MR N’s Exclusive #NFLDraft Second and Third Round Thoughts #NFL

nfl draft 2014

First thoughts – how stupid is Cleveland to cut Barnidge because they drafted a round 1 TE? Has Cleveland missed the whole 2 tight end set that has been in vogue and successful for the last half decade?  The Jets showing that type of team is common in the bottom feeder world – they got Jamal Adams a super star Safety so they are getting rid of Calvin Pryor who was over matched in the QB Safety role but might have shone as a #2 under Adams but nope the Jets think you only need 1 safety.  Reasons why teams like Cleveland the Jets just lose and lose and draft high and draft high.

Round 2

Green Bay takes Kevin King CB and he will help a Pack secondary that has had issues *happily to a BEARS Fan* for the last few years.  This will make them better.

Seattle trades to Jacksonville and Jags take Cam Robinson T.  O line from college are very hard to see how they clearly transition to the pro game so it may take Robinson a while to get NFL ready but he will be a good one.

Seattle – Malik McDowell DT – another Seahawk D project not unlike the one they drafted a couple of years back. Frank Clark thanks Charles Davis Typical Hawk pick.

Chicago traded another pick because they are allergic to taking top talent and when they use a top pick they pick stupidly.  Arizona has the pick and takes Budda Baker S when they mighta taken a QB but they got another good addition to what already is a great secondary.

Buffalo trades in to take Zay Jones WR – a bit of a reach for Buffalo but they must like how he fits into their receiving corps.

The LA Bolts take Forrest Lamp G The best interior lineman is now a Bolt protector.  He will help keep Rivers upright while the QB cashes AARP checks.  Good pick.

New York Jets take Marcus May S because as long as the sun rises in the East the Jets need help in their secondary.  Question is which Safety will they trade or cut now because the Jets don’t like depth.

Carolina picks Curtis Samuel RB/WR and he will add depth to the receiver corps which lacks it.

Minnesota Vikings trade up and take Dalvin Cook RB – thank the good Lord they didn’t take the woman beating scum and they took a guy with super talent who hangs with bad dudes but maybe the cold air will keep him on the straight and narrow.  Superb pick if they can babysit him in off hours.

New Orleans Saints take Marcus Williams S to work to give the woeful Saint D someone who can do something to stop the opposition from scoring.

Philadelphia Eagles pick Sidney Jones CB and he woulda been a top 20 but for a torn acl thingy and he will be back and he will be potentially a shutdown corner once healthy.

Rams are taking Gerald Everett TE and they lost a few receivers and never really have had any since Warner was their QB so this guy can catch some.

CHICAGO BEARS are actually picking someone – they take Adam Shaheen TE – nice St Jude moment there and a brave little BEARS Fan read the pick.  Chicago has been lacking a great TE since they traded Olsen and if Shaheen can transition from small school to NFL then this big beast could be a good pick.

…now only comments on picks that illicit commentary from me….

Cincinnati Bengals took Joe Mixon RB and girl abuser, numerous times, violently argumentative with parking attendants.  The entire State of Ohio and Michigan and Iowa and perhaps Indiana needs to start protesting at their mini camps and pre-season and regular season.  Playing in the NFL is a privilege and not a right and this thug has given up the rights to the privilege and doesn’t deserve the chance.  A pick that will resonate on the Bengal organization.  Congrats you took a thug who can play.  Guess if Aaron Hernandez was alive they might have traded for him.

The Skins took a good Bama LB and that will help that team, various lesser light d players are going off the board.

Cleveland finally drafts a QB and they take DeShone Kizer and he will need to grow and perhaps he can learn behind Kessler for a while and then they will potentially have a franchise QB in Cleveland for the first time in a VERY long time.

Lions grab Teez Tabor and he will add some talent to their D.  The Lions get better now.

OakVegas took Obi the unpronounceable CB and he is tall and will give them a jolt and help that secondary that had issues get better

The Texans added LB Cunningham who slid because he doesn’t sack the QB but a solid LB who can just tackle and cover will fit in very well in Houston.  He’s Vandy too.

Pittsburgh Steelers drafted a WR named Ju Ju and he will give them a solid 2 to play opposite AB and this will make the Steeler O even more dangerous.  Great pick

Nice inciting of potential riots in Philly by Cowboy Drew Pearson

2nd round ends with Panthers taking a Tackle and they can use depth on that Panther line

Third round

Highlights only…

The Saints take Alvin Kamara a first-round RB and that is a talent steel.  The Saints are filling the team with RBs and me thinks if Kamara is who Mike Mayock says he is * I do believe what Mike says* then AP may not want to take a long-term lease in New Orleans because there may not be much work for an over the hill fading child beater with someone like Kamara and Ingram there.

Rams take WR Cooper Kupp and I feel like I know him having had him on NFLN every fricking week.  He is a decent WR and will be a decent WR in LA with Goff if Goff can ever become an NFL QB.

Vikings took C/G Pat Elflein and he may not be all that but last year they were pulling people off the street to play O line so any help is good help.  A good pick.

Cincy at 73 grabs DE Jordan Willis and he coulda been a first-round pick and he may not fully fit in as he is not a scumbag but he can play.

The Saints took Anzalone the LB and he woulda been higher picked if he didn’t have health issues.  Good potential if healthy.

Denver takes a fast if fragile WR Carlos Henderson, he can be quick but can he be consistent.

New England Patriots finally make a pick at #83.  One wondered if they would EVER pick but they do and they pick Derek Rivers DE a small school guy who can sack the QB and The Patriot Way will make him the most dangerous and this will make the Pats better of course.

Pats 2nd pick in 3 is Antonio Garcia T This kid could one day be a LT, he is a beast and will be a super addition to a line that needs help.  This guy could be Solder’s replacement according to Mike Mayock the Draft God.

Chiefs take Kareem Hunt RB and if he brings all he did in college then there is another changing of the guard at RB in KC coming quick.

The Giants took QB Davis Webb and this guy is the perfect Eli backup as Eli is long in the tooth and Webb needs an Aaron Rodgers grooming period then he will take over.  Superb pick for the G men.

Texans took good guy D’Onte Foreman who will be a big body RB who gets the short yardage and goal line job and keeps Lamar Miller healthy.  Great spot for a good guy.

A lot of secondary additions late in the 3rd round a couple of team added big O line and D line.

Niners added a kid QB late C.J. Beathard who I guess they are hoping for a Dak Prescott like turn from.

An interesting if poorly run 2nd night of draft and it took a lot out of me for this so you are all pretty much on your own for the 4th to 7th rounds.  Enjoy the rest of the draft and remember people like Brady and Sherman came in the late rounds so don’t sleep on the talent that comes late!

MR N’s Exclusive #NFLDraft Round One Analysis #NFL #DraftDay

nfl draft 2014

1st  pick Cleveland = Myles Garrett DE – the unanimous first pick overall.  He immediately makes their D better and it was a very un-Cleveland thing for them to do this but they made the right pick and landed a franchise D player.

2nd pick San Francisco =  trade to Chicago

2nd pick Chicago BEARS = Mitchell Trubisky – and the BEARS just pissed away the opportunity to pick a franchise player.  To trade 3 picks to pick this guy? He is 4 years away from being a starter.  They could have had Jamal Adams, Solomon Thomas, Lattimore, Allen…omg as a BEARS *former nearly* fan this is just the worst pick they could make.  I am so offended.  My honest first reaction was ‘oh my f****** G**’. I am destitute and feel like my Bears just waved goodbye to any hope of winning more than 5 this year.

3rd pick San Francisco 49ers = Solomon Thomas DE – a superb pick, gives SF a powerful inside rush that they have been missing since retirement/drug/arrest etc. of the last few years.  He will make the front 7 of the Niners legit once again and that will help them.

4th pick Jacksonville Jaguars = Leonard Fournette RB – evidently the Jags think they need a running back to help their sad sack QB. I thought they had RBs who could tote the rock. This guy could Zeke Elliott and that can take the heat off the QB and passing game.  We will see if this can elevate a team that should already have elevated themselves.

5th pick Tennessee= Corey Davis WR – That is a REACH.  They so needed to take one of the top great D guys and they went and got a solid WR.  He will make a pedestrian receiver corps in Tennessee better but they could have taken franchise D at 5 and a WR at 18.  It is a hmm pick.

6th pick NY Jets = Jamal Adams – He shoulda been a Bear.  A superb pick for the Jets.  They get a fantastic safety who will change the philosophy of the bad Jet secondary and make them good.  A fantastic pick and now they look almost decent at secondary.  Superb pick.

7th pick LA Chargers = Mike Williams WR – they need secondary help.  Oh well.  They drafted a good WR.  This is the second good WR taken in the first 7 picks.  That, by my count, means 3 of the first 7 are NOT franchise players.  Teams 8 to 10 must be grinning now.  He will provide Grandpa Rivers a good target and that could mean LAC (not Clippers) could score 6 more every other game.  I don’t see this pick making them better than OakVegas.

8th pick Carolina = Christian McCaffery RB – a super safe pick that makes Cam Newton healthier and is a great addition.  This little spark plug will do a lot aka young Reggie Bush and he will score running/catching/returning kicks.  This makes a Panther team in need of talent better.

9th pick Cincinnati = John Ross WR – well another good WR gets drafted and at least 3 franchise D players are available and Cleveland will probably piss away their pick for a QB so the teams in the middle of the first round must be excited.  Ross will find it hard to find a ball since Dalton only throws to AJ Green.  A pick that makes them better on paper, if they throw the ball to him.

10th pick Buffalo = trades to KC = Patrick Mahomes II QB  – well they do need a future for Alex Smith but this is a reach and Buffalo has dumped their shot at getting a franchise secondary player.  This is a huge reach and the Chiefs may yet find a franchise QB here with this but I think they better buy Tums.  KC didn’t need a lot of help to be good but best available might have been a better idea.  Reach pick.

11th pick New Orleans = Marshon Lattimore CB was selected by the ‘New Orleans’ according to Goodell the twit.  That the best corner in the draft fell to 11 makes the Saints secondary a real secondary and must make Ryan, Winston and Newton wonder about where their long balls may land.  A superb shut down corner pick.

12th pick Cleveland  – trades to Houston = DeShawn Watson QB – Houston wanted Tony Romo the half a clavicle QB but that didn’t happen so they now can have Savage battle Watson and the best man wins.  With that D and a fair to middlin’ running game Watson might be able to survive as a day one starter.  A need pick but may work for this team.

13th pick Arizona Cardinals = Haason Reddick LB – One of the best LB available and he makes the Cards already stout linebacking corps better.  He will do good things: rushing, tackling and covering.  A solid pick of a great young kid.  He will excel in Arizona.

14th pick Philadelphia Eagles = Derek Barnett DE – he is one of the top pass rushers and he will help bring heat from the Eagles D to Eli and Kirk and Dak.  Barnett will pound it and he is a legit pass rusher and this will make an Eagle D better.  A good pick.

15th pick Indianapolis Colts = Malik Hooker S –  A super pick for the Colts.  They haven’t had a great safety since Superman in 2008.  Hooker is a person like Ed Reed with great hands and super tackles.  The Colts have now created a good secondary.  Superb pick.

16th pick Baltimore Ravens = Marlon Humphry CB – the Ravens grabbed another good CB.  The Ravens needed a good CB and now their secondary is getting better.  A pretty good pick.

17th Washington Redskins = Jonathan Allen DE – this great player might have been a top 5 but he has shoulder injury issues.  He would have been a super D player.  If he is still healthy then the Skins have picked a super D player.  Potentially amazing pick.

18th Tennessee Titans *2nd first round pick* – Adoree’ Jackson CB – a smaller *thanks Mike Mayock* corner who can still do the job. He can get to the ball and do the job.  He will start day one in Tennessee and this makes the Titans better.  In all, two good picks that make the Titans better than they were before tonight started.

19th Tampa Bay Bucs = O.J. Howard TE – what a super pick by Tampa. This gives a weapon loaded passing game on Tampa another fantastic weapon.  They have an/a Olsen/Gronk kind of TE now and he will probably get 10 TDs in 2017.  Fantastic pick.

20th Denver Broncos = Garett Bolles T – The Broncs have helped their young QBs with an addition to the O line.  The Broncs have D and kinda running and youth at QB.  The Tackle and his son have been drafted.  A good pick for Denver.

21st Detroit Lions = Jarrad Davis LB – the Lions have picked a good LB.  He could give the Lions a good tackler and a good pusher here and there.  A pretty decent pick.

22nd Miami Dolphins = Charles Harris DE – Another good pass rusher here.  Harris will learn with the other guys on the Fins and he will have a shot to knock Brady about.  A solid pick that will make the front seven more fierce.

23rd pick New York Giants = Evan Engram TE – a kind of a funny pick that seems like they are picking a player just to poke another team behind them in the nose.  They needed a good OL and there were two they could pick but they got another good TE.  He will help them with good offense but this was a bit of an odd pick.

24th pick OakVegas Raiders = They added RB Marshawn Lynch so this is not so critical but they take Gareon Conley CB – they took a top 15 player who has clearly shown pretty bad judgement but maybe nothing else.  He could be a super addition to their secondary and if the off the field headaches pass, he could add something to Oakland.  A pretty good Oakland like pick.

25th pick Cleveland Browns = They traded way back to this spot and who in the ever loving whatsis will they pick… Jabrill Peppers DB/S/RB/little guy hard to figure out – he will bring a lot of energy but where to put him and what can he accomplish?  Will he help the Browns woe begotten secondary? Will Cleveland know how to use him?  He has talent but I have sincere doubts Cleveland can figure out how to get the max out of him.

26th pick Seattle Seahawks =  trade to Atlanta *Seattle you needed O line you dumb asses* The Falcons take Takkarist McKinley DE/LB and he will help provide an other side of the line force to Beasley.  A good pick that makes the Falcons tougher with a solid pass rush combo.  Good pick.  Superb touch bringing his late GrandMom’s pic to the stage. Methinks there was an F word on the stage but he has heart and fire and sometimes you have to be real.

27th pick Buffalo Bills = Tre’Davious White CB – Buffalo adds a corner who can play.  They lost a lot of secondary and he will play it, if not amazingly.  He can do the job but I do not know if that is the line you want for your top pick.

28th pick Dallas Cowboys = Taco Charlton DE – The Boys got a much-needed edge rusher.  He is a decent player who can push it in and get towards the QB.  He also seems clean off the field and that makes him head and shoulder ahead of his team mates in Dallas.  Good pick.

29th pick Cleveland (who traded with the Packs to get this pick) – they take David Njoku TE – he is odds on #2 best TE and he will provide a force at TE that will have to combine with Barnyard.  Cleveland needed a lot of help and they kind of had a TE and now they have 2 and they traded to get him.  Ok.

30th pick Pittsburgh Steelers = TJ Watt – he is the little bro of JJ but he states he will make his own name and he will.  He is deeply talented and can make a difference against the rush and pass.  A tremendously good pick for the Steelers to add.

31st San Francisco 49ers (traded from Seattle) – Reuben Foster LB – a top 10 pick who slid and slid due to health issues.  He, if healthy, can be a force inside.  He can tackle and cover.  The question is can he be healthy long term.  Could be a great pick *if healthy*

32nd pick New Orleans Saints = Ryan Ramczyk T – A solid addition to the Saint line.  This will help run and pass and he will be a solid body to work with.  Good solid pick.

Round 2 and 3 thoughts will be tomorrow. Stay tuned.

10 Days Before the #NFLdraft: #NFL TV Thoughts #NFLNetwork

nfl draft 2014
We are headed towards the NFL Draft.  Haven’t been able to follow it as closely this year since Path To The Draft on the NFL Network has sucked this year and is so bad we stopped watching it.

What has happened as of yesterday is the must-ignore NFL broadcast crew has been formed.

CBS was Nantz/Simms and back in the day, Mike Carey.  Mike Carey was vilified by critics ostensibly for errors but I believe it was more due to his color.

Now CBS is going with Nantz/Romo and Dean Blandino.  The Comedian who knew nothing about being a ref is now going to be the on-air ‘ref’ expert with Romo the untested.  Me thinks muting CBS prime time and 4:30pm games this year may be mandatory.

I think Dean Blandino should go run a comedy club.

2016 NFL Team-by-Team Draft Grades #nfldraft #nfl

Buffalo Bills – B – The Bills recognized their D last year was terrible and went all in to fix it.  The picks will help.  Jones could be the long term post Taylor QB and the 5th round RB might be a good one come 2017.  Coulda used a good O Lineman.

Miami Dolphins – B – That is solely for getting Tunsil at 13.  The rest of the draft is slightly underwhelming and heavy on hope and need of work rather than solid prospect but at least they have a franchise LT for 15 years.  Tunsil will simply change the ability of Miami to move the ball in a good way.

New York Jets – C – a draft that didn’t hit all their needs and when they grabbed for a need they seemed to grab low.  If, and it’s a big if, Hackenberg becomes the next Joe Namath then this was a great draft.  No breath holding here!

New England Patriots – B – another classic patient Pat draft.  They didn’t draft any exciting prospects but built in pieces to help their needs and given the Pat ability to garner the most out of their players *by any means necessary* this could be a good draft for them.

Baltimore Ravens – A+ – In the running for the best draft of the year.  They hit on all their picks, they filled every need and got talent, talent, talent.  A strong LT, a great LB, A solid young WR, Excellent picks at DE and CB…the Ravens are a better team and if have of their picks work they could be winning their division this year.

Cincinnati Bengals – B – The Bengals spent most of their draft trying to take the player Pittsburgh wanted and while strategic it doesn’t really meet needs.  They had to wait to round 2 to get their WR and they did get a good one.  Decent if small CB in first round, a great run stuffer in the fourth.  They didn’t hit homers but hope all these singles and doubles will score for them.

Cleveland Browns – A – I wait, like most, to see how Cleveland screws this up but they drafted players they needed.  They had holes everywhere and they filled their holes with good young prospects.  They have a depth of youth at WR that will be great if half work.  They were terrible before the draft and are better now.  Not playoff better but better.

Pittsburgh Steelers – C – They had their picks ‘stolen’ by Cincy over and over.  They landed a CB in the first round who is like the girl on the hill.  When he’s good he’s great and when he’s bad, he’s awful.  They added some talent on D but they really didn’t land the oomph pick that they needed and will have to really get the most out of their picks to accomplish much.

Houston Texans – B – They did well with their 1st pick WR and 2nd pick center.  If only those pan out it was a solid draft.  Often success in drafts is in hitting the aces.  They filled out depth ably with the other picks.

Indianapolis Colts – B – Had a plan to get Luck protection and followed through well.  A good if not spectacular draft but if their O line additions give Luck time to work then their O just got a whole lot better.

Jacksonville Jaguars – A+ – The draft of drafts.  Not since 1965 when the BEARS got the first 2 picks in the first round has a team gotten 2 of the top 3 talents.  Jacksonville grabbed CB Jalen Ramsey and then in the second round got LB Myles Jack.  Add to that bounty the fact that Dante Fowler is about to have his first year too and now Jacksonville has a D.  They added talent after talent on D after this and even added a good young QB who can grow into a solid Bortles backup.  Playoff bound in 2016.

Tennessee Titans – B+ – The Titans nailed 3 of their first 4 and those picks should be day 1 big play players.  Adding Conklin to the line will give Mariota great protection, Kevin Dodd at DE gives them a high risk reward force on the D line while RB Derrick Henry could combine with Murray to give Tennessee a two headed monster to ease the pressure off Mariota from having to do it all himself.  Solid draft.

Denver Broncos – B – They bravely traded to get their QB and if he pans out this draft will be an A, adding RB Booker may be a draft steal.  Otherwise they seem to be banking on their team from last year being good enough.  We will see how that works.

Kansas City Chiefs – C-/D – I am not sure what the plan was and whatever it was, it was poorly executed.  No real solid prospects and they are hoping more than expecting.  I can’t figure out why they drafted nearly any of these guys.

Oakland Raiders – B- – They grabbed a good S in the first round to provide youth and talent in the back end.  They added some plus players in several areas and seemed to be counting on growing some draftees into NFL talent.  Not a superb draft.

San Diego Chargers – A- – I tried to not like this draft but the Bolts really hit it out of the park.  They got a great talent in 1, solid 2 and 3 and 4 and actually the punter in 6 might be the most used talent they nailed.  They are a better team after this draft.

Dallas Cowboys – B – If Elliott is a leading RB who carries the Boys back to the playoffs then they did good.  They added a Romo backup and a decent late round S but not much of the other picks seem to be much to write home about.

New York Giants – C – They seemed to draft need over talent and then didn’t take the best talent to meet their need.  A team that seemed too dedicated to their plan and not flexible enough to take advantage of opportunities.  I don’t think they are better after this.

Philadelphia Eagles – B – The Eagles were and are all in on getting their QB and if it pans out they have done amazing.  The rest of the picks were just mostly filler in my view but it all rides with Wentz.

Washington Redskins – B+ – Best draft by a team in this laughable division.  The Skins got a solid WR and seemed to do well in every round they picked in.  They really grabbed players with upside and this team got better immediately.

Chicago BEARS – B – This grade is higher than I thought it would be after round 1. I was scratching my head with Leonard Floyd LB but it will be a wait and see thing.  They did well in the 2nd round and 3rd round and grabbed a good RB in late stages.  The Bears could get 4 starters from this draft which is a heck of a haul for this team.  The immediate cutting of OG Slauson diminishes it a little for me too but in terms of draft, B.

Detroit Lions – B- – The Lions followed a plan to get players that fit their scheme.  It is hard to fault a planned approach but with the exception of 1 really solid prospect in round 2 it is hard to see how skipping over better options to meet your plan is a plan.  Grade will be reviewable if half this draft pans out.

Green Bay Packers – B – Another solid pack draft.  They aided the hole that is their O line and brought inside help on D to allow them to better use Bloodline on the outside.  They are a better team after this draft.

Minnesota Vikings – B- – They hit with the first 2 picks but the rest of the picks are a bit of a head scratcher.  The Vikings are developing a history in the recent drafts of maybe hitting on 45% of their picks and if their first 2 are starters then this is a win but it’s not a great draft.

Atlanta Falcons – C- – They seemed to reach in round 1 and then it just continued in a bit of a reach fest.  I think Atlanta might get something out of the TE and perhaps a bit of decent secondary play but not much of it will really help this year.  A head scratcher.

Carolina Panthers – D – This grade takes into account they dumped a top corner for no reason then simply drafted as many a CB as they could, whether they are any good or not.  They did ok with the first pick and are less, much less, than they were when they lost the Super Bowl.

New Orleans Saints – B+ – They only had 5 picks but they really hit on the first 3 and could have significant upgrades at DT, WR and S from this.  Shows a team can do well with little if they do the right prep.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – A- – I really like this draft.  They got the corner that everyone *including me* had mocked to them in the first round.  That helps a need with a big time talent.  Grabbing a first round talent pass rusher in the 2nd gives them a power rusher off the edge that will make that area much more dangerous.  Critics question the 2nd round pick of a kicker but…6% of all PATs were missed last year, including some by TB, and Aguayo doesn’t miss 31 yard kicks…this move could solidify the scoreboard and give them an automatic 1 and auto 3 from 40 yards in.  He might not hit 60 but everyone from inside 40 isn’t a bad thing.  A really good draft.

Arizona Cardinals – B – This grade could go up or down depending on the play/dedication/off field behavior of their first rounder.  He could be the steal of the draft or the next suspended rookie.  They took ‘window’ and he is the enigma.  They did add some good depth on O line and some special team help. All depends on the first pick.

Los Angeles Rams – A- – Got to give them credit for going for it and they got their guy.  Goff is now the Rams.  I give them high grades for grabbing a 4thround TE and 5th round WR who may be immediate weapons for their boy.  Did a lot with a little and if Goff is the Goff he should be but if he goes splat this draft is a bust.

San Francisco 49ers – C – I like the first pick, he brings a much needed force on the D line (until he retires early) but then they traded up to get a G in round 1 who was at least a late 2 pick.  The rest of the draft was not very exciting.  San Fran is a long way from contending.

Seattle Seahawks – A – A superb draft.  They grabbed superb players that met needs and seem to do this every year.  Great O line additions, Super D line addition, excellent RB grab in round 3 and a good supplemental TE.  They sealed the deal with a really excellent 7th round WR pick.  The Seahawks are a lot better after this draft!

There it is!

That is my take on those fun days of the Draft!

I welcome thoughts!

The third round had a few highlights – Cleveland took USC QB Kessler, an odd choice, Seattle added a RB and a TE and if I was that kid who ably replaced Beastmode I might be offended.

Next up, time allowing, draft grades for every team sometime next week!

Mr. N’s #NFL Draft Round 1 2016 Review #NFLDraft‏

nfl draft 2016

1              LA Rams               Jared Goff QB – An Aaron Rodgers kind of QB.  Shifty feet not a runner but solid pocket passer and he should be under center come Early September and time will tell if he’s the best.  The right pick for L.A.

2              PHIL       Carson Wentz QB – An Andrew Luck kind of QB.  Big arm, fast runner, not much experience so he gets to learn behind Chase and or Sam but he may be a great one…we will see.  Has Wentz been booed much in his life? Welcome to Philly!

3              SD           Joey Bosa DE – Well that is a shocker!  The Chargers had great needs and they didn’t go for any of them.  Bosa is a good pass rusher and now he gets to learn a new scheme and SD still needs OL help.  Interesting but maybe not the best idea here.  This shakes up the draft big time.

4              DALL      Ezekiel Elliott RB – That is a nice pick that shows still Jerry Jones rules the roost in Big D.  The Cowboys have a young RB to go with their young WR (mother beater Dez) and a nearly retired badly hurt never healthy again Romo.  Elliott should give Romo a quieter year so he might not get hurt til week 14.  Greg Hardy may be gone but he’s still a SCUMBAG.

5              JACKS    Jalen Ramsey CB – They can’t believe this guy fell to them and now with the return of their first round pass rusher…the Jags got a D to go with that polished O and we may have to put Jacksonville on the dark horse 2016 playoff list.  Superb pick.

6              BALT      Ronnie Stanley OT – He has been climbing and he jumped Tunsil.  A good pick that will make Joe Fleasy’s life easier.  He can run block too so that could help the Raven ground game.

7              SF           DeForest Buckner DE – A fierce defender who will bring a load of power in the front 7 and if he doesn’t retire in the next 30 minutes he will give SF a powerful force who can blast the run and scare the passer.

8              CLEV      TRADES to TENN               Jack Conklin OL – He is a solid OT and he will keep Mariota upright and is a safe if not superb pick as the best OL is still available but Conklin is ‘safer’.

9              TB           TRADES to CHICAGO BEARS         Leonard Floyd LB – He is a speed defender who may not get to the QB, he may be undersized, he may be like the first round pick of Miami from a couple of years back.  Years from now BEARS Fans may look back at this, watching their QB get knocked down over and over and say ‘we could have had Tunsil at LT right?’ Who’d we draft? Floyd the Barber?

10           NYG       Eli Apple CB – Wow he went before Hargreaves and he is a good DB and will make an absolutely terrible secondary a bit better.  I don’t think people appreciate how bad the Giant secondary was and is and Eli can only bring all he has to a BAD team.  A small reach that won’t do everything they need.

11           CHIC      TRADES to TB     Vernon Hargreaves CB – This guy has been mocked here since the first mocks.  They traded back and got their guy and he will bring a solid presence in their secondary and make a young and improving Buc D better and this team is getting better.  Solid pick, well played by Tampa.

12           NO         Sheldon Rankins DE – Saints needed help on D and this guy brings that help.  He will be able to pressure the QB and Rankins is a bold rusher.  He will need to develop other parts of his game but he can rush the passer.

13           MIA       Laremy Tunsil OL – The Titans wanted him with the first pick, and they traded up and weren’t brave enough to take him.  Now he lands here and this team just got better with the best OT available.  Off field crap not withstanding this guy is going to be a super LT for the next 10 or 15 years.  I am behind Tunsil and he is a beast.

14           OAK       Karl Joseph S – The best safety in the draft is now in the Silver and Black.  He brings youthful talent to one area that Oakland was missing a young star.  Now they have a Great young QB/RB/WR/LB and S…a superb pick, a touch of a reach but he will help them immediately.

15           TENN     TRADES to CLEV                Corey Coleman WR – A team with no WR had to draft one eventually and they took possibly the best one.  He is solid as a speed receiver.  A reach but a decent pick that helps a huge hole.

16           DET        Taylor Decker G – Detroit needed help in all areas and he will help keep a bad QB on his feet to allow Stafford to be more comfortable when he throws picks.

17           ATL         Keanu Neal S – ok, well they had to draft someone and they did.  I can’t say I thought this guy was first round material and Atlanta had some issues and this doesn’t help many of them.  The first significant reach and head scratcher.

18           INDY      Ryan Kelly C – indy has needed a Center since Saturday retired and now they have one.  This will be a great help to the enigma known as Andrew Luck.  A solid pick that helps a bad Colt line where it really needed help.

19           BUFF     Shaq Lawson DE – The Bills D had a severe lack of character and effort.  Lawson has a non-stop motor and he should be able to perhaps be one who leads from example from his rookie game on.  He will make them a better team right away.

20           NYJ         Darron Lee LB – Ok if I am Ryan Fitzpatrick I am happy now and about to get rich.  There is no way the Jets go forward with Geno the welcher.  Oh yeah, Lee helps their D.

21           WASH   TRADES to HOU                Will Fuller WR – The speed burner heads south and gives Houston two excellent weapons on the outside.  They must have thought Cincy was going to steal him so they moved up and got him.  A fast guy but he has a little Ted Ginn dropsy do in him.

22           HOU      TRADES to WASH             Josh Doctson WR – hmmm well I guess Washington felt they needed a WR more than anyone else thought they did.  He will be good for Cousins but this won’t really help the Skin D to stop blowing leads.  Hmmm.

23           MINN    Laquon Treadwell WR – The player Minnesota wanted lands in their lap.  A great possession receiver who will be there every down for Teddy and this will make Rudolph better as he can give up being the go to double covered TE and just be a great weapon while Treadwell catches everything thrown his way.

24           CINC      William Jackson III CB – They really wanted a WR and all the 1st rounders were gone.  They needed secondary help and as a bonus they are cutting the grass of hated division rival Pittsburgh.  I can see Marvin Lewis putting thumb to nose and saying ha ha we took the last good CB!  A decent pick.

25           PITT       Artie Burns CB – Well they really needed a CB and this guy plays that position.  He is a touch of a reach but after Burns the next CB is well down the hill.  He will help the Steelers.

26           SEA        TRADES to DEN                 Paxton Lynch QB – The Broncos just traded up to get their man.  If Elway can get him moving forward quick enough he might surprise people and be a day one starter.  He could be a project but if he can just do a rookie Big Ben thing he can figure it out while handing it off.  A great pick and the franchise QB of Denver.  Great pick.

27           GB          Kenny Clark DT – Well he will be another piece in the Packer D.  He is a decent big guy who can stuff the run and even pressure a little up the middle.  A decent pick for the Pack.

28           KC           TRADES to SF                     Joshua Garnett G – well evidently SF knows something that no one else did as they just traded up to get someone who could probably been drafted in the late 2nd.  I am kerfuffled by this one.  You traded up for a Guard? A Guard? Oh yeah, this is SF.

29           ARIZ       Robert Knemdiche DT – Someone had to take Window.  That is what I call him since he fell out of one once.  Window can play very hard and take plays off very hard.  It is possible that Arians can keep him motivated.  If and it’s a huge IF he can be motivated, he could be a pass rush force.  We shall see if this is a good one or if Arizona just tossed it out the window.

30           CARO    Vernon Butler DT – Well the Panthers took another guy who can just add more power and dominance to an already stout D.  He is a big body that will help make the best linebackers in the NFL better.  Good pick.

31           DEN       TRADES to SEA                  Germain Ifedi OT – The Seahawks just gave an area of their team that needed help some help.  Ifedi could have been a higher pick.  He is a solid addition who will help an area that needs help.  Solid late first pick.

Any thoughts are welcome!
