Mr. N’s #NFL Week 4 Power Poll #PowerRankings #NFLThoughts

NFL Power Rankings

Last Week Week 4
1 1 Kansas City The Chiefs made a firm believer out of me with that Monday Night Performance.  That they may have only been able to put the game away with the loss of a key Redskin defender isn’t damning.  That is simply football.  The Chiefs met a huge challenge from a tough team and fought back to tie and then take a lead and then in a gambler breaking play to put the game away.  Once again, the best team in the NFL.  For today.
2 2 Green Bay This is the best team in the NFC but boy do they seem to have a lot of issues.  Rodgers keeps getting sacked, the rush offense is lacking any consistency and the D can’t stop a run or cover well.  However they keep pulling out wins.  As long as they win they are this good.  When they lose they no longer are.
10 3 Philadelphia I am blown away by how good the Eagles are already.  Wentz has the O going and has a solid rush game with the Pat cast off Blount.  The D is formidable in all three areas and they are playing good special teams.  This Eagle team could waltz away with the NFC East.
11 4 Houston Look out AFC here ARE the Texans.  What a difference a QB makes.  The 30 minutes Watson spent as backup was probably the longest 30 of the Texans season.  Now with a dynamic franchise QB leader to combine with ample weapons on O and a superb D with great special teams.  I foresee the triplets of Houston will be known as the 3 D’s  – Deshaun, D’onte and DeAndre.  If this keeps going they could be playing in Minnesota in February.
9 5 Pittsburgh The Steelers D came back this week and Ryan Shazier is a force.  The O still has yet to find it’s mojo but Bell did have a good day running.  The win over Baltimore eased off the pressure on them but they really need to start the scoring machine to coast in the AFC North.
17 6 Denver Ok that was an impressive performance in all phases of the game.  The O was soild, the D was solid and the special teams was solid.  They dispatched a dispirited Raider team and looked great doing it.  They need to do this again.
6 7 Atlanta Atlanta got whipped by a suddenly tough Bills team.  This is a hard team to figure out as they can dominate with the best but can also crawl thru a game and lose when you don’t expect it.  I had thought they would have pasted the Bills but no.  Hmmm.
13 8 Tampa Bay The Bucs managed to win a game almost despite their kicker trying to lose it.  Winston goes from looking like overrated to ok he can do it.  They need help at RB and on D.  They need to play harder for 60.  They need to beat NE on Thursday.
14 9 Carolina This team confuses me.  They were destroyed by a bad team (Saints) and then went to NE and destroyed the Patriots.  How is that possible?  Caaaaaaam looks healthy and the D looks beatable but if they score 33 every week that may be less important.
8 10 Washington A team that looked good in losing again.  The Redskins have great O line, a good QB, lots of RB, some holes at WR and a good D when healthy.  They are going to be a force in the playoff race all year and the biggest challenge to the Eagles.
3 11 New England oh how the mighty have fallen.  Can they fall a touch more and lose on TNF this week?  Brady looks 40 and the D looks like they couldn’t run a 40.  They were taken apart by the Panthers and no matter how many people say that the Pats can make magic…they can’t make magic with talentless bums on D and that is what they have aplenty.
4 12 Minnesota Well the Vikings couldn’t keep the fire burning and the O was flat.  The D lost the game because they dropped 3 air mailed interceptions tossed to them by Stafford.  It was a terrible effort a bad loss to a bad team.  They need to do better.
20 13 Buffalo The Bills make you wanna shout!!!  Who knew the Bills were a good team?  I think this D is superb.  Tyrod is a good QB and Shady looks like he wants to be the force.  They keep winning I will believe more.
7 14 Tennessee The Titans got schooled by the Texans.  Mariota went down and boy did the D look pedestrian.  I think they looked power football in the face and blinked.  A loss like this could knock the Mularkey out of them.
12 15 Dallas Speaking of Mularkey, someone who says this O line is the best in the NFL is full of it.  They don’t have a great O line and their D stinks and if it wasn’t for the hapless Giants the Cowboys would be bottom feeding the NFC East.
15 16 Baltimore The Ravens had a shot to take over the division and got beat by Pittsburgh.  Flacco seems to be trying too hard and doesn’t have the talent or talent around him to get it done.  I think the Ravens aren’t all they seem to be.
18 17 Detroit I continue to not respect the Lions.  I watched Stafford throw 3 balls that would have been picked and 2 for six points each but they were dropped.  Detriot didn’t so much win as they didn’t lose.  This is  the worst one loss team in the NFL.
23 18 Seattle Seattle was in a close game and looking like they were going to be overmatched by a bad Colt team and then in about 3 minutes they blew it open and never looked back.  I cannot say this means they are good but it does mean the Colts are bad.
21 19 LA Rams Wow. I am a growing believer in this offense.  I need to see more consistency from Ram D but the O is the best O in the NFL.  Goff is amazing and I am sorry I thought he was  a bust last year.  Gurley is the MVP so far and Kupp is the best young WR in football.  Wow.
24 20 New Orleans The Saints shut out the hapless Fins.  This combined with their destruction of Carolina doesn’t yet mean they have good D.  I need to see them do it again and I will believe the D is good.  They can’t score like they used to, at least not yet.
5 21 Oakland With the loss of Carr for a bit and the deplorable play of Cooper and Lynch and the entire D…The first two weeks were a mirage and the Raiders are a pretty bad team.   Prove me wrong but I think they are bad.
16 22 Arizona Grampa Cardinal.  The nickhame for everyone on this team.  They are old and bad and a team that needs rebuilding stat.  A bad loss waiting to happen, blame it on their age.
19 23 Jacksonville The Jags took whatever good will they gained from a UK blowout and pissed it away by losing to the hapless Jets.  This D is schizo and cannot be understood. What is the real Jag team?
22 24 Indianapolis The Colts played 30 tough mintues.  The game is 60 but they did play 30 good ones.  They got destroyed. In the end the Colts are just bad and adding Luck will make them pitiable and bad.
32 25 Cincinnati The Bengals showed off some O and Dalton didn’t look like an orange haired bum.  They won a game handily and can at least state confidently that they are better than Cleveland.
28 26 NY Jets The Jets are not doing well in their tank fest.  Winning two in a row isn’t the way to suck for Sam.  They still aren’t very good but they have played good D for 120 minutes now.
29 27 San Francisco The Niners did everything but win.  They lack so much talent in all phases that it is pure heart that drives them as far as they get.  A good effort and maybe they can win one soon.
25 28 Miami OMG. Cutler is a bum but this is extremely bumlike for him.  What a horrible effot and to be shut out in UK is embarrassing.  One more loss like this and they are on a rocket ship to 32.
26 29 Chicago What can I say about my BEARS in their being destroyed by the Pack?  It’s F’ing Trubisky time.  Glennon couldn’t have given up his job any better then turning it over 4 times against GB.  What an ugly loss.  It can’t be any worse so give the kid his shot.
27 30 LA Chargers The Chargers are the forgotten team in LA.  They can’t get any luck and to lose the way they did shows they are playing under a bad cloud of smog.  Hapless and unlucky and unloved   The short definition of the LA Chargers.
30 31 NY Giants I have seen a team suck and they are the Giants.  Eli showed some life but they can’t stop enough.  The D is supposed to carry this team and they are bad all over.  Ugly.
31 32 Cleveland Well my hopes for Cleveland winning a couple faded fast.  The Browns need to get it together.  Getting Shelton and Garrett back on D would go a long way to improving this young team.
Thoughts, Comments, Questions, Arguments, Agreements?  All welcome! As always I will be happy to take money, preferably tens and twenties!

Mr. N’s #NFL Preseason Power Poll 12-1! Who’s #1? Click and find out! #NFLRankings

NFL Power Rankings

12. Carolina Panthers – a team that is relying on the health of Cam’s Arm for their success. It is a tough division too.

If Cam has issues – 7-9
If Cam is ok – 9-7
A great year – 11-5

11. Dallas Cowboys – Pre-suspension for the woman beating scumbag RB this team was much higher in my preseason list. Without him they slide because it’s a drop off to the next best.

A rough year – 7-9
Battling year – 9-7
If they can overcome – 12-4

10. Atlanta Falcons – most teams suffer a Super Bowl Loss hangover and this team will be no exception. They still have most of the weapons but teams will be gunning for them and you can’t overlook the concussion their RB suffered early.

A tough year – 9-7
A decent year – 10-6
They come together – 11-5

9. Houston Texans – this team is D and D and D. If either Savage can be ok or they turn it over to DeShaun fast and it works then this team could surprise. Still the D is enough to do some business this year.

If they have little O – 8-8
If they get some O – 10-6
If DeShaun Watson is the real deal – 12-4

8. Kansas City Chiefs – They have built a pretty solid team and the addition of the rookie RB Alvin Kamara could be the spark the O needs.

A poor year – 9-7
A decent year – 11-5
If it all works – 13-3

7. Pittsburgh Steelers – This team is going to score a lot of points and the late addition of Joe Haden at CB gives the D a huge boost. The last hurrah of Big Ben is near but this could be the year for the Steelers.

If they just coast to the Division – 12-4
If they are in control – 13-3
With Haden they are a force – 14-2

6. New York Giants – The Gmen seem to have built a team poised to make a Super Bowl run. The suspension of Elliott pretty much gives them the division. This team could a force.

A rough year – 9-7
A decent year – 11-5
They are a super team – 13-3

TOP 5

5. Minnesota Vikings – I love this D and Bradford has a full year of the offense, better running backs and an improved line. The schedule is pretty easy too.

A bad year – 9-7
A decent year – 11-5
A super year – 12-4

4. Oakland Raiders – This team was great last year and now they add Beastmode and their D got help too. They could give Oakland a championship before they go to Vegas.

A rough year – 11-5
A good year – 13-3
They are unstoppable and just win baby – 14-2

3. Arizona Cardinals – pundits say there are a lot of issues, I say they have one of the easiest schedules ever. Yes they are old but they could go out with a bang.

A bad year – 11-5
A good year – 13-3
They win what they could – 14-2

2. Green Bay Packers – The Pack may be back and this time Rodgers could get his Super Bowl return. It will take a lot of good football to knock the Pack off the top of the NFC heap this year.

A bad year – 12-4
A good year – 14-2
They may just go – 15-1

1. New England Patriots – doesn’t seem like anything can slow them down. They won the Super Bowl, they won the off season, they suffered several key injuries and just shrugged. They have to be favored to win it all no matter what.

They have a ‘bad’ year -13-3
A good year – 14-2
They may just win them all this time – 16-0

There you have it and next up is the regular season!

NFL Power Rankings

Hey everyone, here is the next 4…

16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – A preseason fave amongst many prognosticator but I can’t get past what is a pretty tough schedule. They will be better but to really improve they will have to slay a lot of beasts.

if they can’t get it working – 6-10
likely 8-8 (but a tough 8-8)
If they can slay a few – 11-5

15. Denver Broncos – People seem to forget that not having a decent QB made Denver who they are. If the officials call pass interference more often, they won’t be so strong in the secondary either. With no QB, they are likely on the outside looking in.

If it’s bad – 6-10
likely – 9-7
If they find a QB – 10-6

14. Tennessee Titans – the preseason darling of many an expert. They have a lot going for them on O and D but they have a bit of a tough schedule.

if they stumble – 7-9
likely – 10-6
If they win a lot in their division – 11-5

13. Seattle Seahawks – Boy they have a tough schedule. They will need everything to work to get it done.

if it doesn’t work – 9-7
Likely – 11-5
If they make it work – 13-3

That is it for now.

12-9 is next sometime!

MR N’s Exclusive #NFLDraft Second and Third Round Thoughts #NFL

nfl draft 2014

First thoughts – how stupid is Cleveland to cut Barnidge because they drafted a round 1 TE? Has Cleveland missed the whole 2 tight end set that has been in vogue and successful for the last half decade?  The Jets showing that type of team is common in the bottom feeder world – they got Jamal Adams a super star Safety so they are getting rid of Calvin Pryor who was over matched in the QB Safety role but might have shone as a #2 under Adams but nope the Jets think you only need 1 safety.  Reasons why teams like Cleveland the Jets just lose and lose and draft high and draft high.

Round 2

Green Bay takes Kevin King CB and he will help a Pack secondary that has had issues *happily to a BEARS Fan* for the last few years.  This will make them better.

Seattle trades to Jacksonville and Jags take Cam Robinson T.  O line from college are very hard to see how they clearly transition to the pro game so it may take Robinson a while to get NFL ready but he will be a good one.

Seattle – Malik McDowell DT – another Seahawk D project not unlike the one they drafted a couple of years back. Frank Clark thanks Charles Davis Typical Hawk pick.

Chicago traded another pick because they are allergic to taking top talent and when they use a top pick they pick stupidly.  Arizona has the pick and takes Budda Baker S when they mighta taken a QB but they got another good addition to what already is a great secondary.

Buffalo trades in to take Zay Jones WR – a bit of a reach for Buffalo but they must like how he fits into their receiving corps.

The LA Bolts take Forrest Lamp G The best interior lineman is now a Bolt protector.  He will help keep Rivers upright while the QB cashes AARP checks.  Good pick.

New York Jets take Marcus May S because as long as the sun rises in the East the Jets need help in their secondary.  Question is which Safety will they trade or cut now because the Jets don’t like depth.

Carolina picks Curtis Samuel RB/WR and he will add depth to the receiver corps which lacks it.

Minnesota Vikings trade up and take Dalvin Cook RB – thank the good Lord they didn’t take the woman beating scum and they took a guy with super talent who hangs with bad dudes but maybe the cold air will keep him on the straight and narrow.  Superb pick if they can babysit him in off hours.

New Orleans Saints take Marcus Williams S to work to give the woeful Saint D someone who can do something to stop the opposition from scoring.

Philadelphia Eagles pick Sidney Jones CB and he woulda been a top 20 but for a torn acl thingy and he will be back and he will be potentially a shutdown corner once healthy.

Rams are taking Gerald Everett TE and they lost a few receivers and never really have had any since Warner was their QB so this guy can catch some.

CHICAGO BEARS are actually picking someone – they take Adam Shaheen TE – nice St Jude moment there and a brave little BEARS Fan read the pick.  Chicago has been lacking a great TE since they traded Olsen and if Shaheen can transition from small school to NFL then this big beast could be a good pick.

…now only comments on picks that illicit commentary from me….

Cincinnati Bengals took Joe Mixon RB and girl abuser, numerous times, violently argumentative with parking attendants.  The entire State of Ohio and Michigan and Iowa and perhaps Indiana needs to start protesting at their mini camps and pre-season and regular season.  Playing in the NFL is a privilege and not a right and this thug has given up the rights to the privilege and doesn’t deserve the chance.  A pick that will resonate on the Bengal organization.  Congrats you took a thug who can play.  Guess if Aaron Hernandez was alive they might have traded for him.

The Skins took a good Bama LB and that will help that team, various lesser light d players are going off the board.

Cleveland finally drafts a QB and they take DeShone Kizer and he will need to grow and perhaps he can learn behind Kessler for a while and then they will potentially have a franchise QB in Cleveland for the first time in a VERY long time.

Lions grab Teez Tabor and he will add some talent to their D.  The Lions get better now.

OakVegas took Obi the unpronounceable CB and he is tall and will give them a jolt and help that secondary that had issues get better

The Texans added LB Cunningham who slid because he doesn’t sack the QB but a solid LB who can just tackle and cover will fit in very well in Houston.  He’s Vandy too.

Pittsburgh Steelers drafted a WR named Ju Ju and he will give them a solid 2 to play opposite AB and this will make the Steeler O even more dangerous.  Great pick

Nice inciting of potential riots in Philly by Cowboy Drew Pearson

2nd round ends with Panthers taking a Tackle and they can use depth on that Panther line

Third round

Highlights only…

The Saints take Alvin Kamara a first-round RB and that is a talent steel.  The Saints are filling the team with RBs and me thinks if Kamara is who Mike Mayock says he is * I do believe what Mike says* then AP may not want to take a long-term lease in New Orleans because there may not be much work for an over the hill fading child beater with someone like Kamara and Ingram there.

Rams take WR Cooper Kupp and I feel like I know him having had him on NFLN every fricking week.  He is a decent WR and will be a decent WR in LA with Goff if Goff can ever become an NFL QB.

Vikings took C/G Pat Elflein and he may not be all that but last year they were pulling people off the street to play O line so any help is good help.  A good pick.

Cincy at 73 grabs DE Jordan Willis and he coulda been a first-round pick and he may not fully fit in as he is not a scumbag but he can play.

The Saints took Anzalone the LB and he woulda been higher picked if he didn’t have health issues.  Good potential if healthy.

Denver takes a fast if fragile WR Carlos Henderson, he can be quick but can he be consistent.

New England Patriots finally make a pick at #83.  One wondered if they would EVER pick but they do and they pick Derek Rivers DE a small school guy who can sack the QB and The Patriot Way will make him the most dangerous and this will make the Pats better of course.

Pats 2nd pick in 3 is Antonio Garcia T This kid could one day be a LT, he is a beast and will be a super addition to a line that needs help.  This guy could be Solder’s replacement according to Mike Mayock the Draft God.

Chiefs take Kareem Hunt RB and if he brings all he did in college then there is another changing of the guard at RB in KC coming quick.

The Giants took QB Davis Webb and this guy is the perfect Eli backup as Eli is long in the tooth and Webb needs an Aaron Rodgers grooming period then he will take over.  Superb pick for the G men.

Texans took good guy D’Onte Foreman who will be a big body RB who gets the short yardage and goal line job and keeps Lamar Miller healthy.  Great spot for a good guy.

A lot of secondary additions late in the 3rd round a couple of team added big O line and D line.

Niners added a kid QB late C.J. Beathard who I guess they are hoping for a Dak Prescott like turn from.

An interesting if poorly run 2nd night of draft and it took a lot out of me for this so you are all pretty much on your own for the 4th to 7th rounds.  Enjoy the rest of the draft and remember people like Brady and Sherman came in the late rounds so don’t sleep on the talent that comes late!

MR N’s Exclusive #NFLDraft Round One Analysis #NFL #DraftDay

nfl draft 2014

1st  pick Cleveland = Myles Garrett DE – the unanimous first pick overall.  He immediately makes their D better and it was a very un-Cleveland thing for them to do this but they made the right pick and landed a franchise D player.

2nd pick San Francisco =  trade to Chicago

2nd pick Chicago BEARS = Mitchell Trubisky – and the BEARS just pissed away the opportunity to pick a franchise player.  To trade 3 picks to pick this guy? He is 4 years away from being a starter.  They could have had Jamal Adams, Solomon Thomas, Lattimore, Allen…omg as a BEARS *former nearly* fan this is just the worst pick they could make.  I am so offended.  My honest first reaction was ‘oh my f****** G**’. I am destitute and feel like my Bears just waved goodbye to any hope of winning more than 5 this year.

3rd pick San Francisco 49ers = Solomon Thomas DE – a superb pick, gives SF a powerful inside rush that they have been missing since retirement/drug/arrest etc. of the last few years.  He will make the front 7 of the Niners legit once again and that will help them.

4th pick Jacksonville Jaguars = Leonard Fournette RB – evidently the Jags think they need a running back to help their sad sack QB. I thought they had RBs who could tote the rock. This guy could Zeke Elliott and that can take the heat off the QB and passing game.  We will see if this can elevate a team that should already have elevated themselves.

5th pick Tennessee= Corey Davis WR – That is a REACH.  They so needed to take one of the top great D guys and they went and got a solid WR.  He will make a pedestrian receiver corps in Tennessee better but they could have taken franchise D at 5 and a WR at 18.  It is a hmm pick.

6th pick NY Jets = Jamal Adams – He shoulda been a Bear.  A superb pick for the Jets.  They get a fantastic safety who will change the philosophy of the bad Jet secondary and make them good.  A fantastic pick and now they look almost decent at secondary.  Superb pick.

7th pick LA Chargers = Mike Williams WR – they need secondary help.  Oh well.  They drafted a good WR.  This is the second good WR taken in the first 7 picks.  That, by my count, means 3 of the first 7 are NOT franchise players.  Teams 8 to 10 must be grinning now.  He will provide Grandpa Rivers a good target and that could mean LAC (not Clippers) could score 6 more every other game.  I don’t see this pick making them better than OakVegas.

8th pick Carolina = Christian McCaffery RB – a super safe pick that makes Cam Newton healthier and is a great addition.  This little spark plug will do a lot aka young Reggie Bush and he will score running/catching/returning kicks.  This makes a Panther team in need of talent better.

9th pick Cincinnati = John Ross WR – well another good WR gets drafted and at least 3 franchise D players are available and Cleveland will probably piss away their pick for a QB so the teams in the middle of the first round must be excited.  Ross will find it hard to find a ball since Dalton only throws to AJ Green.  A pick that makes them better on paper, if they throw the ball to him.

10th pick Buffalo = trades to KC = Patrick Mahomes II QB  – well they do need a future for Alex Smith but this is a reach and Buffalo has dumped their shot at getting a franchise secondary player.  This is a huge reach and the Chiefs may yet find a franchise QB here with this but I think they better buy Tums.  KC didn’t need a lot of help to be good but best available might have been a better idea.  Reach pick.

11th pick New Orleans = Marshon Lattimore CB was selected by the ‘New Orleans’ according to Goodell the twit.  That the best corner in the draft fell to 11 makes the Saints secondary a real secondary and must make Ryan, Winston and Newton wonder about where their long balls may land.  A superb shut down corner pick.

12th pick Cleveland  – trades to Houston = DeShawn Watson QB – Houston wanted Tony Romo the half a clavicle QB but that didn’t happen so they now can have Savage battle Watson and the best man wins.  With that D and a fair to middlin’ running game Watson might be able to survive as a day one starter.  A need pick but may work for this team.

13th pick Arizona Cardinals = Haason Reddick LB – One of the best LB available and he makes the Cards already stout linebacking corps better.  He will do good things: rushing, tackling and covering.  A solid pick of a great young kid.  He will excel in Arizona.

14th pick Philadelphia Eagles = Derek Barnett DE – he is one of the top pass rushers and he will help bring heat from the Eagles D to Eli and Kirk and Dak.  Barnett will pound it and he is a legit pass rusher and this will make an Eagle D better.  A good pick.

15th pick Indianapolis Colts = Malik Hooker S –  A super pick for the Colts.  They haven’t had a great safety since Superman in 2008.  Hooker is a person like Ed Reed with great hands and super tackles.  The Colts have now created a good secondary.  Superb pick.

16th pick Baltimore Ravens = Marlon Humphry CB – the Ravens grabbed another good CB.  The Ravens needed a good CB and now their secondary is getting better.  A pretty good pick.

17th Washington Redskins = Jonathan Allen DE – this great player might have been a top 5 but he has shoulder injury issues.  He would have been a super D player.  If he is still healthy then the Skins have picked a super D player.  Potentially amazing pick.

18th Tennessee Titans *2nd first round pick* – Adoree’ Jackson CB – a smaller *thanks Mike Mayock* corner who can still do the job. He can get to the ball and do the job.  He will start day one in Tennessee and this makes the Titans better.  In all, two good picks that make the Titans better than they were before tonight started.

19th Tampa Bay Bucs = O.J. Howard TE – what a super pick by Tampa. This gives a weapon loaded passing game on Tampa another fantastic weapon.  They have an/a Olsen/Gronk kind of TE now and he will probably get 10 TDs in 2017.  Fantastic pick.

20th Denver Broncos = Garett Bolles T – The Broncs have helped their young QBs with an addition to the O line.  The Broncs have D and kinda running and youth at QB.  The Tackle and his son have been drafted.  A good pick for Denver.

21st Detroit Lions = Jarrad Davis LB – the Lions have picked a good LB.  He could give the Lions a good tackler and a good pusher here and there.  A pretty decent pick.

22nd Miami Dolphins = Charles Harris DE – Another good pass rusher here.  Harris will learn with the other guys on the Fins and he will have a shot to knock Brady about.  A solid pick that will make the front seven more fierce.

23rd pick New York Giants = Evan Engram TE – a kind of a funny pick that seems like they are picking a player just to poke another team behind them in the nose.  They needed a good OL and there were two they could pick but they got another good TE.  He will help them with good offense but this was a bit of an odd pick.

24th pick OakVegas Raiders = They added RB Marshawn Lynch so this is not so critical but they take Gareon Conley CB – they took a top 15 player who has clearly shown pretty bad judgement but maybe nothing else.  He could be a super addition to their secondary and if the off the field headaches pass, he could add something to Oakland.  A pretty good Oakland like pick.

25th pick Cleveland Browns = They traded way back to this spot and who in the ever loving whatsis will they pick… Jabrill Peppers DB/S/RB/little guy hard to figure out – he will bring a lot of energy but where to put him and what can he accomplish?  Will he help the Browns woe begotten secondary? Will Cleveland know how to use him?  He has talent but I have sincere doubts Cleveland can figure out how to get the max out of him.

26th pick Seattle Seahawks =  trade to Atlanta *Seattle you needed O line you dumb asses* The Falcons take Takkarist McKinley DE/LB and he will help provide an other side of the line force to Beasley.  A good pick that makes the Falcons tougher with a solid pass rush combo.  Good pick.  Superb touch bringing his late GrandMom’s pic to the stage. Methinks there was an F word on the stage but he has heart and fire and sometimes you have to be real.

27th pick Buffalo Bills = Tre’Davious White CB – Buffalo adds a corner who can play.  They lost a lot of secondary and he will play it, if not amazingly.  He can do the job but I do not know if that is the line you want for your top pick.

28th pick Dallas Cowboys = Taco Charlton DE – The Boys got a much-needed edge rusher.  He is a decent player who can push it in and get towards the QB.  He also seems clean off the field and that makes him head and shoulder ahead of his team mates in Dallas.  Good pick.

29th pick Cleveland (who traded with the Packs to get this pick) – they take David Njoku TE – he is odds on #2 best TE and he will provide a force at TE that will have to combine with Barnyard.  Cleveland needed a lot of help and they kind of had a TE and now they have 2 and they traded to get him.  Ok.

30th pick Pittsburgh Steelers = TJ Watt – he is the little bro of JJ but he states he will make his own name and he will.  He is deeply talented and can make a difference against the rush and pass.  A tremendously good pick for the Steelers to add.

31st San Francisco 49ers (traded from Seattle) – Reuben Foster LB – a top 10 pick who slid and slid due to health issues.  He, if healthy, can be a force inside.  He can tackle and cover.  The question is can he be healthy long term.  Could be a great pick *if healthy*

32nd pick New Orleans Saints = Ryan Ramczyk T – A solid addition to the Saint line.  This will help run and pass and he will be a solid body to work with.  Good solid pick.

Round 2 and 3 thoughts will be tomorrow. Stay tuned.

nfl draft 2014
We are headed towards the NFL Draft.  Haven’t been able to follow it as closely this year since Path To The Draft on the NFL Network has sucked this year and is so bad we stopped watching it.

What has happened as of yesterday is the must-ignore NFL broadcast crew has been formed.

CBS was Nantz/Simms and back in the day, Mike Carey.  Mike Carey was vilified by critics ostensibly for errors but I believe it was more due to his color.

Now CBS is going with Nantz/Romo and Dean Blandino.  The Comedian who knew nothing about being a ref is now going to be the on-air ‘ref’ expert with Romo the untested.  Me thinks muting CBS prime time and 4:30pm games this year may be mandatory.

I think Dean Blandino should go run a comedy club.

Mr. N’s #NFL Division Weekend Power Poll #NFLPlayoffs #Rankings

NFL Power Rankings

1.            New England Patriots (1) – The Pats were stopped on first possession and that was it for Beli-Vader as he then drew up new ideas.  They scored a TD on a long drive, they put in a kick return and the game was effectively over.  It looked like they would cruise to a 15-point win but then they realized a lot of people had bet NE to cover so they kicked a late FG to cover the spread.  Next up they host a potentially difficult opponent in Pitt but they have the Death Star to fall back on.

2.            Green Bay Packers (6) – The Pack came roaring out and their D stopped the Cowboys for only a FG on opening drive.  Rodgers then ran the field over and over and scored 3 TDs.  A good note was that Rodgers was picked off so I don’t have to listen to ‘he hasn’t been picked off for 286 blah blahs anymore’.  They were up 18 but let in a late TD with really bad secondary coverage.  In the second half, they got it up to 28 and then their bad D let Dallas back in it and they gave up a tie.  They battled back for a lead, lost that lead and then won it as time expired.  They are on to Atlanta.  One thing I can’t believe but know in my heart is true – if bloody Green Bay goes to the Super Bowl I will be cheering on Tom Brady, Darth Vader and the Death Star.

3.            Pittsburgh Steelers (3) – Well Pittsburgh had to go on the road and then wait 8 hours while the NFL fiddled with tv ratings.  That being said Coach Tomlin decided to redefine himself.  He was mister go for it on fourth down all year.  He cost his team a couple of wins with his penchant for going for it.  Today he kicked field goals, not once – not twice but a record six times.  A very Raider like way.  The Steelers played pretty good D and moved the ball enough to get the necessary points.  They won a heck of a battle.  I don’t believe you have any chance of beating New England with only field goals.  I also don’t believe Antonio Brown should have poked Darth Vader by calling them A**sholes.  That will not be good for Pittsburgh in the Death Star.  A good win and now good luck.

4.            Atlanta Falcons (4) – Well that was some kind of game for Atlanta.  Evidently it takes a few minutes for a team to wake up after a week off.  They let in a TD and looked a bit tight on O.  Then the gates opened and Atlanta’s O opened up and scored with tds by rushing and passing.  The D woke up in the second half and started to whup on Seattle.  They put the game out of reach and soundly thrashed a really weak Seahawk team and are on the way to the Conference Championship weekend.  A great win but I still wonder if they can ‘hang’ with one of the NFL big boys.  The D just doesn’t play on point consistently enough.  They will need to step up their D game at least twice more to win it all.

5.            Kansas City Chiefs (5) – The Chiefs played a strong game and set a record by outscoring an opponent by 2 TDS and losing.  Their D managed to stop Pittsburgh every single time and they only let in field goals but that was enough for them to lose.  They really needed to score 3 tds but could only manage 2.  A fine year by KC and they will have a chance to build on this in what has to be the toughest division in football. Next year they will be the wild card while Oakland wins the division.

6.            Dallas Cowboys (2) – Dallas came out flat and their D was flatter.  They managed but 1 field goal to start and then they let in touchdown after touchdown after touchdown.  Down 21-3 and nearing the end of the first half it appeared that rust was all over the Cowboys.  They got a late 1st half TD and made it closer.  They fell well behind in the 2nd half.  Late in the game they battled and tied.  They then let in a FG.  Then they tied it.  Then with just over 30 seconds left the sad sack excuse for a Cowboy D let my most hated QB move down the field and they let in a FG and lost.  A grand season goes splat because in the end the Cowboy D sucks.

7.            Seattle Seahawks (7) – The Seahawks came out fast and ran the field and took a lead.  They held the lead until they gave up a safety and field goal.  After that the lights went out.  The ‘vaunted’ Seahawk D looked like the crap it is and was hung, drawn and quartered by the Falcon O.  After falling down by a ton, they managed to score once or twice against prevent.  Moment of the game was Doug Baldwin, after scoring a TD to make them only down by 16 instead of 23 with under 4 minutes left – he yelled at a Falcon defender ‘No chance in Hell’.  Evidently Baldwin likes to trash talk while he is being ELIMINATED from the playoffs.  Seattle had no chance in hell of winning the game at that point and they lost and they can go home and pout.  A deserved loss.

8.            Houston Texans (8) – The Texans stopped the first Pat drive and that was the high-water mark.  They needed to play clean in all phases and letting in a long kick return TD sunk that game plan.  You had 3 golden turnovers from Osweiler and the game plan is flushed down the toilet.  Down 11 in the first quarter they were done and done.  They got a TD but let in several and the season is over for Houston.  I am glad the Texans are keeping O’Brien.  It was not his fault that Osweiler was his QB so give him another year.  Perhaps give him a full off season with Tom Savage at QB and get back Mr. Overpaid on D and see what happens.

9.            New York Giants – Boat gate continues to resonate in NYC.  I think Mike&Mike *ah I did enjoy that show* said it best about Odell Beckham Gloves – you want to be the best WR in the NFL, you can’t be a no-show in the biggest game of the year.

10.          Oakland Raiders – I hear they are moving to Vegas but only after 2 more years in Oakland.  Nothing wipes out home attendance like lame duck status for a team.  That news coming out now has killed the Raiders home field until they get to Vegas.

11.          Miami Dolphins –

12.          Detroit Lions –

13.          Tennessee Titans –

14.          Tampa Bay Buccaneers –

15.          Arizona Cardinals –

16.          Cincinnati Bengals –

17.        Indianapolis Colts – I hear that Indy tried hard to hire Jon Gruden but he refused.  How supported must Pagano feel knowing they kept him only because the guy they really wanted said no.

18.          New Orleans Saints –

19.          Philadelphia Eagles –

20.          Minnesota Vikings –

21.          Denver Broncos –  Hired a coach (Vance Joseph) and he is surrounding himself with veteran coaching talent.  Having a D specialist as head coach must mean that Elway wants to take a hand in QB development.

22.          New York Jets – Saw a draft preview that said Jets need a CB most of all.  Ok, who the hell is playing QB for this team?  They need a QB.

23.          Jacksonville Jaguars – They kept Doug Marrone now as their permanent head coach.  If his interim coaching was solely responsible for Bortles looking a little like an NFLer then maybe this is a good hire.  Evidently early evidence is Tom Coughlin is sticking his nose in Marrone’s biscuits and that means life isn’t gravy for the Jag head coach.

24.          Carolina Panthers –

25.          Buffalo Bills – Hires Sean McDermott late of the Panther D that couldn’t stop anyone without Norman at CB to be their head coach.  Uh huh.

26.          San Francisco 49ers –

27.          Baltimore Ravens –

28.          Cleveland Browns –

29.          Los Angeles Chargers – Fans egged the stadium offices, Rivers says he is numbed by the move to LA, Goodell doesn’t like it, they hired Anthony Lynn from Buffalo.  Good luck LABOLTS, you will need it.

30.          Washington Redskins –

31.          Los Angeles Rams – Hired Sean McVay, the youngest coach ever in NFL.  Um at least he is bringing in some talent who will be coaches in waiting if this job is too much for him.

32.          Chicago BEARS –

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties!  Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!
