Mr N’s Week 11 Power Poll‏ #NFL #NFLRankings #Thanksgiving

NFL Power Rankings

1.            Carolina Panthers (1) – The D seemed to mail it in for a 10-minute period then they have poured it on.  Caaaaaaaam is dominating again and the should be NFL MVP has his team well out in front and it would have to be a complete collapse for them to lose this one.  The Panthers put this game away early in the 3rd quarter and cruised.  A great win for the best team in the NFL.  I will be so extremely happy if their week 12 win is the one that ends the Cowboy’s poor excuse for a season.

2.            New England Patriots (2) – Buffalo pretty much created the best possible defensive game plan to stop New England and Brady didn’t look good but *fake shocked look on my face* they still managed to win at home.  Once The Kraft Family sells and Belicheat and Brady are gone I want the stadium blown up and a new one built that can’t be fitted to allow cheating.  Yeah, they won.

3.            Arizona Cardinals (4) – The problem Arizona had going in was that Carson Palmer had worked this game up into being more important than a Super Bowl.  Evidently he still has some issues from when he parted ways with Cincy.  He tried too hard early and tossed two golden picks and put his team down.  He eventually calmed down and spread the ball around and took a nice lead late.  The D got weary and allowed the game to tie but one more good drive by Palmer and a key kick later and the Cards are 3 up in the west.  A gutsy win in prime time.  The SECOND best team in the NFC.

4.            Pittsburgh Steelers (4) – on the bye, never knew that Pittsburgh had this much heart and as they get healthy and the D gets its legs under it…who knows how far they can go.

5.            Green Bay Packers (15) – The Pack D have come to play.  The O is being held to Field Goals only.  Can the Pack play this hard on D for 60? If they do, they can steal a win here.  Green Bay had a much needed return to form here.  Solid play by Aaron Rodgers and best play by their D in more than a month and they won.  They should be able to whip the BEARS a new one on Thanksgiving night now.

6.            Minnesota Vikings (3) – The Viking D is doing their job holding Green Bay out of the end zone early but they need to find answer to the GB D or this game could be a bad one for them.  This was a bad one for Minnesota.  The Vikings had a chance to show the world that the changing of the guard had come.  It hasn’t.  Green Bay is the bully and Green Bay stole Minnesota’s lunch money and made them cry uncle.  A dispiriting loss that hopefully won’t cause a hangover in the Twin Cities.

7.            Indianapolis Colts (7) – The Colts offense has been struggling this time under Hasselbeck’s direction.  The D has had issues and been burned a couple of times early.  If not for a late TD this game would be dicey.  Indy could still use the halftime to come up with a plan that would allow their team to maximize what they have and still have a shot.  The Colts were able to get some action from the vets.  Gore was able to be a good force and Hasselbeck was better under control.  The D kept it close with a super pick 6 and then mega vet Vinatieri hit a game winner.  A poor team that is tied for the lead in their division still with this win.

8.            Kansas City Chiefs (8) – Kansas City is playing a pretty good game early although are being hit by cheap shot after cheap shot from the dirty playing Bolts.  This is quite a battle.  The battle turned into a massacre and KC massacred the Chargers.  TDs on D, Special teams, on the ground and in the air.  They not only survived innumerable ugly cheap shots by the dirty playing San Diego, they destroyed them.  A huge win for Kansas City and sets them up nicely for a run at a Wild Card.

9.            Houston Texans (9) – T.J. Yates has the Texans O clicking. He seems confident in using his WR especially Hopkins.  The Texans D is playing well in the first half and the Houston seems to have a good game plan so far.  Yates kept the Texans going and was able to put together a number of key drives and he led the Texans to a nice win.  They stay tied for first in their bad D.  The Texans are still alive.

10.          New York Giants (10) – on the bye, if they can please win 4 more than that will put a fork in Dallas.  Go Blue.

11.          Seattle Seahawks (12) – A great start for Seattle and they are off to a super lead over their rival.  The Seahawks have the D playing hard and the O working.  This could be over by the 3rd quarter.  The Seahawks D still had some issues showing and the O line needs to focus on getting better protecting Russell still.  In the end the Seahawks won an easy one going way.  A nice win and they are still bubbling under with a shot at the playoffs somehow.

12.          Buffalo Bills (6) – Had a great game plan, executed it to the fullest.  Came as close as any team to shutting down Brady.  And they lost Ernesto.  Best effort in a can’t beat em place, in a can’t win it game.  Play this way against teams that don’t cheat and you won’t be beat again.

13.          Denver Broncos (14) – Brock Osweiler is celebrating his 25th birthday in the cold of Chicago.  Not totally effective he has done just enough to have his team up by 4 at the half.  He seems to be having difficulty reacting to the BEARS various defensive set ups.  D is playing well and holding Chicago to only FGs in the first half.  The Broncos D finally let in a TD but were able to stand up and stop the 2-point conversion.  Osweiler did just enough to win the game and that keeps the faltering Broncos atop their division.

14.          Tampa Bay Buccaneers (18) – Tampa Bay allowed an early TD and then Winston turned it on.  Doug Martin has been running wild and the calm and collected Winston has the Bucs out to a nice lead.  The Bucs simply put up a nice 40 burger and put it on cruise control.  A great win for this young team and one they can point to when it all works.  The upcoming loss of Alexander at LB to a PED suspension will destroy the D so that will bear watching.

15.          New York Jets (11) – The Jets are in tough against a Texan team who is playing solidly.  Best line of the day ‘Revis was burned’.  The Revis Island has become the Revis Boat cruise…he just lets people get on top of him and sail down the field.  The Jet O isn’t getting much done and they need much more work out of Fitz to win this one.  Fitz gave his all in this game, including running a tying TD into the end zone and suffering a huge concussive hit.  Did the NFL pull him from the game? No. Is there a standard as to when a badly concussed player is removed or is the NFL full of crap?  Oh and the Jets lost and that could be severe in their trying for a wild card as it’s a conference loss.

16.          Jacksonville Jaguars (24) – Jacksonville had issues with D again although they had effective moments.  Bortles showed the world how talented he is and how great that O is.  Troubled with weather and a solid Titan D the Jags trailed for a lot but managed to pull out a win in the end.  They get full credit on the coaching staff for realizing if you keep kicking field goals all those 3’s add up to a win.  They could be tied for first after Sunday.  A good win.

17.          St. Louis Rams (16) – The Rams are having issues on both D and O.  Keenum hasn’t been revelational for the team.  They are having trouble scoring but are making their presence felt on D.  They need to see if they can get more offensive cohesion in the second half.  The Rams had trouble getting any offense (turning the ball over 4 times is no way to win) and the D did it’s best to keep it close.  In the final two minutes they missed a potential game winning FG and they let Baltimore have multiple shots at it.  Keenum was badly concussed and the NFL didn’t pull him out of the game.  He was still hurt when he fumbled and Baltimore won.  The NFL is shameful for how they sometimes pull injured players for health reasons but not all of them.  A loss that dooms their season after moments of promise.

18.          Detroit Lions (25) – The good is the D is pitching a first half shutout against a less than inspired opponent.  The O has had great issues closing and relying only on field goals will work if you stop the other team for 60.  They need to do this for 30 more.  The Lions were able to just play good enough to beat a team that didn’t try for the first 30 minutes.  It is a win, it wasn’t clean, pretty or much of anything else but it was a win.

19.          Oakland Raiders (17) – Oakland D is playing alright in the first half limiting the Lions to only 3 points per possession.  It appears the Oakland O didn’t find their way to the stadium in the first half.  They need to get the O going or this will be a bad plane ride home for them.  The Raiders just never were able to make up for their lack of effort in the first half.  Now having lost 3 in a row, 3 that they should have won.  Well you can stick a fork in the Silver and Black…they are done.

20.          Washington Redskins (19) – Had one good long pass and a good kick return but other than that the O hasn’t really been heard from.  The D has been shredded by Cam Newton and the Skins find themselves close to having this game run away on them.  The Redskins never found themselves and the game ran away from them.  One of the worst aspects of this blowout loss is how it gives hope to Cowboy apologists.  An ugly loss that puts Washington in a tough spot in their division.

21.          Chicago BEARS (20) – BEARS D playing good enough to keep Chicago in the game.  Cutler and his O haven’t been able to solve the Bronco D and have managed only field goals.  The D needs to keep it up and the O needs to get 7 or this could be a hard one to win.  Turns out the BEARS needed 8 and could only get 6.  They were down at least their top 2 WR and one top RB and if they could only have played a better first half…ah well…I officially stick in fork in my BEARS, they are done this year.  Crippling loss.

22.          Baltimore Ravens (31) – Harbaugh seems to be struggling to control the team and seems to be trying to outcoach his opponent instead of just letting his team play.  The D is making stupid mistakes (yes Elvis is at it again) and the O is having issues now that their number 1 RB is out.  Will be tough for them to win this one unless they step it up in the second half.  The Ravens never really stepped it up.  Their D made some stops and their O made some plays.  It came down to the foot of their kicker who missed twice but hit one when it counted and they snuck out with a win that ended their QB’s season.  They are already out of the playoffs and now they are using a backup QB for the rest of the year.  Do you think John is calling Jim and asking how life is coaching in college?

23.          Dallas Cowboys (32) – The Cowboys struggled to get points early with Romo looking very rusty.  A defensive 6 and finally a pass from Romo has them up a score at the half.  Dallas has to win or even the Cowboys apologist army will say they are done.  Dallas managed to beat a pretty poor Dolphin team and now Cowboy nation is all ‘our season is saved’.  First of all, you have to win 6 more and second you have to beat Carolina Thanksgiving and third…Greg Hardy is a scumbag and the Cowboys suck.  They won.

24.          Miami Dolphins (22) – Playing in very wet conditions is good for the Fin D but the Fin O looks pretty washed up so far.  A late TD has them still in this game but they need to get the O working or this could be bad for Miami.  The Dolphins couldn’t afford to turn the ball over and they did, they needed to not make dumb penalties and they did.  They needed to play steady D and they didn’t.  A loss for a team that is trying to find who they really are and sometimes they just aren’t that good.

25.          Atlanta Falcons (23) – Ryan seems to have not rested his arm on the bye.  More than once his throws to receivers seemed to be slow and not the sharp lines we are used to seeing.  The loss of Devonta Freeman to injury may really harm the Falcons as the game progresses.  A 7-point lead is a good place to be but they need more points or really strong D to win this one.  The Falcons D got pushed back in the second half and Ryan tossed a golden turnover for 6 and that put them tied late and after giving up a key field goal Matty Melt tossed a failed Mary and the Falcons lost.  This horrible team was once undefeated and I still laugh when people said they were better than Carolina.

26.          Cincinnati Bengals (13) – The Cincinnati Bengals were still being touted as the likely AFC Champion when this game started.  The Bengals D got a couple of golden picks and turned that into points and by the half they had a lead over a tough Zona squad.  The 2nd half brought a defensive collapse that put them down double digits.  The Bengals stormed back and tied the game late.  Another poor excuse of a defensive series and then another bone head penalty by a defender set up the game losing field goal.  Note to Peko, if you are going to simulate the snap count, don’t do it right in front of the umpire.  A loss that brings this ‘elite’ team back down to earth.

27.          New Orleans Saints (26) – on the bye, a team with a lost season that is trying to have Drew Brees have one more year in the sun.

28.          Cleveland Browns (27) – on the bye, they lost Manziel as starting QB due to his alcohol problems and now have McCown (the broken down version) and no hope what so ever.

29.          Philadelphia Eagles (21) – #Buttfumble has a couple of TD passes and looks like a QB.  The Philly D doesn’t look like an NFL D.  The Eagles need to stop the run or this game is effectively over.  The Eagles could not stop the run, the pass or having #Buttfumble insulting his teammates.  Funny how Chip Kelly is the only person who didn’t know that Sanchize gave S**T to Sproles.  Is Kelly even watching the game or is he trying to figure out which next best talented player he should trade or cut?  A bad loss that keeps Dallas hoping they have a shot.

30.          Tennessee Titans (28) – The Titans brought a good D and some respectable O to the short week match and kept themselves in it for the the whole 60.  One of their best complete efforts that had them leading late and with a shot to win it as time expired but for Mariota slipping and getting sacked.  A great effort that ended in a loss.  If this was Dallas, then everyone would say they were going to still win the division.  They lost, it finishes them but they have the beginnings of pieces to build around, starting with Mariota.

31.          San Francisco 49ers (29) – Evidently having a bye only got them Crap-er-nick free but didn’t inspire good play.  They are in danger of having the game run away on them.  They look like an untalented team.  The Niners managed to get a little bit of offense in the 2nd half and even got within 10 points at one moment but they just don’t have any talent on O or D.  They were schooled and lost again and keep battling for the first pick overall.  Gabbert now has this team to run for 6 more games.  Good luck Blaine.

32.          San Diego Chargers (30) – The Bolts are trying but seem to mostly be trying to get flagged for vicious hits.  A team showing an appalling lack of discipline.  Can they calm down and play, we must see.  The Chargers played terribly on O, D and Special Teams.  When they didn’t give up golden picks or fumbles they did horrible cheap shots.  They were just horrid and are an abomination.  Never has San Diego looked this futile in 30 years.  What an embarrassment to the city, the team and the franchise’s entire history.  Ugly doesn’t begin to describe this loss.

As always, I love all thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements.  I appreciate someone reading my views.  I would also offer my analysis work to ESPN as some of theirs need help or I will take cash, preferably tens and twenties!

Mr N’s Week 10 Power Poll‏ #NFL #NFLRankings

NFL Power Rankings

1.            Carolina Panthers (1) – The Panthers do seem to be quasi mailing this in but they have a small lead and are doing just enough on O and D to be ahead in a highly competitive matchup.  The Panthers seemed to have woke up and tried in the second half and put the game away on the back of Caaaaaaaam!  A pretty hard fought win that looked easier by the final score.  9-0 and a very, very tough team to beat.  Balanced, powerful and the best in the NFL.  (They don’t cheat).

2.            New England Patriots (3) – New England does have kryptonite and it wears Giant uniforms.  The Pats have battled to get 10 points in the first half and they are just being bedeviled by the Giants.  Brady was even sacked!  Can they find a way to get past the Giants?  The Pats did all they could within and without the rules and were down by 2 points until Brady managed to get them to a chance to win and they did.  They cheat and they win and they cheat and they cheat and they cheat.

3.            Minnesota Vikings (4) – The Vikes have used some lucky bounces and decent effort to get out to a nice early lead and they are in a tough battle in a very tough environment.  Well the Vikings brought their #2 D to Oakland boy did it put on a show in the 2nd half.  Concentrating on using the Run, some on and off special teams and solid D the Vikes have taken sole possession of first place in the NFC North.  Great win Minnesota and next you take on the beast to show who is King!

4.            Arizona Cardinals (5) – Arizona came to the house of horrors and shut down the crowd with a stupefying 19 straight points to start the game.  The O found the holes in the Seahawk D and the game seemed over at the half.  The loss of a key O lineman would be a telling blow as in the second half the Seahawk rush was able to get to Palmer and forced multiple fumbles.  Before the smoke cleared from the half time the Cards were down to Seattle.  They rallied, marched the field, took the lead and then held it for rest of the game.  A gutsy win that defines how tough this team is.  They now control their division.

5.            Pittsburgh Steelers (12) – The Steelers keep facing adversity on all fronts.  Trying to get Big Ben healthy they had Landry Jones starting until he got his ankle injured and now hobbled Ben is working some magic against a bad Brown D and the Steelers have a decent lead at the half.  Their playoff hopes lay in the hands of a crippled QB.  Big Ben showed amazing heart and drove his Steelers to a division win.  They actually won it going away.  This team is noted for its heart and you can’t underestimate the value of courage to a team’s chances.  Great win.

6.            Buffalo Bills (17) – The Bills came out a bit flat and were able to play decent D but couldn’t get the O working, thankfully their special teams got the job done with a golden forced turnover.  The second half was superb for the Bills, Taylor showed his mettle at QB and the D made the difference with key turnovers and stops and the Bills outcoached the Jets and won.  A win that vaults the Bills into a playoff spot (as of Thursday night!)

7.            Indianapolis Colts (14) – On the bye and look ma we moved up 7 places!  They probably aren’t this good but Lord Almighty the teams that were up here looked horrible this week.  Ok Indy, win a game…

8.            Kansas City Chiefs (18) – The Bye must have really helped KC as their D is on fire and for the most part of the first half they are shutting out the Broncos.  About as good a start as they could ever have scripted.  Kansas City played amazing D and actually drove Manning out of the game with 4 pickoffs.  The Chiefs were up to a huge shutout lead and then played a little prevent and won it going away.  A great win for KC.

9.            Houston Texans (19) – The Texans brought out a D that I don’t think has been seen once this year.  The Pass D was excellent; the run D was solid.  The Texans throttled the Bengals in the first half and kept themselves just down 3 points.  In the second half TJ Yates appeared and all he ever does is beat Bengals.  He led the Texans on one great drive and hit Hopkins for the catch of the year.  The Texans played their best D game of the year and stole a win and now are tied for their division lead.  Can they do this again?

10.          New York Giants (9) – A great start for New York.  They are pressuring Brady, have scored a bit and are in a real battle against New England again.  Can they do this for 60?  The Giants were able to play it hard for 58 minutes but that last 2 minutes got them and they lost a tough one.  This loss is doubly bad as it gives Cowboys apologists hope.  Bad loss.

11.          New York Jets (7) – Everyone talked about how hard it would be for Rex Ryan to return to this game.  No one realized that Todd Bowles put enormous pressure on himself to beat Rex.  Bowles made at least 3 key coaching mistakes that in the end cost his team the game.  Fitzpatrick was the bad Fitz and turned the ball over 4 times (3 times his fault) and that contributed to the loss.  The Jets really weren’t so much beaten as they beat themselves.  Now they are still in the running for the playoffs but this loss hurts the overall record and is a lost chance for this team.

12.          Seattle Seahawks (6) – Oh my…where did the Seahawk secondary go?  They were taken down by the same old plays as before and Wilson was hurried, harried and sacked and fumbled and tossed a pick.  The Seahawk front 7 were able to mount a comeback but in the end the D and the O couldn’t answer Arizona and now if they can’t crawl into a wildcard…they will be sitting at home in the second week of January.

13.          Cincinnati Bengals (2) – Well it finally happened.  The Bengals looked like the Bengals.  Dalton, the Red Rider BB Gun himself, looked like Dalton the water pistol.  He was hurt by many drops and when that started to wear on him he returned to his old haunt and over threw to AJ Green.  The Bengals never managed to get any O working at all and the D let in one big drive and there went the undefeated season.  The Bengals better be careful because they could emulate KC from last year and be lucky to win 10.  A bad loss by a team that looked like they always look.

14.          Denver Broncos (8) – Has anyone seen the Bronco Offense?  Um Congrats Peyton, you have your yards record and you are being shut out and picked off and sacked and humiliated in the game.  Should we have a parade at half time?  Can Denver score today?  Peyton Manning never scored.  He threw 4 gold turnover picks and he was benched.  Brock Osweiler actually scored 13 points.  The D couldn’t stop KC and the O was basically non-existent.  A terrible loss by a team that looks severely beatable.  They look like a toy drum.

15.          Green Bay Packers (11) – The problems in Green Bay seem much deeper than anyone could have thought. No offense at all.  Rogers looks lost and frustrated.  To be nearly shut out for another ½ is mind boggling.  This matchup was supposed to right the ship and get them back in order.  A terrible start and now we have to see if Green Bay has just become a shadow of their former self.  Well that was a second half.  The Packer D let Detroit put up a TD and the Packer O had severe issues getting any points until the last drive.  They were criminally aided by highly questionable ref calls in their favor.  In a moment of Karma, having been given a shot on a platter, their vaunted FG kicker missed and they lost.  3 in a row and a loss at home too.  I don’t think I have laughed that hard at GB since before Brett Favre became a Packer.  Aaron Rodgers is doing his best Don Majkowski impersonation and I hope he R-E-L-A-X-S and enjoys it!

16.          St. Louis Rams (10) – Bears fans had hoped St. Louis might play one of their ‘bad’ games today and lo and behold they are.  Terrible D, making huge mistakes; turnovers on O, mistakes on O. The Rams find themselves down 2 scores and needing to really rally to get back in this game at the half.  The Rams never really got it going on O or D or anything.  A really poor effort, at home, that doomed them from the start.  A blowout loss that hurts their chances in a tight division race.

17.          Oakland Raiders (13) – Full credit to the Raiders for falling down 13 early but battling back to make this a game by the half.  The Raiders were never really in sync on D and that hurt them over and over.  By the time they let Peterson gash them for 80 it was pretty much over.  A game that Oakland just got overwhelmed by a better D.  They need to regroup as they have a string of winnable ones coming up.  This team is still in the running.

18.          Tampa Bay Buccaneers (20) – Tampa has had trouble dealing with the Cowboy pass offense.  The Buc O is having trouble keeping the ball in their hands.  Down at the half they need to really go hard to win this game.  The Bucs turned the ball over twice with Winston throwing picks.  What Winston showed today is that he has grown as he didn’t allow his mistakes to create a hangover for him and he in the end scored the game winning TD.  A great win for a young team.

19.          Washington Redskins (21) – Cousins is having another of his ‘great’ games and is hitting all his key throws and has the Redskins O keeping the team in this game and has them out to a nice lead.  The D isn’t playing like it had in the first half of the season and Washington needs better D to keep them ahead in this game.  The Redskins rode a tough D through the second half and combined that with a great effort by Cousins and they blew New Orleans away.   A great win by a team that still needs to find consistency in their week to week efforts.

20.          Chicago BEARS (28) – What a superb start for the BEARS.  Cutler has been on fire and Langford is the future and present at RB for Chicago.  Pretty decent D, getting good plays and a key turnover along with excellent O and the BEARS have a nice lead at the half.  The BEARS expanded their lead and then used – it’s hard for me to type this – great D to win this game going away.  The BEARS run D held Gurley to 45 yards only!!!!!  Cutler was extremely efficient and Langford dominated.  A seminal win and the way everyone but Minnesota is playing perhaps Chicago ain’t dead yet!

21.          Philadelphia Eagles (15) – The Eagle O has been rocking it out in the first half.  The D does have issues but that is the definition of Eagle D.  Out to a big early lead, they now just need to keep ahead and pull out a much needed win.  Philly didn’t have the D to keep them in the lead and then when Bradford got hurt they had to put all their faith, hope and charity in the hands of #Buttfumble.  The one broadcaster said that Sanchize doesn’t make good decisions late in games.  I think that’s not fair.  The San-chize doesn’t make good decisions at any point in the football game!  He played as good as he could so the Eagles lost.  If Bradford is badly hurt…Philadelphia needs another QB because #Buttfumble is not the answer.  Bad loss.

22.          Miami Dolphins (23) – Tannehill has shown amazing incompetence and some not bad plays too.  The D has been shredded from the get go.  Miami is keeping themselves in the game somewhat but it could get out of hand quickly in the second half.  The Dolphins seemed to be playing just bad enough to lose this game but then they caught a huge break.  They injured Sam Bradford and that brought #Buttfumble into the game and that was all she wrote!  A nice victory that the Fins hung on to win.  They couldn’t have done it without the Sanchize’s help!  A nice win.

23.          Atlanta Falcons (22) – On the bye, this team was once undefeated.  The questions are now how many games will they finish behind Carolina, how many yards can Devonta Freeman end with and how on earth did people ever consider this team better than Carolina and can they mail me their professional football analysis checks please???

24.          Jacksonville Jaguars (25) – The Jag offense is as advertised with Bortles using all of his weapons to keep the Raven D on their back feet.  The Jag D have been marginally successful in the first half but they need a lot more consistent D play to have a shot in this game.  The Jaguars battled through a couple of turnovers and kept the game close.  They led late and then allowed a score that normally would have doomed this young team.  Jacksonville had one shot left and Bortles drove them to nearly getting it and all seemed lost until a defensive penalty gave them one untimed down and a 50+ yard FG try.  With that FG it was a superb win for Jacksonville.  When this offense gets some D help they will be a very tough team to play.  Super win!

25.          Detroit Lions (32) – A team struggling for a sign of life they have brought their A game on D today.  Superb shutdown D has allowed them to keep this game way closer than anyone thought it would be.  If they had any offense and any sort of NFL QB they could be winning this game huge.  We will see if the D can play hard for 60 and if they can get any O.  The Lions D bent and nearly broke many times.  Matt Stafford actually impersonated an NFL QB and put the Lions in a late lead.  That their kicker can’t impersonate an NFL kicker is another story.  The Refs seemed to turn on the Lions late but they hung in and in a magical moment they watched a field goal miss and they won.  First win in Geek Bay since 1991.  Way to go Detroit, you officially aren’t worse than all the other teams anymore!

26.          New Orleans Saints (16) – Brees has the O working like clockwork and the Saints D is sucking like no one’s business.  If the Saints can score more and more then it may come to being the last team that scores is going to win this barn burning, bad D game.  Well the Saints O decided one quarter effort was enough and then their D simply showed how bad a D can be.  If Ryan the other isn’t fired this week I will be surprised (I wrote this late Sunday evening and he was gone by late Monday!).  Horrible loss by a horrible team who fooled everyone a couple of weeks ago by making us all think they had a shot this year.  They are done.

27.          Cleveland Browns (24) – Manziel must be driving Pettine crazy in the first half.  He is running all around and throwing on the run.  He did complete 80% of his passes at one point but that wasn’t done in the pocket so it barely counts to Pettine.  The D is having some serious problems covering receivers and the story of this game will be whether Cleveland can stop anyone in the second half.  The Browns only managed to get a 6 more points but their D just couldn’t stop the Steeler passing attack.  This game was over.  Their D is really lacking talent and that kills any chance they could have.

28.          Tennessee Titans (26) – The Titans are playing with abandon on O and D and are giving all they have for the first half.  A sold performance but the issue all year (last year too) is can they do this for 60.  We will see.  The Titans couldn’t maintain their effort in the second half and once the game got away from them they let their frustrations show with some bonehead plays on the field.  Another loss for a team that is undergoing bad growing pains.

29.          San Francisco 49ers (29) – on the bye…they have been pretty awful all year and they come off the bye to take on hated rival Seattle.  It will be interesting to see if they can muster any effort or will they just keep playing for a new QB.

30.          San Diego Chargers (30) – on the bye…they seem to be playing for a nice stadium in Los Angeles.  I do not remember seeing a Charger team this bad and I have watched the NFL intently since 1985.  What a mess.  McCoy is a certain member of Dead man coaching.

31.          Baltimore Ravens (27) – The Ravens have to consider themselves lucky to be leading at the half.  Their D has been terrible and their secondary either can’t cover or interferes.  A missed FG, several missed opportunities, the Ravens need better D and better O to avoid a loss today.  Baltimore struggled to get any edge in this game.  A late drive got them a one-point lead and then it was up to the D to seal the deal.  The Ravens seemed to have stopped Jacksonville as time expired but for Elvis Dumervil doing his part for the nominee of stupidest play of the year.  A 15-yard personal foul face mask gave up the yards that cost his team the game.  A horrible loss for a horrible team.  It doesn’t matter how close your losses are when you can’t count your losses on one hand.

32.          Dallas Cowboys (31) – How ‘Bout them Cowboys??? The Cowboys are getting good play from Cassel.  I am waiting for his inevitable pick 6.  The D is harrying the rookie QB and the Boys have a bit of a lead.  Can they hold on?  This was the gut grabber of the day.  The Cowboys had a lead and then the stat showed that Dallas had never lost 4 games in a row they had lead in the 4th quarter.  Until today.  Really bad defensive techniques led to the goon of the year Heath giving TB new life at the goal line and then they let in a TD and lost.  They couldn’t have lost if Cassel hadn’t finally thrown that game losing pick.  A horrible loss, 7th in a row, for a team that is dead.  We will know if Garrett has nude pictures of the Jones family if he survives not being fired after the mess of this year.  Wonder how happy Dez will be in the locker room this week? Couldn’t happen to a more deserving team.

As always, I love all thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements.  I appreciate someone reading my views.  I would also offer my analysis work to ESPN as some of theirs need help or I will take cash, preferably tens and twenties!

MR N’s Week 9 Power Poll‏ #NFL #NFLRankings

NFL Power Rankings

1.            Carolina Panthers (2) – The Panther D seemed to have to taken 5 minutes to get going and then they settled in and shut down GB for the rest of the half.  The O was on fire and used Caaaaam’s talent with both legs and arm to put up a nice lead.  Can they hold it?  They managed to hold this game with some gutsy D *they did prevent it pretty close albeit* that ended with a great game winning pick.  A super win by the most balanced, best team in the NFL (well they don’t cheat and that makes them better than someone else).

2.            Cincinnati Bengals (3) – The Bengal D didn’t know how to deal with the mobile Manziel.  Cleveland was able to drive 94 yards for a TD against the Bengals.  Dalton was struggling to get any offensive flow in the first half.  The second half came and Cincy could simply clog up the edges and that kept the Browns O quiet (thanks Pettine, good call for Cincy’s sake) and then Dalton wore down the Brown D and got a nice win.  A quality division win for a still undefeated team.

3.            New England Patriots (5) – Playing pretty easy and out to a nice lead.  They got a penalty called for a hit on a ‘defenceless receiver’ and that is so rarely called it must have been a give back to the Pats for deflategate.  They are in control and Washington really has no chance to beat them.  The Pats used all their old tricks to just win this going away.  Another win at home.

4.            Minnesota Vikings (6) – Vikings are giving as good as they get in the first half.  Decent D, Decent O but they need to get more consistency out of the offense to have a shot in an important game with playoff implications.  With the loss of Bridgewater to a cheap, illegal, unflagged hit the Vikings had to battle to get any more points.  It took til OT for a good punt return and a few little gains and they won a gutsy game.  A key win for the Vikes who are in control of NFC Wild card and not dead in the NFC North division battle yet either.

5.            Arizona Cardinals (7) – on the bye…A solid team that has its playoff future in its own hands.  They literally control their own destiny so just keep winning.

6.            Seattle Seahawks (10) – on the bye…A team that seemed lost and then found then lost.  They seem to be ready to go.  Will be interesting to see if they can keep improving.  The division is there for the taking if they want it.

7.            New York Jets (16) – The Jets got out to a fair lead with good O and D play.  The team seems to have taken their foot of the gas and are letting a young and hungry Jag team hang around.  Can the Jets hold on?  The Jets seemed to find defensive ardor again and were able to make the stops they had to.  A win they needed to keep pace in the AFC and the Jets are not dead yet.

8.            Denver Broncos (1) – Evidently beating the stuffing out of Green Bay takes a lot out of a team.  Denver hasn’t mailed it in…they didn’t even get off the team bus in the first half.  If not for a punt return as time expired there wouldn’t even be a pulse found in the rotting corpse masquerading as Denver.  They have to try in the 2nd half.  They managed to try a little in the second half but not enough.  The D basically slept through the game.  Talib intentionally stuck a finger in the eye of an opponent.  The Cheapest cheap shot I have ever seen.  Classless.  For this team to lose this game shows a huge lack of heart and this team is not as good as their record.  Good D’s don’t play this bad.

9.            New York Giants (12) – Giants are playing pretty well on D and just getting enough done on O to have a decent lead.  JPP just can’t find his explosiveness.  So far his part in the pass rush has been a dud.  You have to wonder if he can put a finger on what’s wrong at the half.    The Giants were able to keep the game in control and won the game. It wasn’t pretty but it is a win that keeps them in control of their bad division.

10.          St. Louis Rams (8) – In a battle on the road.  D playing alright, the O is using every weapon.  Had a small lead at the half but this game is anyone’s yet.  The Rams managed to battle all the way and get the game to OT.  An ineffective offense in OT and a bad punt coverage job let Minnesota put it away.  A fair try but a lack of offense doomed them.

11.          Green Bay Packers (4) – Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has said this week that it can’t happen again, Aaron Rodgers doesn’t lose 2 in a row, Green Bay will come out on fire.  Ok they scored one TD in the first quarter and then have been silenced.  Their D can’t cover or tackle and are being manhandled by the Panthers.  It was fun to watch the first half.  The Pack were able to storm back against prevent D and got to within one score when, as Aaron Rodgers stated, Rodgers choked.  He tossed a 24k gold turnover and lost the game.  Two in a row.  Funny to watch.  Now wait to see how many points they score against the stinky Lions on Sunday.

12.          Pittsburgh Steelers (17) – The Steelers are passing like crazy and that must make Antonio Brown happy.  Out to a small lead, the D is having issues stopping Carr and the Raiders.  Whoever scores last may win.  The Steelers scored last and won.  The fact that Big Ben was carted off may be bigger than the win.  If he and Bell are gone for any extended period together then this team is finished this year.

13.          Oakland Raiders (11) – The Raider D has had trouble stopping the pass and that has put them down in the first half.  Carr has the O working and this game could be down to who ever scores last wins.  Say what you will with this loss…this isn’t the Raiders of the last 12 years.  Oakland gave everything they had to tie this game late.  That they lost by 3 was hard luck and they could have played better D but a great effort and they still are alive in the wild card in the AFC.

14.          Indianapolis Colts (19) – A team with no expectations is playing lights out.  Superb shutout D and superb quality O put on by Luck (first time this year) has them well out in the lead.  A typical bad special teams play has them only up by 10.  Can they keep the pressure on?  The Colts played hard for 60.  This was their best game of the year and this win will springboard them towards another division crown.  Excellent win.

15.          Philadelphia Eagles (20) – The Eagles had difficulty getting their rush going early but kept at it. Bradford was being quickly 3 and outed.  The D had some game early and they were able to battle to keep it 7-7 at the half in a tough road environment.  The Second Half brought lots of offense and some issues on D and some questionable P.I. calls on Philly.  The Eagles scored and scored and allowed special teams score and ended up tied and going to OT.  Right off the hop Chip Kelly called a masterful OT game plan and won the game.  Great win in a tough place.

16.          New Orleans Saints (9) – The Saints have been able to score easily but their beatable D is getting pushed around by Mariota and the Titans.  If New Orleans isn’t careful they could be beat here.  New Orleans had solid O, if battered by sacks and no D again to speak of.  In the end the total lack of D doomed the Saints.  Payton now has an out in his contract.  Might he take it midseason? They are now under .500 and looking like a team in trouble.

17.          Buffalo Bills (26) – Superb start for Buffalo.  Have their QB back, McCoy running like he’s healthy, good D.  The Bills have dominated and are in control and just need to keep up the pressure.  Taylor is the key to the effective Bills and he led them to another superb win today.  Like a brand new Bills they now sit at 4-2 and a full player in the AFC wild card.

18.          Kansas City Chiefs (22) – on the bye… they looked better in their last game and then took a week off and had a lot of teams suck ahead of them.  Congrats, you moved up because you looked better by not playing.

19.          Houston Texans (25) –  on the bye…they looked better in their last game and then took a week off and had a lot of teams suck ahead of them.  Congrats, you moved up because you looked better by not playing.

20.          Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13) – The Bucs are struggling to get the O working and the D has been beat several times.  Now Winston has to battle from behind and that is not his best style so far in his career.  The Bucs couldn’t come back.  Winston was hurt by many bad drops.  He threw a bunch of great balls but was let down all over.  The team needs to grow more mature to be competitive and victorious in multiple weeks.

21.          Washington Redskins (15) – Cousins is being shuttered by the Pat D and the Skin D has tried but can’t seem to stop New England.  Down 2 scores at the half, they need to somehow come up with offense or this game is already over.  The Poor Redskins never had a chance and were just put away.  A late prevent D TD made it closer than it was.  Never had a chance.

22.          Atlanta Falcons (14) – Any questions in regards to how good Atlanta’s D is please review how Blaine Gabbert tore them a new one in the first half of this game.  Finally Ryan was able to give them a little life before the half.  If the D can’t play better they could lose to a JV team and that would bury this Falcon team.  The Falcons managed to get the offense working a little in the second half.  They got it close.  The team needed their D to stop a pitiful team to have a shot and their D couldn’t.  A terrible loss but Atlanta is who and what they are…a terrible team.

23.          Miami Dolphins (18) – The Dolphins seemed to come out without a cohesive D (first time under Campbell) and couldn’t seem to stop the running attack.  After one drive the offense had no cohesion.  Down by two possessions *after a really bad coach’s decision at the end of the first half* this game could get quickly out of hand if they can’t turn it around.  The Dolphins just didn’t have an answer as Buffalo pulled away.  Whatever good the change at coach had brought didn’t last.  Their season is effectively over now.

24.          Cleveland Browns (23) – The Browns had to start John Manziel (Pettine’s hatred for Manziel finally was overpowered by the failed physical state of Josh McCown on a short week) and he played pretty ok. He was productive in the first half when he could simply move about the field the way he can.  Pettine came out to a half time interview and said that they would get him more centered in the pocket in the second half.  Cleveland was only down by about 4 at the half.  Manziel was a pocket passer in the second half and Cleveland never scored another point and were blown out.  Congrats Pettine, you got a good 0 points out of pocket passer Manziel.  Hope that helped you sleep well Thursday night.

25.          Jacksonville Jaguars (24) – The Jags have had issues on D but their O got it going late.  Bortles can’t afford any more golden turnovers.  They could hang around in the game and have a shot.  The Jags tried to hang around and they gave their all on offense.  In the end the D let in just a little too much and another loss is placed on Jacksonville.  They have a super O.  They need some D.  Tough loss.

26.          Tennessee Titans (30) – The Titan D has been beaten several times by Brees.  The O took a bit to get going but now they are in a tight game and this could go either way if Tennessee can keep up the pressure.  The Titan O, revitalized with Mariota, were able to answer everything Brees had and the D put on key pressure.  They got the game to OT and won it handily.  A great win for Tennessee.

27.          Baltimore Ravens (27) – on the bye…They had a week to try and figure out how to play with no real Wide Receivers now.  Will be interesting to see if Harbaugh has more of a plan than simply joining his brother in the Big 10.

28.          Chicago BEARS (29) – Not the start the Bears were hoping for.  A kind of lackadaisical D has put them down 13-0 and unless the D tightens and the O wakes up this game could be over early in the second half.  Well knock me over again!  Another great second half come back and Jay Cutler himself carved the roast beast – well he threw the game winning TD.  I can’t write that he is the future of the Bears or even the present but I don’t mind him playing this well for once in his miserable life.  A great win for the BEARS.

29.          San Francisco 49ers (32) – For a team with no place to go but up this was unexpected.  Universally the football world denounced Gabbert as a failure ‘was one, is one, will be one 5 years from now’.  He has been diligent and solid and has the Niners in a game they have no business being in.  Can they play a strong 60?  The Niners played a pretty strong 60 and they did just enough to win.  Congratulations to San Fran – that was the most life they have even shown this year.  A good win.

30.          San Diego Chargers (21) – A struggling Bolt squad has gotten off to a hot start.  Using Woodhead all over the field seems to be the weapon to beat the Bears.  A basically 2 TD lead has them sitting pretty and they just need to keep it going and they can right their sinking ship.  Abandon ship!  The D pretty much took the second half off and Rivers couldn’t get it done when the game was on the line.  They had a chance to win yet another game but We have had chances to win the lottery every week too.  Chances are nice but coming through is what counts.  The Chargers lost a heart breaker and their season is doomed.

31.          Dallas Cowboys (28) – Greg Hardy is a scumbag.  The Cowboys had offense issues early but played solid D to have the game tied 7-7 at the half.  In the second half Cassel threw his traditional pick six, they got a kick return TD and that kept them alive.  Dez made a great TD catch.  Sean Lee got concussed again (he should just retire before he kills himself or ruins his post football life) and that let the air out of Dallas. One consistency was the terrible Cowboy secondary.  They got exposed and lost the game for them.  Greg Hardy is a scumbag and the Cowboys will need to win 6 or 7 of 8 to win the division.  Good luck.

32.          Detroit Lions (31) – on the bye.  While they fired everyone but the guy who sells diet coke and the dead man walking head coach…the worst team (a) in the NFL won a game and that means worst beam (b) is awarded WORST TEAM STATUS!  Congrats you sucky Lions.  Good luck against an angry Packer team looking to win a game.

MR N’s #NFL Week 8 Power Poll‏ #nflthoughts #rankings

NFL Power Rankings

1.            Denver Broncos (4) – Talk about using a bye for good.  The Broncos came out and ripped up the Pack D with excellent passing and running.  Peyton Manning looked like Manning of 5 years ago.  A super game from Manning, coupled with the miracle reappearance of CJ Anderson gave them all the points they needed.  The Bronco D shut down the Pack and Green Bay was done.  A super win by Denver, their best of the year.  If they play like this, they will be hard to beat!

2.            Carolina Panthers (2) – Full credit to Carolina for being able to function in horrific weather conditions.  The D played a solid 3 and took the 4th off for prevent purposes and played well in OT.  Caaaaaaam was terrific again and he powered the team to a hard fought victory in deplorable conditions.  A balanced team that can play anyone, any time and in any conditions.

3.            Cincinnati Bengals (3) – Cincy is in an emotional battle with a bitter rival and are matching the Steelers blow for blow.  The last team that scores will likely win this one. The Bengals were able to capture 3 turnovers and that changed the game.  Cincy was able to use the turnovers to get them the lead.  With the lead they were able to battle the Steelers into submission.  A tough fought win to keep them undefeated.  They nearly got caught here.  This offense can be slowed up.

4.            Green Bay Packers (1) – Well how about that?  Green Bay came into this game with Mr. Perfect at QB and we watched him bounce balls all over the grass like he was Bubby Brister.  The funniest parts were when Pyro and the Idiot in the booth would say ‘Wow, no one can extend a play like Aaron Rodgers’ then I watched the ball bounce harmlessly down the field and it was 4th down.  Rodgers in the end threw for 77 yards and had a rating of under 70.  He got drilled and banged his head off the turf *the broadcasters thought he just grimaced* and was pressured all night.  The Pack D was exposed for the bad secondary it always is.  They could get no offense working and couldn’t stop the pass or the run.  They got destroyed and that makes the NFC North a little more interesting now for the Vikings.

5.            New England Patriots (5) – The Pats had their hands full with a tough D until Wake got hurt.  Then the worm turned and the Pats started to roll.  The D played well and got some turnovers and Brady was on point.  It seems that the Pats employ either spray or material that makes it hard to grip their receivers.  That was made illegal over 10 years ago in the NFL so it’s no wonder NE seems to do that.  A big win at home which amounts to a big yawn as there is no way to beat New England in Foxboro if you play the rules since they do not.

6.            Minnesota Vikings (6) – The Vikes have solid Rush o and pretty good D and special teams but they are fighting for their season against a game BEARS team at the half.  The Vikings found themselves being handled by the BEARS D and O until late in the 4th quarter.  Bridgewater showed maturity to work the Vikes into a tie and then set up the game winning FG.  It was a must win for Minnesota to keep them up in the playoff picture and they got it done.

7.            Arizona Cardinals (11) – Arizona should not mail it in.  Nothing good comes when they do that.  They are down two scores to a bad Cleveland team and if they don’t turn it on on offense they could lose this game and that could destroy them in the division.  They need to try in the 2nd half.  Musta been a heck of a half time speech as the Cards came out ripping it and stormed back to catch Cleveland and then put the game away.  They only mailed it in for half the game which is better than some team’s use of the post office.  It was a win but they got it awfully ugly.

8.            St. Louis Rams (9) – The Rams are guilty of mailing it in again and they are just not good enough to do that.  Gurley is singlehandedly keeping them in front.  They need to work harder. This should be easy for them.  Ugly first half.  The Rams were able to get a bit going in the second half and won the game nicely.  A decent half effort (just like Zona) and that got them the win.  It could have been bad if they lost it.  They won.

9.            New Orleans Saints (14) – The Saints are rolling on O and Brees is just playng pinball with the Giants D.  Superb O and passible D and the Saints are in control at the half.  The Saints O was unstoppable and their D was pretty bad.  For New Orleans this is a win and that helps the poor D play seem not quite so bad.  They have won 3 of their last four and are now .500.  If they somehow make the playoffs it will be funny watching them be blown off the field.

10.          Seattle Seahawks (15) – The Seahawks are playing good D on the road and have managed one good drive and have a slim lead at the half.  For the record Heath launched himself at Lockette and that is what destroyed the kid.  Can Seattle hold on, one has to doubt.  Seattle actually lost the lead but the D gave a terrific showing in the second half and when it counted Seattle got the one more kick that won the game.  A gutsy, season saving win, on the road.

11.          Oakland Raiders (18) – A masterful game for Oakland.  Superb Offense hitting on passing and running.  Solid D. The Raiders have stormed out to a great lead and now they may have a second chance in a row to see if they can play prevent D.  The Raiders played superbly on O and D and won this game going away.  A super win and you can see the Pride is back with the Silver and Black.

12.          New York Giants (13) – Eli has ODB and that is great and they are putting up points.  ODB can’t play D and neither can the Giants secondary.  They are down and maybe 2 more tds allowed and this game will be over.  Terrible D.  The Giants O managed to practically set every record and I think their D set every record for worst secondary play.  Close is no cigar in the NFL and everyone’s excitement in the shootout will overlook how bad the Giants D played to allow a 50 burger.  Can anyone play D? Can JPP give them a hand? He needs to add some explosiveness and perhaps some fireworks?

13.          Tampa Bay Buccaneers (17) – The Bucs D seemed like it was a Halloween ghost, simply being phantoms that Falcons caught balls through and ran through.  Suddenly the D started getting golden turnovers and Winston started rolling and now the Bucs have a lead.  Can they hold it and upset Atlanta? Right now I would say no.  The Bucs let Atlanta right back in it.  They couldn’t get any points in the second half and let Matt Ryan take it down and tie it as time expired.  The Bucs then showed incredible heart and took the opening OT kickoff about 69 yards in 8 minutes for the field goal that won the game.  Great win for this young team.

14.          Atlanta Falcons (7) – Falcons were running roughshod over the Bucs in every way but scoring.  That started to hurt them when the Ball started getting fumbled and picked off.  Turnovers are gold and giving up 13 points on them is bad.  Atlanta has to tighten it up or risk losing a game they should win.  Atlanta D played a better 2nd half while Ryan got the O working and they forced OT.  Unexplainable was the lack of effort by the Falcon D in OT. They let the Bucs march the field and then the O couldn’t get it done and the Falcons lost a terrible game that they should have won.  Does everyone remember when people said this Atlanta was better than Carolina when both were undefeated? Ridiculous.  Same old sorry ass Falcons.

15.          Washington Redskins (16) – on the bye…What do good teams do on a bye? Work out new Offensive schemes like Denver? Work on resetting the D like Miami? Washington? They went to court to battle to keep their last name.  That should help the rush offense.

16.          New York Jets (8) – The Jets suffered a key loss with Fitzpatrick going down.  Geno Smith coming in, well #ThathelpedNoOne. The fact the Jets D seems to have not bothered to show up in Oakland is the real problem.  They are getting blown out in Oakland and this is extremely embarrassing for what is supposed to be a good team.  The Jets D never gave a good accounting and Geno Smith was terrible and the Jets lost.  This team looks bad.

17.          Pittsburgh Steelers (10) – The Steelers were keeping it close and battling with Big Ben.  The loss of Bell at RB may be fatal unless their next man up mantra can pull a rabbit out of the hat again.  Big Ben blew this game.  He tossed 3 golden picks and that was the reason Pittsburgh lost.  He was the reason they lost the game and he took the blame and good for him.  Bad for Pittsburgh and now they must battle to get something out of 2015.

18.          Miami Dolphins (12) – The Dolphins tried to maintain the energy of the last two wins but the odds were long from the outset.  That they held New England to 9 points only for about half the game was a good effort.  The season ending injury to Cameron Wake let the air out of the D and they simply collapsed and got rolled up in the late stages of the game.  Tannehill had a forgettable day and the Dolphins were blown out.  It has happened to better and worse teams playing in Foxboro.  With the way New England plays and cheats it is basically impossible to win there.

19.          Indianapolis Colts (19) – The Colts got to play in a monsoon.  The wet conditions led to a lot of difficulty handling the ball.  The wet conditions did not have an impact on Andrew Luck continuing to make bad decisions and throw picks all over.  The Colts were shut down for 3 quarters and finally got it moving in the last 15 and tied the game against prevent.  They scored first in OT and then with a shot to win, Luck tossed another golden turnover and they lost.  A terrible team.  They fired their OC. They should fire their QB.

20.          Philadelphia Eagles (20) – on the bye…still alive in their pitiful excuse for a division, they now face a ‘must win’ match against Dallas.  I hope Philly can win that one.

21.          San Diego Chargers (21) – The Chargers are battling on the east coast and Rivers is not looking too bad while their D isn’t looking too good.  A complete street fight and the last man standing will win.  The Chargers continued to battle up and down the field on O and D and just when they needed to make one last stop they could not and the Chargers just barely lost this game.  A great effort that needed just a little more finish on D.

22.          Kansas City Chiefs (29) – The Chiefs took a good opportunity to cross the ocean, give it a try and show some life.  Smith has been solid, West terrific on the ground and the D is making the plays.  The total domination of the game in all three phases for 45 minutes.  They are prevent D’ing it out so the final may not represent the total destruction of Detroit by K.C. A solid win over a bad opponent but overseas so that says something.

23.          Cleveland Browns (22) – Cleveland has been able to score at will against the Card D which is confounding.  Really good D by Cleveland and they have a decent lead.  Can they hold the lead? Past history should mean no.  We will see.  The Browns got battered in the second half and McCown was nearly killed on the field.  If Pettine didn’t seem to hate John Manziel with every fibre of his being then McCown might have been taken out for his health.  As it was the destroyed McCown couldn’t get any more O and the Browns were beaten.  They played a good 30.

24.          Jacksonville Jaguars (24) – on the bye…With an explosive offense they needed to use this rest period to find some D to help out what could be a good young team in the second half.

25.          Houston Texans (27) – A poor Houston team is getting a little work done on all parts of the game and the Texans have a slim lead at the half.  The Texans were able to keep the ball moving and their D was able to handle the Titans.  It was a good win for a team struggling for life.  They had to win this one and they did.

26.          Buffalo Bills (26) – on the bye…A team that had high expectations (self imposed and bragged about) and who didn’t live up to them at all.  Can they win 4 more games? That is the question.

27.          Baltimore Ravens (30) – Ravens D is terrible but the O keeps rolling and they are in a dog fight with San Diego.  This game could go either way.  The Ravens gave a good effort despite their defensive short comings.  Flacco wasn’t all that either but he managed to get them close and got the win in the end.  The season ending injury to Steve Smith may be more harmful than this win was good.

28.          Dallas Cowboys (23) – The Cowboys are getting no O but ok D and trail by 4 at the half.  Dallas must like their chances in the second half at home.  The game is winnable.  The game would have been winnable if they had an NFL QB.  Matt Cassel is no longer an NFL QB.  This team has no offense, their D played well but who cares? They have lost 5 in a row and they are almost officially eliminated.  They would have to crawl to the division title at 7-9.  A bad team and it is laughable how people still think they are good.

29.          Chicago BEARS (25) – The BEARS have been struggling to stop the run but have been able to get the pass offense going and they have been able to keep the game within reach and are tied at the half.  Can the D play hard for another 30? We will see.  The BEARS not only kept it up but Cutler drove them to a late lead.  Once again tho the D couldn’t hold up their end of it.  They allowed Minnesota to tie and then win it as time expired.  A good effort but a loss that kills them and now they can play for jobs in 2016.

30.          Tennessee Titans (28) – The Titans are struggling to play Offense and that has them down and possibly out with only a field goal in the first half.  The Titans are in a crying need for the return of Mariota.  Mettenburger just can’t get it done anymore.  I fear he has lost his spark being supplanted.  The Titans play ok D but the O just can’t get anything done.  They were stomped *they were, the score doesn’t show how badly it was* and need to get Mariota back.

31.          Detroit Lions (31) – The sad sack rotten excuse for a crappy Lions team even fired the OC to make them better.  Caldwell felt he could put the Manning 2008 feel to the Lions O.  That Caldwell can even consider Stafford today is like Peyton in his prime says something about the thinking ability of the Lion coach.  As for the game, they never got off the plane.  Two golden turnovers by Stafford gutting the team, terrible D with no effort to stop run or pass and they are down by 4 TDs by the 4th quarter.  Whatever points they put up now are on prevent D.  A terrible team who went over the pond and played terribly.  Absolutely gob-smacklingly awful.  If not the worst team in the NFL they are worst team b.

32.          San Francisco 49ers (32) – A bad team playing ok to bad in the first half.  They are trailing but they have so little on O it’s not surprising.  That this bad D can make any stops is.  An ugly first half to watch.  The Niners played a pretty bad second half to create another really badly played game.  This team is really good at looking really bad.  What a sad sack excuse for a team this is.  Futile is a verb and a noun with this team.

As always, I love all thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements.  I appreciate someone reading my views.  I would also offer my analysis work to ESPN as some of theirs need help or I will take cash, preferably tens and twenties!
