End of #NFL Mandatory Minicamp Thoughts #NFLMinicamp

We are about 6 weeks or so from training camp and ODG actually showed up at a team event!

Several teams quit a day early like my BEARS. Well it shows need for improvement doesn’t necessarily define required work in the NFL.

I have been thinking about the tale of two teams this week. Both teams are now in the category of doing something never before done in the NFL that will be or has been then outlawed.

One team has repeated done things that helped them win championships but the season after the NFL says ‘that was not right and cannot be done again’.

The other team is doing something so they will lose every game and get the top draft pick. That will be banned after this season.

Team 1 – New England – doing all it can within and without the rules to win.

Team 2 – The Jets – cutting all stars to tank and get the first pick.

A tale of two franchises.

MR N’s Exclusive #NFLDraft Round One Analysis #NFL #DraftDay

nfl draft 2014

1st  pick Cleveland = Myles Garrett DE – the unanimous first pick overall.  He immediately makes their D better and it was a very un-Cleveland thing for them to do this but they made the right pick and landed a franchise D player.

2nd pick San Francisco =  trade to Chicago

2nd pick Chicago BEARS = Mitchell Trubisky – and the BEARS just pissed away the opportunity to pick a franchise player.  To trade 3 picks to pick this guy? He is 4 years away from being a starter.  They could have had Jamal Adams, Solomon Thomas, Lattimore, Allen…omg as a BEARS *former nearly* fan this is just the worst pick they could make.  I am so offended.  My honest first reaction was ‘oh my f****** G**’. I am destitute and feel like my Bears just waved goodbye to any hope of winning more than 5 this year.

3rd pick San Francisco 49ers = Solomon Thomas DE – a superb pick, gives SF a powerful inside rush that they have been missing since retirement/drug/arrest etc. of the last few years.  He will make the front 7 of the Niners legit once again and that will help them.

4th pick Jacksonville Jaguars = Leonard Fournette RB – evidently the Jags think they need a running back to help their sad sack QB. I thought they had RBs who could tote the rock. This guy could Zeke Elliott and that can take the heat off the QB and passing game.  We will see if this can elevate a team that should already have elevated themselves.

5th pick Tennessee= Corey Davis WR – That is a REACH.  They so needed to take one of the top great D guys and they went and got a solid WR.  He will make a pedestrian receiver corps in Tennessee better but they could have taken franchise D at 5 and a WR at 18.  It is a hmm pick.

6th pick NY Jets = Jamal Adams – He shoulda been a Bear.  A superb pick for the Jets.  They get a fantastic safety who will change the philosophy of the bad Jet secondary and make them good.  A fantastic pick and now they look almost decent at secondary.  Superb pick.

7th pick LA Chargers = Mike Williams WR – they need secondary help.  Oh well.  They drafted a good WR.  This is the second good WR taken in the first 7 picks.  That, by my count, means 3 of the first 7 are NOT franchise players.  Teams 8 to 10 must be grinning now.  He will provide Grandpa Rivers a good target and that could mean LAC (not Clippers) could score 6 more every other game.  I don’t see this pick making them better than OakVegas.

8th pick Carolina = Christian McCaffery RB – a super safe pick that makes Cam Newton healthier and is a great addition.  This little spark plug will do a lot aka young Reggie Bush and he will score running/catching/returning kicks.  This makes a Panther team in need of talent better.

9th pick Cincinnati = John Ross WR – well another good WR gets drafted and at least 3 franchise D players are available and Cleveland will probably piss away their pick for a QB so the teams in the middle of the first round must be excited.  Ross will find it hard to find a ball since Dalton only throws to AJ Green.  A pick that makes them better on paper, if they throw the ball to him.

10th pick Buffalo = trades to KC = Patrick Mahomes II QB  – well they do need a future for Alex Smith but this is a reach and Buffalo has dumped their shot at getting a franchise secondary player.  This is a huge reach and the Chiefs may yet find a franchise QB here with this but I think they better buy Tums.  KC didn’t need a lot of help to be good but best available might have been a better idea.  Reach pick.

11th pick New Orleans = Marshon Lattimore CB was selected by the ‘New Orleans’ according to Goodell the twit.  That the best corner in the draft fell to 11 makes the Saints secondary a real secondary and must make Ryan, Winston and Newton wonder about where their long balls may land.  A superb shut down corner pick.

12th pick Cleveland  – trades to Houston = DeShawn Watson QB – Houston wanted Tony Romo the half a clavicle QB but that didn’t happen so they now can have Savage battle Watson and the best man wins.  With that D and a fair to middlin’ running game Watson might be able to survive as a day one starter.  A need pick but may work for this team.

13th pick Arizona Cardinals = Haason Reddick LB – One of the best LB available and he makes the Cards already stout linebacking corps better.  He will do good things: rushing, tackling and covering.  A solid pick of a great young kid.  He will excel in Arizona.

14th pick Philadelphia Eagles = Derek Barnett DE – he is one of the top pass rushers and he will help bring heat from the Eagles D to Eli and Kirk and Dak.  Barnett will pound it and he is a legit pass rusher and this will make an Eagle D better.  A good pick.

15th pick Indianapolis Colts = Malik Hooker S –  A super pick for the Colts.  They haven’t had a great safety since Superman in 2008.  Hooker is a person like Ed Reed with great hands and super tackles.  The Colts have now created a good secondary.  Superb pick.

16th pick Baltimore Ravens = Marlon Humphry CB – the Ravens grabbed another good CB.  The Ravens needed a good CB and now their secondary is getting better.  A pretty good pick.

17th Washington Redskins = Jonathan Allen DE – this great player might have been a top 5 but he has shoulder injury issues.  He would have been a super D player.  If he is still healthy then the Skins have picked a super D player.  Potentially amazing pick.

18th Tennessee Titans *2nd first round pick* – Adoree’ Jackson CB – a smaller *thanks Mike Mayock* corner who can still do the job. He can get to the ball and do the job.  He will start day one in Tennessee and this makes the Titans better.  In all, two good picks that make the Titans better than they were before tonight started.

19th Tampa Bay Bucs = O.J. Howard TE – what a super pick by Tampa. This gives a weapon loaded passing game on Tampa another fantastic weapon.  They have an/a Olsen/Gronk kind of TE now and he will probably get 10 TDs in 2017.  Fantastic pick.

20th Denver Broncos = Garett Bolles T – The Broncs have helped their young QBs with an addition to the O line.  The Broncs have D and kinda running and youth at QB.  The Tackle and his son have been drafted.  A good pick for Denver.

21st Detroit Lions = Jarrad Davis LB – the Lions have picked a good LB.  He could give the Lions a good tackler and a good pusher here and there.  A pretty decent pick.

22nd Miami Dolphins = Charles Harris DE – Another good pass rusher here.  Harris will learn with the other guys on the Fins and he will have a shot to knock Brady about.  A solid pick that will make the front seven more fierce.

23rd pick New York Giants = Evan Engram TE – a kind of a funny pick that seems like they are picking a player just to poke another team behind them in the nose.  They needed a good OL and there were two they could pick but they got another good TE.  He will help them with good offense but this was a bit of an odd pick.

24th pick OakVegas Raiders = They added RB Marshawn Lynch so this is not so critical but they take Gareon Conley CB – they took a top 15 player who has clearly shown pretty bad judgement but maybe nothing else.  He could be a super addition to their secondary and if the off the field headaches pass, he could add something to Oakland.  A pretty good Oakland like pick.

25th pick Cleveland Browns = They traded way back to this spot and who in the ever loving whatsis will they pick… Jabrill Peppers DB/S/RB/little guy hard to figure out – he will bring a lot of energy but where to put him and what can he accomplish?  Will he help the Browns woe begotten secondary? Will Cleveland know how to use him?  He has talent but I have sincere doubts Cleveland can figure out how to get the max out of him.

26th pick Seattle Seahawks =  trade to Atlanta *Seattle you needed O line you dumb asses* The Falcons take Takkarist McKinley DE/LB and he will help provide an other side of the line force to Beasley.  A good pick that makes the Falcons tougher with a solid pass rush combo.  Good pick.  Superb touch bringing his late GrandMom’s pic to the stage. Methinks there was an F word on the stage but he has heart and fire and sometimes you have to be real.

27th pick Buffalo Bills = Tre’Davious White CB – Buffalo adds a corner who can play.  They lost a lot of secondary and he will play it, if not amazingly.  He can do the job but I do not know if that is the line you want for your top pick.

28th pick Dallas Cowboys = Taco Charlton DE – The Boys got a much-needed edge rusher.  He is a decent player who can push it in and get towards the QB.  He also seems clean off the field and that makes him head and shoulder ahead of his team mates in Dallas.  Good pick.

29th pick Cleveland (who traded with the Packs to get this pick) – they take David Njoku TE – he is odds on #2 best TE and he will provide a force at TE that will have to combine with Barnyard.  Cleveland needed a lot of help and they kind of had a TE and now they have 2 and they traded to get him.  Ok.

30th pick Pittsburgh Steelers = TJ Watt – he is the little bro of JJ but he states he will make his own name and he will.  He is deeply talented and can make a difference against the rush and pass.  A tremendously good pick for the Steelers to add.

31st San Francisco 49ers (traded from Seattle) – Reuben Foster LB – a top 10 pick who slid and slid due to health issues.  He, if healthy, can be a force inside.  He can tackle and cover.  The question is can he be healthy long term.  Could be a great pick *if healthy*

32nd pick New Orleans Saints = Ryan Ramczyk T – A solid addition to the Saint line.  This will help run and pass and he will be a solid body to work with.  Good solid pick.

Round 2 and 3 thoughts will be tomorrow. Stay tuned.

10 Days Before the #NFLdraft: #NFL TV Thoughts #NFLNetwork

nfl draft 2014
We are headed towards the NFL Draft.  Haven’t been able to follow it as closely this year since Path To The Draft on the NFL Network has sucked this year and is so bad we stopped watching it.

What has happened as of yesterday is the must-ignore NFL broadcast crew has been formed.

CBS was Nantz/Simms and back in the day, Mike Carey.  Mike Carey was vilified by critics ostensibly for errors but I believe it was more due to his color.

Now CBS is going with Nantz/Romo and Dean Blandino.  The Comedian who knew nothing about being a ref is now going to be the on-air ‘ref’ expert with Romo the untested.  Me thinks muting CBS prime time and 4:30pm games this year may be mandatory.

I think Dean Blandino should go run a comedy club.

“Who’s the Best Team?” Mr N’s #NFL Week 11 Power Poll #NFLRankings #PowerPoll

NFL Power Rankings

1. Dallas Cowboys (1) – The Cowboys are uncharacteristically struggling against the sad sack Raven team. Troubles with O and D and they are in a dogfight. We will see what kind of guts Dallas has here. The Cowboys showed off their guts and when it got close they pulled away and put it away. Dak and Zeke and Dez are superb triplets. Another win by the best team in the NFL.

2. Seattle Seahawks (3) – The Seahawks seemed to hear all about how ‘good’ the Eagle D was as they made it a point to humiliate them. Trick plays, great long runs, superb passes. They kicked the Eagles ass. Superb D massacred Wentz. A quality win over a very over rated opponent.

3. Oakland Raiders (4) – Oye Oakland! They found themselves in a relative home game south of the border. No word if they had to climb over a wall either coming or going. The Raiders traded scores with a game Houston team and still found themselves trailing as the game got late. A superb rally from Carr put the Raiders even and then ahead for good. A great win for a Great Raider team!

4. New England Patriots (5) – The Pats seemed to not take this match seriously for about 25 minutes. They took a lead but wouldn’t put the rotten Niners away. Finally, in the second half they turned it on and they started to blow the game away. It was a blowout but a backdoor cover garbage TD made it look closer. Ho hum they whupped a crappy team.

5. Kansas City Chiefs (2) – Struggling to get control of a game against a lesser light. They have managed a TD and need to get tighter in pass coverage or this could be a long day. Boy was this a long day in KC. The D played pretty good in holding the Bucs to 4 FG and a TD but the O was asleep. They managed only 2 TDs and a FG and that isn’t good math. Kansas City couldn’t catch Tampa and lost this game. One can only think they mailed it in. What an abominable loss and now I have it open to whether this team is a mirage. This bears watching.

6. New York Giants (7) – It appears the NYG decided that they were already 8-3 with wins over Chicago today and Cleveland next week. Their effort has been deplorable. It is a basket of deplorables to quote someone J and they are trailing at the half and could blow a winnable game unless they wake up. The Giants O was never really able to get it going but boy did the D come out in the 2nd half. They bottled up the Bears and that let NY to just score enough to get an ugly win. They may be 8-3 in 2 weeks but this was an ugly win.

7. Washington Redskins (9) – The Washington Redskins came into this matchup as the nominal favorite. They seemed to play like a prize fighter trying to test out his opponent. They traded TDs, steady for a bit but then the Skins kept scoring and the Skin D started making stops. It didn’t take long before Washington was wiping the floor with a bad Pack team. Hope Green Bay was hungry as Washington fed them another forty burger. A solid win for a great team.

8. Denver Broncos (6) – on the bye, they need to get better performance at QB because the issues this team has against the rush means they can’t carry a bad QB to a Super Bowl again.

9. Detroit Lions (11) – Just when you think the Lions have turned the corner they turn back into the same old Sorry Assed Lions. They are at their self-defeating best and are doing all they can to let a bad Jag team to beat them. The Lions managed to fall behind and it really looked for a while they were going to lose but no…they didn’t. The Lions battled back and took the lead and then the D held on for a win. It was an ugly gutsy win for Detroit. They get rewarded with another game in less than 4 days.

10. Carolina Panthers (12) – The Panthers look like a team just 3 days off a bad loss. Offense troubled with blocking issues and sacks allowed. D is just the basic flat. A very flat first half performance. The Panthers had trouble with D and O but kept at it. They drew to a tie and made the plays necessary to grab a close win. They keep winning and that is good this time of the year.

11. Atlanta Falcons (10) – on the bye, the Falcons O was asleep against Philly and they need to wake up to keep the roll going.

12. Miami Dolphins (14) – A team that looked like they didn’t like the plane ride. They struggled for most of the game. Tannehill played like total crap. The team could do nothing on O and the D played ok but after allowing a TD and a FG it looked like they were dead. Then they put together 2 miracle drives in 5 minutes and they won. What an incredible comeback. I am glad I watched it as I still don’t believe it. The Dolphins are nominally alive in the Wild Card and that was quite the win!

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (16) – Shutting out a bad Cleveland team and pretty much having their way. Not really trying but you don’t really have to, to beat Cleveland. The Steelers really mailed it in here and played some decent D but beyond a big LeVeon day it was quiet on O. They won a game that should have been a laugher but a win is a win is a win. And they are the only AFC North team to do it today.

14. Arizona Cardinals (8) – Palmer committed the cardinal sin of a red zone golden turnover that became a pick 6. The Cards are playing ok D and ok O but need a better effort all over to win a game they should be well ahead in. The Cards turned it over too much and gave up a key special teams TD. That can’t help a team whose D also lets in scores. The Cardinals lost this game and this pretty much sticks a fork in this team. A bad loss.

15. Buffalo Bills (19) – The Bills got an early TD and now have maybe lost their best RB. Taylor getting whacked a lot but the D playing well. The Bills have a shot here. The Bills played super D and that was the key here. They got just enough O and managed to hold on for a super road win. Well done.

16. Houston Texans (13) – The Texans went to Mexico and remembered that once they belonged to them. They played pretty good O and D for 45 minutes and had a late lead. The D couldn’t seal the deal and after 2 TDs the O had nothing left. The Texans lost a tough one but still have the lead in their rotten division.

17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (20) – The Bucs are keeping it close on the road here with some decent throws by Winston and a D that so far is keeping the Chiefs pretty well in check. Winston did just enough for the whole game to put his team in the position to win. The D played it’s butt off and made the stops they had to. Tampa stole a game in a tough environment. What an amazing win for Tampa.

18. Baltimore Ravens (15) – Good start by Baltimore with solid D and some basic O and Baltimore is in the game. The Ravens much vaunted D *vaunted on every TV station* got beat by the pass and run and were rolled up and spit out. The Ravens couldn’t score near enough and the D couldn’t stop anything. Another loss for an overrated and poor Raven team.

19. New Orleans Saints (18) – Saints look like a team just 3 days off a bad loss. Offense troubled with blocking issues and drops. D is just the basic flat. A very flat first half performance. The Saints actually played a decent game on D and managed to do everything they could to give them a shot but they lost it by THAT much. Close but no cigar. Another loss.

20. Minnesota Vikings (28) – The Vikes have had a pretty decent first half with good D and some workable O. They are keeping in a game and playing pretty well. They need a full 60-minute effort. The Vikes played a game they hadn’t in weeks. Great D with scoring, Special teams with scoring and just enough O to get just enough points to hold on for a key win. The Vikings may just not be dead yet. What a win.

21. Indianapolis Colts (25) – The Colts are the beneficiary of playing a team who thinks they are the big bad. Luck is having his way and just dominating a team that should be kicking his butt. A large lead and it will be a modern miracle for them to lose this game but Indy does suck so it’s not impossible. The Colts did what they could to get Tennessee back in this game but no matter how they tried they couldn’t lose it and Indy won a close one. A really BAD Colt team has a win.

22. San Diego Chargers (22) – on the bye, this team has heart but maybe no place to play in San Diego after this season. The LA Chargers will just be odd to see and say.

23. New York Jets (24) – on the bye, here’s hoping they can keep being Petty in NY. They are in the midst of a lost season, let the kid play.

24. Tennessee Titans (21) – Tennessee in the unenviable position of playing a team they think is their Demon and they are scared to play them well. They are now way down and unless they pull their heads out of their butts they will lose a game they should be kicking butt in. The Titans are in the spot Houston was in for the last couple of years. They just can’t mentally get past Indy. They got it close but couldn’t seal the deal and Tennessee must be counted as simply a pretender, not a contender.

25. Philadelphia Eagles (23) – Evidently the world thinks the Eagles D is better than it is. They couldn’t stop passes or runs. They fell behind deep and Wentz threw 2 golden picks. They were bad and the turnovers killed them. A bad loss for a team that is not who anyone thnks they are. Except for me as I don’t think they are very good.

26. Cincinnati Bengals (17) – Cincy struggling at home with Dalton making errors. The D has bent but not broken as much in the red zone. Cincy needs no more turnovers and then they can try to get a win here. Andy Dalton just couldn’t get any points. One would have thought this was a road game. They were tough on D but terrible on O and a bad Bengal team loses another. Ugly home loss.

27. Los Angeles Rams (26) – The Rams dusted off their 1st overall pick and he, well, he…didn’t suck. He showed some poise and some angst but he didn’t toss picks. He did very little but got his team out to a 2-possession lead. The D played amazing. This was a good Ram D *for 54 minutes*. They dominated the line of scrimmage and shut out the Dolphins for most of the day. Then they started making stupid penalties and played prevent and gave up 2 scores and they…lost. Goff didn’t do much but he didn’t lose it, the D lost it. What a horrid loss.

28. Green Bay Packers (27) – The past is prologue here. Green Bay had the appearance of a good team. SNF broadcasters sang praises of the old Packer D stars who were out there early. Alas the praises lasted longer than good play by the likes of Bloodline and his buddies. Aaron was just too R-E-L-A-X-E-D to be able to keep up with a good offense. The Pack couldn’t score enough and their D lets in WAY too much. Another ugly loss for a team that is just a shell and absolutely no good.

29. San Francisco 49ers (29) – The Niners were outclassed from the start. They managed to keep it a little close for a while but then the D played like it can. They let in TD after TD and got so far down it mattered little what they did. A terrible effort by a bad team and another loss.

30. Chicago BEARS (30) – Cutler, the veritable girl on the hill, is having one of his good games so far. The BEARS are scoring like crazy and if they could make more tackles they might be way ahead. A good 30 minutes but no guarantees they can do this for 60. Cutler was Cutler the bad and turned it over AGAIN. The BEARS O did nothing in the second half and down went the Bears. Word is Romo might be an option in 2017. I hope for Baker Mayfield and if Romo is there then Mayfield redshirts til 2018.

31. Jacksonville Jaguars (31) – Getting some traction with both Offense and Defense and are really in a game they had no hope of having a shot at. They could yet win this game. The Jags battled and pulled into a short lead. The D had been very effective and just needed to hold on. They couldn’t. It was I guess too much to ask as the Jags surrendered the lead. The O had a shot late to tie it but failed and a team who once had hope lost another.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Getting pounded by the Steeler D and not able to get any O going. The D has stopped some drives but not all and they are well on the way to another loss. The loss of Kessler doomed any hope they had. The D allowed too many and poor play killed any other shot they had. Another loss for the team on the road to 0-16.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

Mr. N’s #NFL Week 5 Power Poll #PowerRankings #NFLThoughts

NFL Power Rankings

1. Minnesota Vikings (2) – They played ‘Creeping Death’ while the Vike D took the field and that is so appropriate. This D is just a wall of death and they are killing any chance Houston has to win this game. With Bradford and the special teams combining for 24 in the first half this game is basically over. The Vikings put up 30+ which is like 50 for any other team. They did let in their most points yet (13) but that was just prevent D. A superb win that was easy and now it’s on to the next victim.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers (4) – Wearing the gawdawful Bumble Bee unis they are in a fight for their life against a questionable Jets team. Often they can run amok but are having trouble getting their D to stop the Fitz led attack. The Steelers need to give their head a shake and wake up. Well I guess Tomlin tore the roof off the clubhouse because the Steelers came out buzzing and really stung the Jets. A lot of activity in their hive of defense and constant swarming by the O and the Steelers won this one going away. J

3. Green Bay Packers (5) – The Packers were able to use all their weapons in what wasn’t a great game but it was effective. Rodgers got Nelson, Cobb, Adams and even their big weighted running back productively into the game and the D did enough to hold Eli to under 200 yards. Green Bay still doesn’t seem to be as good as it was a few years back but they are rolling as long as they don’t face Minnesota.

4. Dallas Cowboys (7) – The Cowboys came out in an incredible fury on D and played some of the best D that I didn’t even know they had the ability to play. Prescott looked fine at QB and Elliott tore the Bengals a new one with his ground work. From the start until they went into clock killing prevent the Cowboys dominated on all phases. This is one of the best games I have seen Dallas play in years and now, until they are beaten, they are the BEST team in the NFC East and if they play D like this going forward they are a legit contender. A great win.

5. Oakland Raiders (8) – The Oakland Raiders had some early trouble against their hated rival but Carr never gave up. They missed a kick early and that might have had an impact but no they battled. The D came and went but Derek Carr would not be unbound. Taking advantage of golden turnovers and displaying the now famous Raider Gunslinger attitude the Raiders came from behind and beat the Chargers. A fine win for a team that is now tied in their division.

6. Seattle Seahawks (6) – On the bye, they are not what they used to be but with everyone else in their division stinking up the joint lately it don’t take much for them to impress. Let’s see what they do in week 6.

7. Atlanta Falcons (11) – The Falcons came out on fire and on the road against what was thought to be one of the best D’s in football they have dominated. They have dominated on both sides of the ball with a defense playing even better than it has anytime this year. Atlanta has battered Denver for rushing yards, ripped the secondary for passing yards and crushed the Denver O line with amazing pass rush ability. This is the best game I have seen Atlanta play since 1998 and they are a Superb team. What a fantastic win.

8. Washington Redskins (16) – The Redskins D has had some tough times against Baltimore but the O is getting it done while still struggling some. The Offense needs to get a lot more productive if they want to have a shot at winning this game. Washington brought the D in the second half and played superbly for the last 30 and won this game on the backs of solid fundamental D. Very well done. If they can play that kind of D in division they may yet have a shot in the crappy NFC Least.

9. Buffalo Bills (17) – Notorious for not travelling well the Bills, coming off an emotional win last week have come to sunny SoCal and kicked Ram ass. The Bills D seems legit. One in New England might have been an accident but two now, counting today, is a trend. Taylor just did the little he had to and that was enough to put up the points that when added to a pick 6, gave them a nice win. Superb effort on the road and Buffalo is quickly appearing to be a decent team and could hang around in the wild card discussion. A great win.

10. Denver Broncos (1) – The Broncos had the opportunity to have the world see that their D could stop the best O. Then the game started and the vaunted Denver D was battered and bashed and ripped and torn and then the O was blasted for sacks and picks and fumbles. At one point they were down 17 at home and although they got a late score to make it closer it wasn’t close. This D can’t be the same class as Minnesota if they get beat like this. The Broncos are not very good if the D isn’t good. What a terrible loss.

11. Houston Texans (15) – Well there isn’t much you can say here. The Texan O has no chance in hell of getting anything substantive against the Viking D and the Texan D is having trouble stopping Bradford. A bad combo. Game is over at the half. The Texans were never able to get any O working and the D got beat too many times and in the end a garbage TD made it not as ugly as it was. No shame in being schooled by the Best team in the NFL.

12. Kansas City Chiefs (13) – On the bye, they get Charles back at RB, they have looked really good and pretty flat. They have every opportunity to make a mark this year and will bear watching to see how hard this D can play the rest of the way.

13. Baltimore Ravens (12) – The Battle of the Beltway is a closely fought battle with some O from Baltimore and some D but they need a lot more consistency to win this one. In doubt at the half. The Ravens were completely shut down by the Skin D and never scored again. It was a nail biter but in the end the utter lack of Raven ability to score doomed them. This team was once undefeated and WAY over rated. A bad loss.

14. Cincinnati Bengals (9) – The Bengals seem to have forgotten they had to play once they got to Dallas. The O was stifled, the D was porous and gutted by the run. Before they shook the sleep out of their helmets they were down 4 scores and it might take 7 years to come back. They got a couple of cheap late scores against prevent but in reality they were pounded and just don’t look very good. A bad loss.

15. New England Patriots (20) – Evidently Brady isn’t rusty. He has come out and torn the sad sack Browns a new one. They are up by 3 TDs and show no signs of letting up. This could be a fifty burger. Just a total destruction on O and D. Brady just kept up the pressure and the Pats rolled over the Browns. A solid win and now we need to see this team play a good team.

16. Carolina Panthers (14) – One would have thought Derek Anderson, some running and the Panther D would be enough but alas the ingredient over emphasized (all year so far) is the D. Of course turnovers are gold and 4 turnovers will destroy most teams. The Panther D just isn’t any good. Anderson struggled to get many points but he did keep them in the game until when it came time for a stop the Panther D couldn’t do it and they lost the game. A bad loss for what is a bad team. An aside, Caaaaam on a Segway was a pretty stupid thing and he should be more concerned about getting healthy rather than doing that.

17. Arizona Cardinals (21) – The Cardinals may have been desperate for a win but if they hadn’t been able to get the turnovers from San Fran it might not have mattered. They ran the ball well but that only led to 1 TD, the passing O was not impressive and if San Fran had controlled the ball all game we might be looking at a 1-4 Cardinal team. People read a lot into two of their close losses…they should read something out of this close win. This win hasn’t fixed every problem with Arizona, don’t start printing playoff tickets yet.

18. Jacksonville Jaguars (18) – On the bye. The D seems to be getting better, as does the O. With Houston and Indy being deeply flawed this young team of comers may yet still have a shot at the division.

19. Philadelphia Eagles (3) – Well someone needs to tell Phillly that their bye is over. The D has been terrible and the O hasn’t been able to accomplish much and unless they turn it around it is going to be a very ugly loss that will destroy them in my power poll. Well Philadelphia was unable to get the points they needed to get a comfy lead. Wentz got them just ahead late but the D just stunk out the house and let Detroit beat them. Beating Pittsburgh was a fluke, this team may be the 4-12 team I thought they were and they may have just won 3 of their 4 at the start. Ugly loss that dooms them.

20. Los Angeles Rams (15) – The Rams O never were able to get much consistency going against a tough Bill D. Keenum struggled against pressure and tough coverage. The Rams D had no answer to Shady McCoy and the turnovers were golden. The Rams fall to earth and now it is an open question as to just how good this D really is. A tough loss.

21. New York Giants (19) – The G-men couldn’t find the D to stop the variety of offense put at them by Green Bay. Normally they could just score and score to keep up in shootouts but Eli has had some offensive problems the last two weeks. He got barely anything in the air and the ground game is a mess. The Giants are fading fast. A bad loss.

22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (24) – Tampa really seemed up for Monday Night and Winston did an admirable job of battling for the whole 60. The Bucs took advantage of turnover after turnover and when they couldn’t score 7 they took 3. They found a decent rush attack and Winston did toss a TD and with a rookie kicker hitting on all cylinders they won a nice division win. Well done Tampa.

23. Indianapolis Colts (25) – Luck and his boys seem no worse for having to play fresh off playing in England (the silly NFL social experiment may show that a team CAN play in London – eek) and the Colts O is playing pretty good. The D is getting beat and they are barely ahead in a tough battle against the BEARS. The Colts D allowed a ton of yards but Luck had an answer for it all. I give them full credit for battling for a win in a hard situation. A good win but that D is pretty bad.

24. Detroit Lions (28) – Well Detroit is off to an amazing start and Stafford is ripping it up. A good performance by a bad Detroit D has them well out in front. Can they not self-defeat today? That remains to be seen. The Lions played classic Lion ball. Bad penalties, turnovers and questionable D but they kept it close and Stafford did just enough to get a close win. Well done. They suck but it was a nice win.

25. New York Jets (23) – The Jets D is playing mediocre but Fitz has not turned it over a zillion time so the Jets are actually ahead in a game they likely should be being blown out in. What will the last 30 minutes bring? The Jets tried but had no answer to the Steeler O and couldn’t get much out of Fitz and they are 1-4 and it is just going downhill from here. Ugly loss.

26. New Orleans Saints (26) – On the bye…still looking for their D but they couldn’t find it. It is now seen on the backs of milk cartons all across Louisiana.

27. Tennessee Titans (29) – Tennessee has been all offense in the first half. Amassing their best O in a half they have a lead over Miami and now need to show they can hold it and perhaps expand on it. The Titans O was run very effectively with Mariota running and throwing. Murray was solid on the ground and the D played well and they got a nice win. They need to play this well against good teams.

28. Chicago BEARS (27) – The BEAR D is having a harder time today and have had great trouble making stops when needed. Thankfully Hoyer and Howard are getting it done and they have the Bears only 3 down at the half. We will see if the BEARS D can play a little in the 2nd half. The Bears O was superb in the second half and Hoyer did everything he could to give Chicago a shot to win. The BEARS D just stunk in the second half and cost them the game. A bad loss.

29. Miami Dolphins (22) – The Dolphins are just flat out terrible. The only reason they are remotely in the game at the half is a special teams TD. Tannehilll is terrible and the D is just deplorable. They are a basket of deplorables. If they can find any rhythm…They couldn’t. The Dolphins went quickly and quietly. Their last gasp ended with a Tannehill pick. A rotten team and vying for worst in the NFL.

30. San Francisco 49ers (30) – The more I watch Blaine Gabbert, the more he looks like Blaine Gabbert. I had the ‘rare’ opportunity to concentrate on his ability as a QB on Thursday night and have come to the conclusion that he is who I thought he was. He has never been a solid NFL QB – he wasn’t in Jacksonville and he isn’t in San Fran. The Niners didn’t play well but 3 golden turnovers were the difference. They lost by 12 and gave up 17 points off turnovers. Ugly. A team with little talent and a ton of issues and it won’t get prettier as it goes on.

31. San Diego Chargers (31) – If it wasn’t for bad Bolt luck they wouldn’t’ have any luck at all. The Chargers got off to a good start and even had a lead on and off through the day. The Chargers did turn the ball over 4 times and those cost them the points that would be more than the difference. In fact, they lost finally because their snapper dropped a snap and they were beaten. What an ugly loss but this team is almost as cursed as Cleveland.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – The Browns don’t have to worry about losing a game after being competitive. They were not even in this game when they sat in the locker room. This will not be a pretty 2nd half and with Kessler hurt it just got uglier. It ended pretty ugly. A game played in an impossible situation and when Kessler went down it all went down. Another Brown loss.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

NFL Power Rankings

1. Denver Broncos (1) – Continuing to play solid D and despite some really inaccurate and poor throws by Siemian they are battling well. The Bronco O went off and scored with some great passing late and the D turned it on and put this one on ice. The Broncos continue to roll and now one wonders if they can be beaten. A super win.

2. New England Patriots (2) – The Pats had everything against them and no chance to win. So what happened? Darth Vader flipped the script and his O was great, his D amazing and they blew out Houston and won. They are nearly impossible to beat at home and it makes no logical sense. Good if hard to understand win.

3. Minnesota Vikings (4) – Had a slow start on O and D and only a safety to show they were even here until a punt return TD. The Vikes need to get the O going and they could yet win this game! The Vikings used special teams and D scoring and superb D play to put away the Panthers. A fantastic road win over a powerhouse and that makes them a powerhouse.

4. Philadelphia Eagles (18) – Wentz has done it now. He has torn apart what had been an upcoming D and the Eagle D is playing really hard. The tackling is sharp and the coverage is tight. Wentz is a revelation and he is the real deal and the Eagles are now a top 10 team. Superb win!

5. Baltimore Ravens (10) – Raven D still looks stout and Flacco is doing just enough to get the points needed to combine with that D play to keep them in control. The Ravens struggled on O and just managed to play enough D to keep it close and then they got a clutch late FG (imagine how that feels Minnesota???) and they won it. A pretty poor team that is 3-0 and are this season’s Atlanta as they are no way this good and have a hard fall coming.

6. Green Bay Packers (8) – I don’t care if Aaron Rodgers throws for 12 TDs in this game, he and the offense are still not what they are supposed to be. The D is playing well against a bad Lions team and they have a nice lead. The Packers put it away but their bad D made it awfully close. A win but they are not that good.

7. Kansas City Chiefs (14) – The Chiefs have played super D and their ability to get the ball from the Jets is the difference maker here. The Chief O has been very productive and Alex Smith is really pitching a nice ball today too. A great effort by the Chiefs and they now have asserted themselves as the next best thing in the AFC West after Denver. A good, solid win.

8. Seattle Seahawks (15) – The Seahawks roared out of the blocks and had this game over before San Fran could even put their cleats on. The D has been dominant *best game so far* and the O has been very productive. The only negative is the injury to Russell Wilson and that will in the end determine how much of a win this blow out win is. A solid win.

9. Dallas Cowboys (16) – The Cowboys were able to run a full contact practice on national tv and it went well. They just ran up and down the BEARS and it was much more of blow out than the final score showed. Be that as it may, this in no way means the Cowboys are very good. Let’s see them win against a tough team.

10. Carolina Panthers (7) – The Panthers are playing solid D but not getting much O and are in a battle after a special teams error. This could be one that goes down to the wire. The Panther O just had no shot against the fiercest D this side of Denver. The Panthers just couldn’t score and down they went to a better team.

11. Arizona Cardinals (5) – The Cards O is doing so little it’s like a whisper while the D is playing like crap. WHAT THE F****?????? Well turnovers are GOLD and Carson Palmer has the Midas touch. They had good pass D but couldn’t’ stop the run and they let in so many rushing TDs that it was impossible to come back. The special teams mistakes helped put them down. An allegedly talented team that got thumped by a way less talented team. Sad and confounding and a bad loss.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers (6) – What in the ever loving hell happened to the Steelers? The lack of effort on O and the porous D has the Steelers utterly buried and now they just have to hold their nose until the final gun sounds. The worst game a Steeler team with Ben and Tomlin have played in years and they should be ashamed. An ugly UGLY loss.

13. Oakland Raiders (13) – The Raiders are struggling with O and D and seem to be unable to make it work on either side of the ball. This game could be one where the last team to make a basic drive wins. Late surge against sleepy D and suddenly the Raiders are in control. The Raiders battled and battled and bent on D and very nearly broke but held on for a close win. Don’t plan any Super Bowl parades as this win may mask that this team still has issues.

14. Cincinnati Bengals (9) – The Bengals still seem to be bungling the ball and the play and are in a tough fight with the Broncos. Their D is not able to slam teams down like last year yet and we are 2.5 games into the season. The Bengals had more trouble stopping the Bronco O and before it was even near the end they were so far down this was done. The Bengals are the Bungles and they are stumbling down to Cleveland levels.

15. Houston Texans (3) – The Texans might as well as not even have gotten off the bus. It didn’t appear they did. The O was shut down, the D was battered on the ground and in the end this was a first class butt kicking. Houston needs to find itself and one day they need to beat New England in New England. Ugly loss.

16. New York Giants (11) – Absolutely kicking the crap out of a pitiful Skins D and this could be a 50 burger if it rolls like this into the 2nd half. The G-men battled all through the second half and kept taking and losing the lead and when it was on the line, another turnover (which is gold) cost them the game. A bad loss and their vaunted D didn’t look very vaunted today.

17. Washington Redskins (21) – The D is being shredded. The one shot that had at a pick was dropped by the self-proclaimed best corner. If they can’t play D it doesn’t matter if they play O. Cousins turned it on and got the Skins back in the game. They battled all 4th quarter and when they had a shot they took the last lead and their D sealed the deal. A great win that they may build on.

18. Miami Dolphins (20) – Inconsistent play with some good O and then bad golden turnovers has the Dolphins in a fight with a Brown team that has plenty of issues and a rookie QB. The Dolphins got themselves a double digit late lead and then gave it away and went to OT and managed to hang on and win what was a pretty badly played game all around. It was a win.

19. Atlanta Falcons (29) – The Falcons had a gas as they played against a D that couldn’t tackle or cover and guessed so wrong they let running backs jog into the end zone. It was a blowout. It would have been bigger but the Falcons D does suck and that made it just a hair closer. A win but come on, anyone could gather 11 people and beat the Saints D.

20. New York Jets (12) – The Jets live by the Fitz and die by the Fitz. The 4 turnovers by early in the 2nd half are pure gold *as always* and you combine that with D having issues and this game is actually more of a blowout than the score shows. A bad loss and now the Jets start playing a bunch of tough games so this could be very ugly soon.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (17) – The Bucs were able to go toe to toe with the Rams for 3 quarters. Solid if not great O and ok if not amazing D and they traded score for score. Then the rule – turnovers are gold – took over the game and the almost back to back turnovers have turned this game and only a miracle can save the Bucs from a tough loss at home to a team they should have schooled. The Bucs are close but have been lightninged to a long delay and with 2 minutes left can they somehow come back? The Bucs drove the field and in the end went splat and lost. Oh well.

22. Buffalo Bills (30) – The Bills will claim gassing their OC has bred this but I think it’s just being done with mirrors. Out to a huge early lead. Can they hold it? They Bills held, put more on via special teams and D and running the ball. A super relatively easy win for a Bills team that now needs to find some secret mojo if they want to beat Darth Vader next week. A great win.

23. Los Angeles Rams (26) – The Rams have been amazing on the road today. Right from the start the O was able to match everything thrown at it and the D has been able to just keep them in the fight until 45 minutes were up. A solid couple of golden turnovers now has the Rams in position to steal a win. Can they hold on and win it? They have a small lead and a long weather delay but can they come back from an hour plus wait and win the last 2 minutes? They did it. They held on but couldn’t have done it if Tampa had either used the clock better or threw one in the end. A win but an odd win.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars (23) – The Jags are not able to get much if any O early but may have a tiny something going late. A pretty weak first 27 minutes for this team. The Jags didn’t give up and started using their young D and even took a late lead. Sadly, they just missed by that much AGAIN. Being really close and 0-3 is a bad combo and this team is sinking fast.

25. Indianapolis Colts (31) – The Colts had a slow start on O but Luck turned it on and have allowed Indy to play with a very game Bolt team. Can Indy’s D make enough stops to give Andrew a shot at winning this? Well the game came down to two plays. A huge bomb to TY Hilton and boom the Colts have a lead and then one heck of a golden turnover and boom the Colts have a win. Ok they are 1 and 2 but no they are not a challenge for the AFC South unless Houston loses both to them and perhaps even then I wouldn’t buy it. It was a win.

26. Detroit Lions (22) – Leave it to Detroit to play badly, turn the ball over in a golden fashion and generally play stupidly and give Green Bay the sense they are still a good team. Same old Sorry Ass Lions down by a ton before the half. The Lions Bad D and poor play gave them another loss. They defeat themselves as much as anyone beats them.

27. Tennessee Titans (25) – The Titans are not able to do much on O or D and are just stumbling through a pretty tame first half. They made it worse by taking the last 2 minutes off and now the Titans are in a hole. The Titans are interesting as they go as far as their interest level and Mariota can take them. He either drives them to a win, like last week, or he makes terrible decisions and they lose like this week. A team that needs a ton of help. An ugly loss.

28. San Francisco 49ers (27) – Whatever minor success they had week 1 is gone and off down the street. The Niners have no D and no O and Gabbert is doing his best to get Kaepernick another shot at starting in the NFL. An abysmal effort and they are well and holy blown out no matter what the final score is. A bad loss.

29. San Diego Chargers (28) – The Chargers D played good and not and good and not while Rivers struggled to get production. Will wins out and San Diego started to put up points and has them in a very close one. It may be last team scores wins here. The Colts D let in a huge pass completion that cost them the lead late. Then with one drive for them to make magic they turned it over and that was golden. A hard loss for a team that gives all they have with an injury stripped roster.

30. New Orleans Saints (19) – Pitiful, awful, rotten…no not describing a certain Republican candidate here, I am talking about the Saint D or lack thereof. They couldn’t keep up with Atlanta scoring as Brees has some issues but my goodness this is the worst D in the league. The BEARS have an excuse with their injuries…what is the deal here? These bums are healthy. A rotten team whose D is sinking them faster than New Orleans after a big rain.

31. Chicago BEARS (24) – The Chicago BEARS were a team with a chance at 9-7 before it started and 8 of their 11 D starters got hurt. The only injury that helps is Cutler and that sonuvabitka is trying to get back fast. This team, with no center, no feature RB now, no D is not surprisingly getting pummeled wherever they go. A lost year. Here’s hoping they get first pick and land a QB. Oh yeah, they got blasted by Dallas but Hoyer didn’t suck so yay?

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Not getting much from rookie Kessler but they got 7 from the D and they need other forms of production to keep in this game. The Browns battled back and had a shot 20 secs left to steal a win and of course in Browns fashion, missed the field goal. They then lost in OT. What a dark cloud over this once long ago proud franchise. Sad.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

Mr. N’s Week 2 Power Poll #NFL #NFLRankings #football

NFL Power Rankings

1. Denver Broncos (1) – The Broncos have been uninspiring at offense but the D has kept them in it and a late pick 6 *pure gold* has then nicely out in front with not much left to play. They just need to hold on to be 2-0. The Bronco D just put the game on ice with another defensive TD. A great D with a mediocre offense and that is enough for them to be undefeated so far. I guess I have to see them lose before they fall in the poll.

2. New England Patriots (3) – Pats tearing up the Fish early and this could be over by the half. Blowing Miami out in handy fashion but the injury to Garoppolo could be significant in the next 2 weeks. They may yet be in trouble unless Belicheck is even smarter than I think he is. The Pats turned to the ground and ran and ran and held on to just sneak out the win. If Jimmy G is out on Thursday then they are in serious doo doo against Houston.

3. Houston Texans (6) – Good first drive killed by a Red zone turnover which is solid gold. The Texans are struggling to get a lot of points and the D isn’t what it is supposed to be so far. They don’t have this in the bag yet. The Texans D controlled the game from that point on and Brock O did just enough to get the Texans a good win. The Texans are doing their part to be in the hunt in a competitive AFC South.

4. Minnesota Vikings (10) – A fantastic game played by the Vikes. Solid D just set the tone from the first quarter on. Sam Bradford didn’t blow the doors off but he was excellent for just 6 days practice. He made long throws, stretched the field, kept the ball moving and even threw 2 tds. The loss of AP doesn’t actually hurt the Vikes at all. He has been largely ineffective when he played and anyone can get 30 yards be it McKinnon or Asiata. The Vikes are going to be fine with that D and Bradford and that D. What a super win by the best team in the division by far.

5. Arizona Cardinals (7) – In control from the start with superb offense and excellent defense. Palmer has shredded for TDs. He did make mistakes but got away with them, which was lucky. Excellent D has destroyed Tampa and this is, was and will be a laugher. A great, easy win for Arizona.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers (9) – Weather having an impact, a tight battle to start and the Steelers take an early lead. The Steelers D is impressive. Their young CB Burns really stepped up to beat AJ Green to a TD. A pretty good half but they need more O. The Steelers used a great run game and overcame some weather aided turnovers to pull out a gutsy division win. A hard fought one that puts them in the early driver seat in the AFC North.

7. Carolina Panthers (8) – Caaaam can’t throw picks and expect good results. The Panthers seem to be dominating the game in all but a wide score. If the game proceeds like this then I would expect Carolina to put this away. The Panthers pulled away and put this game away. It was sloppy with turnovers galore but they got an ugly win to start the turn around on a w.

8. Green Bay Packers (2) – The Packers tried to come out and play typical Packer ball and Aaron Rodgers found he ran into a purple wall. Stopped time and again early the Pack could barely manage to get anything going. Only when a bad penalty gave them field position did they finally break through. As the game wore on Rodgers had no answer for the Vikes D and he was sacked, pummelled and picked. The Packers were outmuscled and overwhelmed by the best team in the NFC North…the Vikings.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (4) – Struggling to get offense working early. The Bengal D is showing its stuff and that is keeping this close as their O is just not getting it done early. Cincy fell too far behind to be able to fight all the way back. They got within 1.5 possessions but couldn’t finish and one has to wonder about the veracity of the Bengal D after the first two games.

10. Baltimore Ravens (14) – Getting slammed by the Browns early. Are Baltimore really as bad as I thought they were in the preseason? Well here comes the Ravens. They have stormed back and are now battling and I will not be surprised if they win this one in the 2nd half. The Ravens put this game away in the 2nd half and are a pretty surprising 2-0 but again I have some real doubts about how good this team is.

11. New York Giants (20) – The G-men shut out early by a bad D, makes one scratch one’s head. I am dumbfounded how this game is a low scoring thing. How are the Giants not taking apart this bad D? What will the 2nd half bring? The Giants had to fight tooth and nail to just be in the spot to pull out a late win. They are a pretty lucky 2-0 and although they are leading the East they are not really classy and I need to see the O work after stumbling against a BAD Saint D.

12. New York Jets (16) – The Jets showed a lot last night and the only impressive parts were the W, Forte’s performance and Brandon Marshall getting up off the deck. Revis is done, Fitzpatrick is the only QB who can be held to one TD and it be said he was Namath-esque (I credit ESPN.com for that stupidity). The Jets won the start 20-7, lost 3 minutes 17-0 and then won the last 27 minutes 17-7. They can proudly say the won week 2. If they win one of their next 4 I will be surprised. They are not a good team.

13. Oakland Raiders (5) – The Raiders have had trouble stopping the Falcons. The O struggled to get going early but have come on late and are now in a see saw battle. Will take a lot of guts to pull out this one if they can. The Raiders just didn’t have it this time. The D just couldn’t get it done and in the end they let in more than Oakland could score. A bad loss for a team that now is back looking up at the Broncos. Will the Raiders take the next step or is this just another year?

14. Kansas City Chiefs (12) – The Chiefs are giving it although playing really shorthanded today. The Chiefs are having trouble getting points but the D is bending but not breaking They could yet win this game if they have another 2nd half rally in them. The Chiefs didn’t rally, they didn’t have the O today and they went down to a Texan team that just out muscled them. A loss.

15. Seattle Seahawks (11) – I cannot believe how bad the Seahawk offense is. They have been stifled by the sad sack Rams. Their vaunted D has been unable to hold down LA and they have not gotten TDs but they get FG after FG and since they can’t score any points it doesn’t matter. I can’t believe how bad the Seahawks look. They are not a good offensive team and I don’t know if they are very good at all now.

16. Dallas Cowboys (27) – Elliott first TD gives the Cowboys an early lead. Not a great game by far but very mechanical and just getting enough done on O and D to be relatively in control at the half. This was an ugly game for Dallas. This late come from behind win is nice and all but it doesn’t make them all that. They have issues on D and on their alleged good O line and Elliot is this generation’s Tiki Barber for ball handling. Ok you won. You aren’t playoff bound yet.

17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (15) – Well I guess Tampa can’t travel very well either. Their young and getting better D has been schooled by a tough team in the NFC. Winston didn’t have an answer and they have been pummeled. An ugly loss to hopefully just forget about.

18. Philadelphia Eagles (25) – The Eagles came out very workman like and were held to FGs for the first half and then they got it going with some quietly decent Wentz play and some solid rush O. The Eagles D held down a bad Bears O and the Eagles O put up the points and this game was over by early in the 3rd quarter. Good win for not a great team.

19. New Orleans Saints (18) – The Saints shut out early by the G-men. Hmmm. The Saints are not getting any O from Brees but their D is really playing above their heads and they are trailing. Game still potentially theirs if they can score some. The Saints played D way over their head but had trouble scoring and in the end they lost the game by missing a cover on a long pass. A tough loss but 0-2 for a team with this many issues isn’t where you want to be.

20. Miami Dolphins (19) – The Dolphin D has no answer to Tom Brady…or Jimmy G or anyone in a Pat uniform. The Dolphins have been battered and beaten and this is probably over but the somewhat cheap shot on the Pat QB may have the Pats in longer term trouble. The Dolphins got a lot of points in what could be called garbage 2nd half possessions and they brought it close but lost. The game was not actually as close as the score and Miami is not very good.

21. Washington Redskins (17) – Cousins still looking troubled with inconsistencies and not getting any offense early. The Skins finally got on the board but unless their D really picks it up, especially against the run, they could be in for a long afternoon. Cousins and the Skins brought it hard in the 2nd half and gave as good as they took and for a while they almost had this in hand but they let in the last score and down they went. They are now not the class in this division and probably will finish 3rd.

22. Detroit Lions (21) – Stafford is making the O work but not getting points but the D is playing well. The Lions are back in their self-defeating ways. The Titans try to give Detroit the game and Detroit penaltied themselves out of it. They need to be more disciplined in the 2nd half. Well how did that happen? The Lions were stopped by the Titans much too much in the 4th quarter and in the end their D didn’t get it done and they lost. This is a hard loss and makes one question the viability of this team now.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (13) – The hopes of the Jags appear to be a year early, even by me. Good young teams need to learn how to travel and play well and Jacksonville hasn’t taken that course yet. Turnovers have been pure gold and that and penalties and missteps and they are on the receiving end of a blowout. They are not the Texans and I think Houston can breathe easier now. An ugly loss.

24. Chicago BEARS (22) – The Bears were all set for this game and then it started and it all fell apart. Cutler couldn’t lead a hungry dog to a steak dinner. He played poorly and then poorly and then he got a little hurt and he threw a pick *or he threw a pick and said he was hurt* and however close the game was at 30 it was all over by 60. The Bears D had a good front 7 *now 2 of those guys hurt* and no secondary and those bums are healthy. It was an ugly prime time loss and the BEARS I hope are shooting for the first pick and they can get DeShaun Watson to play QB.

25. Tennessee Titans (28) – The Titans are having trouble on both sides of the ball early. The Titans are really struggling on Offense and would be well out of this game if Detroit didn’t let them off the hook over and over again. What a gutsy and surprising win for Tennessee! I don’t think I can remember when the Titans fought back, took lead and then held on. They pretty much played 60 and won. Hunh. Let’s see them win another.

26. Los Angeles Rams (29) – Well the Rams can’t do much on O but the little they could do was enough. Who would think 3 field goals would be enough to win a game? The D has so little talent it is beyond amazing that they have shut down Seattle. A great win for the city of Los Angeles but this team is NOT great.

27. San Francisco 49ers (26) – Unable to get 7 on a red zone turnover but still trying hard this week. The Niners do not seem to be all that this week and are having problems with getting much out of their O unless they have a very advantageous field position. The Niners got beat down but battled back to make it closer. Turnovers destroy a team that is less talented and lost a game they didn’t have any business being in in the first place.

28. San Diego Chargers (30) – The Chargers exploded out of the gate and took over the game with solid O and D. Unlike week 1, they never took the foot off the gas and just have kept pouring it on. For a team without a lot of talent this is an impressive win and maybe this terrible group can build on this one.

29. Atlanta Falcons (31) – The Falcons have brought a solid offense give or take a bad Matty Melt pick and their D bends and breaks and bends again. Late in the game they have a small lead and the question is can they hold it for a road victory? The Falcons got their victory with their D not being much but Matty melting Ice got it done and put the game away. A good road win for a not very good team.

30. Buffalo Bills (23) – What can I say about the Bills? They had trouble establishing the run. Tyrod Taylor looked great with his throwing and running. The D seems decimated by injury and suspension. Stephan Gilmore was torched over and over. The D has huge issues and this 0-2 start will lead inevitably to an 0-4. Good news is they should be 2-4 by week 6 which will be 1 game better than the Jets expected 1-5 so yay Buffalo??? A bad loss.

31. Indianapolis Colts (24) – The Colts have been having great trouble getting points against the Broncos but Luck worked every trick he had. With pure verve and gusto, he managed to get the game tied. Unfortunately, he learned what everyone already knows…turnovers are gold and his pick 6 may have sealed the game. Does Luck have one more comeback in him? Nope Luck had a fumble that turned into a Denver TD so that didn’t help a comeback. A bad offensive day for a team that needs to get all the O it can to have any shot. A bad 0-2 team.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Beyond amazing start for Cleveland, McCown is playing great. Then he got dinged up and the Browns have stalled and now are fighting to somehow keep ahead in a game they were leading by 18 early. The poor Browns had this game and lost the lead and couldn’t score again. What a terrible loss that will just rip the guts out of the Browns fan base.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!
