseum for the last week that the Booth WON’T officiate the game) and the booth officiated the game and called a penalty which the booth isn’t supposed to do and the Bengals won. It was a gutless, classless win. This team of dirtbags is in first but is going to slide in my power poll because I am offended.

16. Buffalo Bills (18) – The Bills are shut out early but their D is keeping them in a must win game early. Great D but by hook or by crook they need to find a way to get some points. Full credit to the Buffalo in that they used many ways to get points and they won the game going away! Great win and now they have climbed out of the playoff grave and are hunting contenders!

17. New Orleans Saints (21) – The Saints are on the road and the turmoil in the coaching staff isn’t helping the issues the team has on the field. It really appears that Drew Brees has lost good parts of his game. Somehow the Saints have pulled into a lead but they are having serious issues getting offensive production. Those issues were answered as Brees suddenly unleashed a fury of TDs and they blew away Pittsburgh. Good road win.

18. Dallas Cowboys (9) – Oh my goodness did they lay an egg?? Terrible play by what has been a dominating offensive line. Romo looked like classic late season Romo. He stunk. They were thrashed by Philadelphia and now face needing to win out to have a shot at the postseason. My how the mighty fell really fast. Ugly loss.

19. Cleveland Browns (12) – In an absolutely Defensive battle and have a slim lead as the two are battling in a must win for both. What a grand defensive stand the Browns are making. it will be hard for them to win this game 3-0 but they are over half way there. The Browns D and special teams couldn’t hold the line and Hoyer finally played himself out of his job. Manziel looked good so now it’s probably his to lose. The Browns may not yet be done but they are on life support.

20. Detroit Lions (24) – The Lions were able to overcome a nearly 2 possession deficit and then score every time they had the ball for awhile. Their D was solid against the pass and run and they won a key division match up going away. They didn’t look amazing but they won.

21. Atlanta Falcons (25) – A picture perfect start for this laughingstock team. Couldn’t have game planned it better. Can they hold it, with that terrible D? The Falcon D is playing way above its pay scale here and the O keeps getting points. It will require another epic collapse to lose this one. The Falcons beat a team outside of their awful division. A good win for Atlanta. I do not think this makes them any good. Win another one like this and maybe I can respect you a little.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers (16) – Big Ben and his Steelers are early relying on LeVeon Bell and that is a good idea and they are in a nice place early in this game. The Steelers are simply not doing anything of note and if they don’t give their heads a collective shake they will lose this one and be in trouble in their division. The only thing that shook late was the D as it totally collapsed and was torn apart. An ugly loss.

23. Minnesota Vikings (26) – The Vikings are using accurate passing and good special teams to get out to a nice lead. Can they keep it up? The Vikings continue to use excellent special team and solid D and have built a great lead and are well in control. The Vikings won the game going away. A great win!

24. Carolina Panthers (22) – The Panthers O seems flat as usual and their D and special team are having issues too. This could be a long day for Carolina. For a team with little or no offense, being down by over three TDs pretty much means this game is over after 33 minutes. The game was over. Carolina never had a chance and only because their division is the worst EVER in football do they have a chance at the playoffs when 3-8-1.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars (28) – Bortles looks decent today but he can’t make his receivers catch the ball. The Jag D seems flatter than usual today. And their flatness has continued and they are well down and likely done by early 3rd quarter. The Jags pulled together the greatest comeback in franchise history and stole a win. Way to go Jacksonville.

26. Oakland Raiders (23) – The Raiders have been pushed about badly by the Rams and find themselves 3 tds down very early. The Raiders are so badly down this game is over and no matter how many junk points they get they were blown out and this is ugly. It got uglier and uglier. We will just put this in the ooops column and hope for better next week.

27. Chicago Bears (20) – The Bears played 10 good minutes on Thanksgiving and then stunk like nobody’s business. An awful game. Bad QB play, terrible to non-existent pass coverage and horrible tackling. They were embarrassed, their season is over and they need to fire their coach and trade/cut their mistake of a QB.

28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (29) – The Bucs are being Buc like but have managed to get a double digit lead early. Not playing well at all but they are leading as their opponent is playing terrible. The Bucs are who they are and with that they nearly won an improbably victory. They would have won but for the NFL ruling against them. Good try.

29. New York Giants (30) – The G-men have taken advantage of mistakes by their lesser opponent and they have a good lead early. They are rolling over the Jags and have a nice lead and one doubts they can be caught now. Want to talk ugly loss? The sad sack Giants allowed Jacksonville to come all the way back and defeat them. If they could only just decline the rest of their games it would be more merciful.

30. New York Jets (27) – The Jets played a good half and dominated on the lines of scrimmage for most of it. Geno wasn’t bad and don’t blame him for the loss because of that late pick. He played decently and if the darn kicker had hit a FG or two they mighta won another. Alas they lost. Fair effort.

31. Washington Redskins (32) – The Redskins have been playing energetically early but you can almost sense they cannot score enough early to hold a lead against the Colts. The Redskins couldn’t even hold a lead into the half and could barely get any points from 3 Indy turnovers are down now and it will just get uglier now. Colt McCoy did get some points and didn’t look bad but that D is bad and they are only not in last because the Titans are worse.

32. Tennessee Titans (31) – The moribund Titans are playing down to their ability and look very flat. The Titans will have to show heart they have never had so far this year to come from behind. Methinks this game is already over. The Titans were just rolled over. An ugly loss.
