Mr. N’s NFC West Preview 2016 #NFL #NFLTrainingCamp #NFLThoughts

nfc west

This is the shot for Arizona. * Bruce Arians health issues could derail this *

Arizona Cardinals – They are built for a run. They seem to have everyone healthy and have reasonable depth (everywhere but QB). The schedule is favorable and if any team is going to do it…

If all goes well then 14-2 is likely
If it is as it should be then 13-3 division champs and Homefield throughout
If Carson Palmer gets hurt then 11-5 is likely

I believe 13-3 and in control in the NFC

Seattle Seahawks – Perennially a contender they will be again. With Coach and QB they indeed are the Pats West. Questions abound on the O line and at the efficacy of the running backs.

If all goes well then 11-5 is likely
If all is at it should be then 10-6 is it
If the O line collapses then 8-8 is the end result.

I think 10-6 in wild card hunt.

Los Angeles Rams – good news for LA is football is back and this team isn’t San Francisco, however…

A team beset with questions and growth issues could have a long year

if all goes well then 7-9 is likely
If all is as it should be then 6-10
If it’s a mess then 3-13 and Fisher may be gone

I think 6-10 as Goff takes over about week 5.

San Francisco 49ers – they used to be the cream of the crop in the NFL. Those days are long gone. A team with a gimmicky O and a D with only 1 talented player. The whole NFL knows how to beat Chip Kelly’s O and that O will just exhaust a bad D. Not a good combo.

If all goes well then 2-14 is the high water mark
If all is as it should be then 1-15 will be it
This team could go 0-16

I think they win 1 and it’s another ugly year in the Bay

Seattle Seahawks  – We all saw the play that ended the Super Bowl and it may be the worst call ever in that stage of the big game.  That is in the past.  The Super Bowl loser hangover probably can be ignored when considering this team.  The Hawks didn’t sit still.  They re-signed Russell Wilson, one of the best QBs in the NFL, they traded for TE/WR Jimmy Graham and that will open holes for Beastmode.  The addition of little Tyler Lockett will energize kick returns and add speed to the outside.  The O line is solid (they traded their Center since his replacement last year was super when Unger was hurt) and does the job.  The D…is the best D in the NFL.  A solid front 4, a great corps of LB and the best secondary probably ever in the history of the NFL.  Right now Cam Chancellor is holding out because he’s upset he willingly signed a contract.  He will be back for the opening game.  The schedule is fine for this team.  Here is the deal…during the year there will be injuries and they will drop a game then.  They will lose a game at home they shouldn’t and they will drop another along the way.  I see them 13-3, they are number one seed, and they will represent the NFC in Super Bowl 50.

Arizona Cardinals – The Cardinals were 11-5 and went as far as they could with baling wire and clothespins holding their offense together last year.  This year they start with a healthy Carson Palmer and an improved line with additions from the draft and free agency.  The WR are still a solid group and the improved line could impact the running game in a good way.  The D is amazing.  They need to develop a bit more consistent pass rush but they are solid against the run and have a dynamite secondary that is arguably the best in the league.  The special teams are decent too but could use a bit more excitement on kick returns.  The schedule is solid and this team is built for success.  If the O and D are on then 13-3 is not out of the question.  If they are hit by injuries on O again then 10-6 could be their downfall.  I think 12-4 is the record, that may not win the division but should get them a wild card again.

St. Louis Rams – The Rams come off a year of great D and woeful O.  They decided that showing Sammy the door would not be a Foles move…:) The addition of Nick Foles at QB, Todd Gurley at RB and additions to the O line could have this team score just enough to allow for their incredible D to win a lot of games.  There may not be a better front 7 in the NFL then this gang and their safeties aren’t bad either.  The Corners could use improvement but with such a front 9 the back 2 aren’t critical.  Brilliant special teams help too.  The schedule isn’t bad.  If the Rams O clicks under Foles then this team could surprise everyone and win 12.  If the O struggles then another 8-8 (and the end of Fisher in STL) could happen.  I think they will be exceptional and be 11-5 and in the battle for NFC wild card.

San Francisco 49ers – Some teams go through changes and some teams go through CHANGES. The Niners are not recognizable now.  They have a new coach, a new D co-ordinator (who is a great offensive mind if that makes sense) and a new O co-ordinator.  They have lost their vet RB, key aspects to an Oline that has been fading already and more people out of what was once a good D that they may not be able to stop a leaf blowing across a field.  They have a QB who was so desperate to fix his game he went and ‘retooled’ himself.  The WR are two aged former Ravens and their TE was the invisible man last year.  They won’t be able to stop the run or the pass for that matter.  It is a tough schedule and if everything goes well they could be 3-13.  I think they get lucky once and finish 1-15 but they could also be equally capable of matching Detroit as the 2nd 0-16 ever.  A horrible team.

There you have it, as always I love any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements!

MR N’s #NFL NFC West Preview‏

nfc west

NFL Preview 2014
Division: NFC West
Team: Seattle Seahawks
Coach: Pete Carroll
QB: Russell Wilson

Offensive outlook: The effectiveness of this O stems from the strength of the line and the mobility and ingenuity of their QB…Harvin healthy could be a ‘game changer’ for this team and Lynch is beastmode but he has had a lot of carries so at any time could suddenly disappear. They will score enough with their D.

Defensive outlook: Despite losing a few players due to the inevitable free agency the Legion of Boom is largely intact. The new ‘rules’ about illegal contact (the Seattle rule) will not hurt the Seahawks if indeed they are allowed to bump in the first 5 yards. The Hawks are the only team that successfully plays press coverage. They will shut down nearly everyone they face.

Schedule projection: If they simply roll with O and D they could be 16-0. People will be gunning for them and things happen so I think 13-3 is reasonable.

Division: NFC West
Team: San Franciso 49ers
Coach: Jim Harbaugh
QB: Colin Kaepernick

Offensive outlook: The 9ers are built to score points with depth at RB, a good group of receivers and a young talented QB. I believe this unit will be fine as the season goes on.

Defensive outlook: Unfortunately this team strength seems to be tied to Navarro Bowman and he’s gone at least the first 8 weeks. This unit looks like a shell of what it was and can’t seem to do anything and this is going to impact their ability to be successful this year.

Schedule projection: This team isn’t going to be what they were with the defensive issues but they have a push schedule and I think 10-6 is reasonable, they may win 11.

Division: NFC West
Team: Arizona Cardinals
Coach: Bruce Arians
QB: Carson Palmer

Offensive outlook: Carson isn’t getting younger and I think they still need depth at receiver and consistency at RB but their Line is greatly improved and that will make this unit much more effective.

Defensive outlook: Losing Darnell Dockett hurts. Adding Cromartie at DB helps. This team’s D is going to be a force. The secondary is going to rival the LOB. A powerful D.

Schedule projection: The schedule is tougher later so this team needs to roll in the early section. I think they could shock the world, win 11 and take the card. I am standing on that.

Division: NFC West
Team: St. Louis Rams
Coach: Jeff Fisher
QB: Sam Bradford

Offensive outlook: They haven’t fully decided if Bradford is the answer. He is only healthy about 50% of the time. They need him healthy, he needs receivers to catch the ball and the O line has to stand up for him and the running game. They could score lots but I somehow doubt they will.

Defensive outlook: A superb front 7, possibly the best in the league next to the Panthers. The secondary could be better. A tough D that can win a game or two itself.

Schedule projection: If things go great for them then 9-7 is possible. I believe this tough sked will give them 8-8 if they do well against bad teams.

AFC West projected:

Seattle Seahawks: 13-3
Arizona Cardinals: 11-5
San Francisco 49s: 10-6
St. Louis Rams : 8-8

Talking #NFL QB Movement‏

This week the thoughts turn back to what the NFL revolves around…who is under center. There is a lot of talk about which QB will be drafted by who…at the same time there are a lot of QBs moving about and have already moved.

Let’s start:

– Michael Vick to NYJ – well he might have been a game changer for the Jets 5 years ago. Now you have to wonder if he can stay healthy enough to start 3 games. Further you have to wonder if the signing of him is going to ruin any slim chance Geno Smith has at NFL success. If they start Smith and he struggles for one series, the fans will be screaming for Vick. If (and when) NY benches Smith for Vick that might be the move that destroys Smith’s fragile psyche forever.

– Mark (Buttfumble) Sanchise is available. The BEARS may sign him. If they do that will not help in the creation of a safety net behind Cutler. Chicago QB backup right now looks like it will be Jordan Palmer and Mark Sanchez – wow, BEARS Fans will have to hope Cutler starts all 16.

– SF got Blaine Gabbert. He probably at this point has a 1 in 10 shot at a decent NFL career as a backup and a 9 in 10 shot at being one of the biggest washouts this side of Ryan Leaf.

– Houston got Ryan Fitzpatrick. That is a smart move and now have a talented and mature vet who can help a young drafted QB grow and keep the franchise afloat as they move forward.

– Dallas got Brandon Weeden and now they won’t have to hold their breath WHEN Romo gets hurt.

– Schaub to Oak – personally I really liked the 2 QBs they had – Pryor and McGloin – more than I do Schaub. It is possible that Schaub wants to prove he isn’t Mr. pick six but I don’t know how much I would put on that possibility occuring

That is just some of my thoughts on the NFL’s fave position.  What are yours?  I’d love to hear from you.

MR N’s #NFL Conference Championship Weekend Power Poll‏

NFL Power Rankings

1. Seattle Seahawks (1) – The D came out relatively flat and had trouble stopping the QB run. Missed tackles and an early Golden turnover put them in a hole and quieted their crowd. They battled back, the O got it going, the D started to make itself felt and in the end they pulled out a tight victory. Now the best D in the land will have to stop the best O in the land for the SuperBowl.

2. Denver Broncos (3) – The Broncos were held down for 1 series, about 12 minutes then rolled on offense to a surprisingly easy victory. Their D was fairly stout at times and even got key sacks. They seem as ready as they can be to take on the NFC in the SuperBowl. Well done.

3. San Francisco 49ers (2) – Came out with a great game plan and used it to effectively dominate the first half. The great play by their QB was stunted by multiple picks that he threw that cost them the game. There was a horrible incident where a member of the SF team, on the sideline, clotheslined Sea Special Teamer Jeremy Lane during a play. I am hopeful but not certain that the NFL Will hit SF with a massive fine. That sort of classless behavior cannot be allowed in the NFL.

4. New England Patriots (4) – The Pats got spanked and that is a super surprise. The biggest surprise was that you can lay the blame fully at the feet of Tom Brady. He over-through his open receivers so many times that it literally cost the NE Pat offense a chance to be competitive in this game. Never saw that coming and getting one year older isn’t going to make New England better next year.

There you have it! As always I love to see every thought, comment, argument or agreement! I will also accept cash, preferably tens and twenties!

5. Carolina Panthers (2) – Played their heart out in the first half, outnumbered by facing the 49ers and the Referees too. It is virtually a capital crime to have an incredible battle between two amazing teams ruined by horrible refs. Whatever chance this team had in this game was ended early by horribly biased bad ref calls and it is no surprise that a young team couldn’t come back from it. They will dominate next year and I can’t wait to see Carolina play SF next year and pound them pillar to post.

6. Indianapolis Colts (6) – I told Indy that they couldn’t do this again and let a team take a lead on them in a game like this. Now they have a hole to dig out of and Andrew, turnovers are GOLD. This year the Colts went one game further. They got schooled by failing to play a full 60 again. I think with some D improvements and another year of experience for Andy Luck I think they could be AFC Championship game bound next year.

7. San Diego Chargers (7) – The D did a fair job of holding Denver to only 14 in the first half. The Offensive line was horrendous letting a not great Denver pass rush Sack Rivers 3 times and totally destroy any SD passing game. They must keep holding Denver down and mount some sort of pass game or this is over now. The D played well enough to give them a shot but it was the inability of the O line to block in the first quarter that sealed it. A good effort and we will see if they can build on it next year.

8. New Orleans Saints (8) – Troubled by the rain more than wind, chippy cheapshot D makes them look bad and being shutout in the first half really defined the Road Worriers. Brees was able to use terrible referee calls and cheap shot utilizing D to get within one score but in the end the Aint D was the walking crap hole it always is and their alleged big shot Dback Keenan Lewis couldn’t even push #BeastMode out of bounds. Go slink into the offseason and figure out how to pay bigger bounties next year.

9. Green Bay Packers (9) – Terrible start on O and the D was bad between the 10’s but stout in the goal line area for the most part. They are staying in the game and if within 7 in the 4th Q they will have a shot. Green Bay gave their all and battled and battle til the very end but just couldn’t make the stops. A team who’s D was an issue all year lost because their D couldn’t make a stop. Ding Dong the Pack is dead which is happiness for a BEARS Fan.

10. Philadelphia Eagles (10) – The Eagles are shooting themselves in the foot and are keeping a dangerous Saints team in the game and that may come back to haunt them yet. Let the haunting begin. They didn’t play good enough on offense to allow for their D to play as bad as it did and win the game. Close doesn’t count and they need to get a lot better on D or they will be lucky just to be one and done in the playoffs next year (everyone else in their division is awful so they can win it).

11. Kansas City Chiefs (11) – Blew Indy away in the first half without any real dominance. They lost their best offensive weapon almost from the start and then they simply ran their offense. Not being tackled has been their secret weapon. The Chiefs gave all they had and their offense couldn’t do anymore. The D was actually shredded but to be fair it was shredded by injury first. A good effort but fell one point short.

12. Cincinnati Bengals (12) – Solid rush attack, some but not many good throws by Dalton and on and off D got them a slim lead at the half. They need to toughen up their tackling and take the opening kick of the 2nd half for 7 and that would put them on the road to the Division round. They had a shot and blew it. The Bengal D couldn’t deal with the run and Andy Dalton proved once more that turnovers are GOLD. The fumble, the multiple picks…there was nothing that they could do to overcome the turnovers. If I was Cincy I might fire both the HC and the QB and start over fresh twice. This isn’t working and their window will close sooner than they think.

13. Arizona Cardinals (8) – D was flat early but the Off came together late to make it a game but in the end they are just a team that is THAT close to playoffs. They could win their division next year. They are that good.

14. Pittsburgh Steelers (14) – Gave their all, veterans know how to perform late in the year when it is on the line. They did all they could to give themselves a shot at the playoffs. Good try. They need to get younger on D in a big way and they need to draft a new QB, Big Ben is Big Old and Battered. Need more help on O too. Rebuild time.

15. Baltimore Ravens (13) – When it came down to it, Flacco proved that turnovers are gold and he can throw picks with the worst of them. An ugly end to a pretty ugly year. They need WR help, and to try to build on what they have on hand…close but not elite by a long shot.

16. Tennessee Titans (22) – A solid performance that will hopefully put and end to the spurious talk that Munchak should be fired…he didn’t hurt Locker and that was what killed this team’s year. All they need to do now is get their QB healthy, draft solidly, add one or two players and they will be wild card at least next season.

17. Dallas Cowboys (17) – How ’bout ‘Dem Cowboys? Couldn’t have happened to a nicer team in the NFC. So much fun to continue to watch Jerry Jones celebrate wildly during games he eventually loses. Smart owners celebrate after a win not after a first down. This team needs a QB, needs a RB who isn’t fragile or a fumbler, needs a WR who is a talent but not a mother beater. Their secondary is horrible. They are lucky Washington and NYG are in their division so they may yet finish 2nd again next year but out of the playoffs. Fire Garrett.

18. St. Louis Rams (15) – Shockingly undisciplined and mistake filled game. A good year of promise ends on a very sour note. They need to decide pretty quick if Bradford is their future or was he a flop. Do they give him zillions or draft a new one and kind of start fresh? They need help at WR too and another left tackle might help Bradford too.

19. Chicago BEARS (16) – Off did all it reasonably could to win the game but the D just isn’t good enough to be playoff capable. They face a ton of contract issues that could and likely will gut this team. They were good enough to be a serious playoff contender but the mass injuries destroyed their D. This may not even be a top 25 team with all the players they can’t re-sign.

20. New York Giants (24) – A sad sack Giant team that pulled out a win for the gipper and for their old coach. They must rebuild. They need a new QB to get ready behind a massively aged Eli and they need to inject talent to a horrible O line and need to add talent to the missing link of a secondary. Years away from playoffs.

21. Buffalo Bills (23) – In a veritable monsoon Buffalo tried but failed. They still need to build on their foundations and are likely 2 years away from contending but they are coming along.

22. Jacksonville Jaguars (18) – They were a team that seemed to have started their offseason before they played their last game. Never in the game. They did play .500 in the last 8 and have some talent but desperately need a franchise QB, need talent who doesn’t use drugs at WR and need lots of help on D. Years away. If they draft Manziel they will be in a media circus of crappy QB play until 2020.

23. Minnesota Vikings (28) – A gutsy last game won in their old dome. This team needs a ton of help. There are a ton of franchise-like QBs coming available and the Vikes need to draft one. They need to get WR help, they need D help, they need O line help. Oh and can your head coach would be what I would do first thing Monday am. (written Sunday night Dec 29)

24. Detroit Lions (20) – Stafford played poorly and the D quit. The self defeaters self defeated themselves again. This team needs to can their head Thug, cut some problem players, draft character, get younger on O and try again. A team that can’t win with who they have because talent with lack of discipline/maturity is no talent at all.

25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (19) – Were never able to make a stop in the first half and were so far behind they could never come back. The D was destroyed and the team needs to start fresh next year. They are talented enough to even surprise some people next year. ((that they fired their coach now may set back any hope this team has for rapid improvement especially if the new guy wants his own QB))

26. New York Jets (26) – A great game by Geno Smith for a change that saved Sexy Rexy’s job and let the season end on a positive. A team that needs to cut #Buttfumble ASAP and start to move forward.

27. Miami Dolphins (25) – FINALLY! This team of dysfunctional bully supporting, gang color wearing scumbags is put to rest. They have to cut management and players and work to bring some respect back to what used to be a classy organization. They should run Ireland out of town on a rail.

28. Atlanta Falcons (29) – I will give them credit for this, they have played great the last 2 weeks. It is a nice way to end a horribly disappointing season. They did everything but win. This is exemplary in how a team with a poor D that wins a lot will fare when facing a tougher schedule the next year. Atlanta needs to spend an offseason continuing to build a porous D and they need to get younger at WR and they need a new TE now and perhaps draft/sign a good backup QB…if Ryan gets hurt this team will go plop.

29. Cleveland Browns (27) – Never were in it, seemed like they were already starting their off season. The total team meltdown and anonymous bitch sessions post game are sad and that the organization is going to fire Chud who simply is guilty of being the face of botched organization decisions? An awful team can’t draft good players…that doesn’t happen and Cleveland is still YEARS away from contending.

30. Washington Redskins (30) – A monsoon ended any slim chance this bad team had of winning their last game. They need to gut the team and start again…not sure if anyone will be able to play on this team with Snyder treating RGIII better than the rest. Shanahan will be fired but who wants to coach there??? A team in super long term turmoil. Oh and this D is just horrid so draft D, draft D and then later DRAFT D.

31. Oakland Raiders (31) – Were blown away from the moment the game started. The D never tried and the O didn’t offer much either until it didn’t matter. This team has some talent. It needs to add more and become more disciplined. It would be a huge mistake to tear this team down. They are on the way up.

32. Houston Texans (32) – JJ Watt and pray for rain…that is the menu for the Texans. This team is loaded…with Crap. Schaub should get a small parade on the way out of town. They need help at QB, WR, RB, TE, LB and DBs…I don’t see playoffs for this team again for at least 2 seasons.

MR N’s #NFL Week 7 Power Poll‏

NFL Power Rankings

1. Kansas City Chiefs (2) – Played a kind of mistake filled under performing game but man that D is stellar.

2. Green Bay Packers (3) – Played another solid game despite being riddled with injuries on O and D. A great team effort.

3. Indianapolis Colts (8) – Played a solid game, took advantage of a creative defensive game plan and Andrew Luck showed how amazing a young QB he is to totally take over a game and win a game that was not as close as the final score. A brilliant win. They sit here because they have soundly beaten SEA, SF and DEN.

4. Seattle Seahawks (4) – The Hawks started slow on a short week but used the simple system of a hard run game and smothering D to get a nice road win and now they can get healthy on the mini-bye and that works well for a team with the week 12 bye.

5. San Francisco 49ers (5) – Kaepernick looked brilliant (finally…been a long time since he has!) and he led his team to a brilliant win.

6. New Orleans Saints (6) – On the bye…a team that seems to be capable of being a force in the NFC and battling for the right to shiver in NY in February. It will be all on them to do this…only they can stop themselves.

7. Denver Broncos (1) – Finally their D got exposed and it cost them a game. Champ Bailey does more harm playing for them then he does hurt. The secondary has holes and Peyton is still uncomfortable facing pressure. Now there is a gameplan to beat them.

8. Cincinnati Bengals (9) – Dalton to Green was a solid effort early. They were in a battle to the end and they pulled out a clutch win.

9. San Diego Chargers (10) – Steady early and it was an excellent road win with solid D and excellent running offense. The team is on a roll going into their bye.

10. New England Patriots (6) – Excellent team effort early. The Pats let the game get away from them and then a bad OT penalty ended their chance. Down they went.

11. Dallas Cowboys (13) – Sluggish start. Kind of went through the motions on Offense and used good D to win a game in the NFC Least.

12. Miami Dolphins (11) – Came out flat. They got their O working but their D was unable to make the key stops when they had to and an opportunity to come off their bye on the right note was lost.

13. Detroit Lions (12) – Stafford was just staring down his receiver so much early he is a pick six waiting to happen. They battled but the D couldn’t make the key stops and down they went again.

14. Buffalo Bills (19) – Excellent 1st half. Good D, efficient and gutsy running game. A key, late golden turnover gave them the late lead and a great Defensive stop gave them a nice win!

15. Carolina Panthers (23) – Terrific 1st Half production. Another great effort. That is 2 in a row. Well done.

16. Baltimore Ravens (15) – Were outplayed, out hustled and outdone by an older team who wanted it more. Harbaugh says they need to find a way to win these games…I say how about giving the ball to Ray Rice more than 15 stinking times in a key division game????

17. Washington Redskins (20) – RGIII on his game. The Skin D was shredded but RGIII drove his improving O to a great come from behind win.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers (24) – Played their best effort of the year with total heart and won a tough division game and it was a great win.

19. Chicago BEARS (14) – Cutler injury took away the excitement of early Special Team and D scoring. The BEARS O was as impressive as their injury riddled D was not.

20. New York Jets (27) – Geno Smith was more good than bad early. He did lead the Jets to an excellent come from behind win. A solid team win.

21. Tennessee Titans (16) – Bringing an 85% Locker back early didn’t actually help. They have the basis of a good team and they are going to get better. It may not be achievable to reach their potential this season now but look out in 2014 for the Titans.

22. Cleveland Browns (17) – Played alright but Weeden is his own worst enemy and he makes mistakes that just kill his team’s chances.

23. Atlanta Falcons (28) – Decent production from the Offense in the first half. The Falcons took a nice lead and then didn’t let their second half prevent defense prevent them from winning a game.

24. St. Louis Rams (20) – D battled on the road but the O was unable to overcome a stout Panther D.

25. Houston Texans (25) – Rookie Case Keenum was amazing in his NFL debut (Matt Schaub…the bus is now boarding and your seat on the one way out of town is waiting for you). Houston played a very good game on the road and only just lost.

26. Oakland Raiders (26) – on their bye. A team that has shown moments of offensive glory and rarer moments of good D. They are nearly ready to be competitive. Let’s see if the Silver and Black can build on this framework going forward.

27. Arizona Cardinals (18) – Gotta give them credit they managed to battle for 20 or 25 minutes but they just couldn’t match up for 60 against a demonstrably better team that overwhelmed them.

28. Philadelphia Eagles (21) – Foles looked bad and then got hurt. The Philly O was non existent while the D was just ok. A bad effort.

29. New York Giants (32) – Any other team would have beaten that team playing that way on Monday night. They won the game but NO they are not back and that is that.

30. Jacksonville Jaguars (31) – Got pushed around early. Another fair effort but it appears they left their all on the field against Denver. Their limited O just couldn’t keep up with the workman like Chargers.

31. Minnesota Vikings (29) – Defense did all it could do but there was no OFF at all. I don’t believe any D can force a 3 and out 45 straight times. The O has to at least get field goals. They have 6 days to not embarrass themselves at home hosting GB in prime time. Good luck.

32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (30) – Poor effort early. They brought it close late with good work by Glennon. He is looking like a real NFL QB and they seem to have made a good call to turn the franchise over to him now. The D? it sucks.

There you have it! As always I love every thought, comment, argument or agreement! I would also take cash…preferably tens and twenties!

MR N’s #NFL Week 6 Power Poll‏

NFL Power Rankings

1. Denver Broncos (1) – Played as good as they had to. Was close for a short time but they won going away.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (3) – Poor offense to start the game. Great D, good special teams and just enough offense…The KC recipe for undefeated success.

3. Green Bay Packers (5) – Defense good early. Rodgers just barely able to get it done. A tough team win.

4. Seattle Seahawks (6) – Had a tough game at home. They had to battle to win. Not a great win but a win nonetheless.

5. San Francisco 49ers (7) – Gave Arizona a shot early but then they got some decent D…a good catch or two, some good runs and it was a win.

Staley vs Bloodline

6. New England Patriots (8) – Played badly enough to lose. Aaron Dropson has gotta be the biggest case of stonehands in the history of the NFL. Someone buy that kid some stickem because he is abominable. They amazingly had a gutsy come from behind win that was one for the ages but not one they get much credit for. Any decent team woulda put them away after that last Brady pick.

7. New Orleans Saints (2) – Played well on the road until the last 2 minutes. In the end their ‘vaunted’ offense (heck I have vaunted them this year) couldn’t get 10 yards to win the game and then the D couldn’t make a stop.

8. Indianapolis Colts (4) – What can be said…they faced some powder blues, it was a road game, it was Luck’s first prime time game for Monday night…The Colts basically stunk out the joint. They now face Denver…play better guys or else.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (10) – Solid game played by all aspects of the team in the first half. A late second half collapse lead to OT but they managed to pull out a pretty unimpressive win.

10. San Diego Chargers (12) – Rocked the Colts all night. Strong offense, solid D and awesome powder blues. Let’s see them do it again!

11. Miami Dolphins (9) – on the bye. They now hopefully are getting healthy and figuring out the ‘what’ that was lately wrong and going back to the ‘right’ of the first three games…or this stay in a top 1/3 spot is very short term and they face a lengthy fall with another loss.

12. Detroit Lions (14) – Good D, poor O. Second half Offense was suddenly good and the team won it going away.

13. Dallas Cowboys (17) – Good Offense but D is now suffering severely from injuries and the team is still just not that good.

14. Chicago BEARS (19) – D limited by injuries, shredded by running game. Some effective turnovers created by the D and Cutler was excellent and it was a nice short week win.

15. Baltimore Ravens (11) – D good early. The team simply can’t score enough to win.

16. Tennessee Titans (13) – Gave their all on the road. Simply are not good enough without Locker. A good try.

17. Cleveland Browns (16) – Got it done early. The Cleveland D let them down and although it was a fair try by the OFF it wasn’t enough.

Cleveland Brown

18. Arizona Cardinals (15) – The game was winnable but they let SF pull away. Palmer is just way too Palmer-like to give them a chance to win on the road.

19. Buffalo Bills (20) – Poor decisions on and off the field. Great effort but they came up just short.

20. St. Louis Rams (25) – Jumped to a nice lead, the Offense roared and the D put up points too. A very impressive total team road win by blowout. Well done.

21. Washington Redskins (21) – RGIII showed more finally but sadly he still can’t play D for the Skins…neither can the Skins D. That is their issue. They would have fallen some this week but there are just too many bad teams. They have to take a number and play worse. Maybe next week against the BEARS?

22. Philadelphia (27) – D struggled as usual. A great game by Foles led to an inspired offense that put up the needed points and got them a good win. Now the question in Philly will be how long will a hammy keep out Vick? Perhaps he is being Wally Pipped by Foles now.

23. Carolina Panthers (30) – Blew away a flat team. Their second great game this year. Caaaaaam was terrific. A great win but we really need to see some consistency from the Panthers. Who is this team?

24. Pittsburgh Steelers (29) – They seem awfully old, however, Big Ben got it going, completed an impressive percentage of his passes. His accuracy coupled with decent D play got them a nice win as they schooled another rookie QB.

25. Houston Texans (18) – Offense issues (hint…they suck), D troubles (um…where is that pro-bowl shutdown D?). The team collapsed. They are barely a shadow of last year’s Texan team.

next man up

26. Oakland Raiders (21) – Battled well, early, on the road in a loud stadium. A second half pick sealed it, another Golden turnover that killed any shot in a very energetic KC homefield.

27. New York Jets (23) – gave a good effort early but Geno turned in another ‘rookie’ QB effort. D got pushed around. It was ugly.

28. Atlanta Falcons (28) – It should only be able to get better now. They will be hard pressed to do any worse after their bye. The injury to Julio Jones tho probably won’t help them.

29. Minnesota Vikings (24) – Amazingly flat. Cassel and the rest of offense was bad, the D showed no focus. Outside tragedy was supposed to unite the team and let them gel. It didn’t. It was ugly, they got thrashed and I think I hear Freeman’s cell ringing…anyone wanna trade for Ponder?

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (26) – Offense was well led by their rookie QB but the D was incapable of making any stops. They are rapidly returning to their part of the ‘Bay of Pigs’ era.

31. Jacksonville Jaguars (31) – Played as well as they could. Made mistakes but Blackmon was great, their D was ok. Another game effort by a team who is showing signs of life.

32. New York Giants (32) – Run offense was strong. D can’t cover fast, tall or competent Wide Receivers. Eli’s picks are pure gold. 0-6. They defeat themselves.
