NFL Power Rankings

12. Carolina Panthers – a team that is relying on the health of Cam’s Arm for their success. It is a tough division too.

If Cam has issues – 7-9
If Cam is ok – 9-7
A great year – 11-5

11. Dallas Cowboys – Pre-suspension for the woman beating scumbag RB this team was much higher in my preseason list. Without him they slide because it’s a drop off to the next best.

A rough year – 7-9
Battling year – 9-7
If they can overcome – 12-4

10. Atlanta Falcons – most teams suffer a Super Bowl Loss hangover and this team will be no exception. They still have most of the weapons but teams will be gunning for them and you can’t overlook the concussion their RB suffered early.

A tough year – 9-7
A decent year – 10-6
They come together – 11-5

9. Houston Texans – this team is D and D and D. If either Savage can be ok or they turn it over to DeShaun fast and it works then this team could surprise. Still the D is enough to do some business this year.

If they have little O – 8-8
If they get some O – 10-6
If DeShaun Watson is the real deal – 12-4

8. Kansas City Chiefs – They have built a pretty solid team and the addition of the rookie RB Alvin Kamara could be the spark the O needs.

A poor year – 9-7
A decent year – 11-5
If it all works – 13-3

7. Pittsburgh Steelers – This team is going to score a lot of points and the late addition of Joe Haden at CB gives the D a huge boost. The last hurrah of Big Ben is near but this could be the year for the Steelers.

If they just coast to the Division – 12-4
If they are in control – 13-3
With Haden they are a force – 14-2

6. New York Giants – The Gmen seem to have built a team poised to make a Super Bowl run. The suspension of Elliott pretty much gives them the division. This team could a force.

A rough year – 9-7
A decent year – 11-5
They are a super team – 13-3

5. Minnesota Vikings – I love this D and Bradford has a full year of the offense, better running backs and an improved line. The schedule is pretty easy too.

A bad year – 9-7
A decent year – 11-5
A super year – 12-4

4. Oakland Raiders – This team was great last year and now they add Beastmode and their D got help too. They could give Oakland a championship before they go to Vegas.

A rough year – 11-5
A good year – 13-3
They are unstoppable and just win baby – 14-2

3. Arizona Cardinals – pundits say there are a lot of issues, I say they have one of the easiest schedules ever. Yes they are old but they could go out with a bang.

A bad year – 11-5
A good year – 13-3
They win what they could – 14-2

2. Green Bay Packers – The Pack may be back and this time Rodgers could get his Super Bowl return. It will take a lot of good football to knock the Pack off the top of the NFC heap this year.

A bad year – 12-4
A good year – 14-2
They may just go – 15-1

1. New England Patriots – doesn’t seem like anything can slow them down. They won the Super Bowl, they won the off season, they suffered several key injuries and just shrugged. They have to be favored to win it all no matter what.

They have a ‘bad’ year -13-3
A good year – 14-2
They may just win them all this time – 16-0

There you have it and next up is the regular season!

NFL Power Rankings

1. Dallas Cowboys (1) – The Cowboys had hoped to simply dominate and put away the upstart Eagles. Unfortunately for Dallas Dak Prescott is human. He has had to listen to the ‘Romo is practicing’, ‘This could be Romo’s team’ talk all for the last 2 weeks. He tightened up and frankly he played like a 4th round draft pick today. He made bad throws, he took bad chances. The Boys were able to hold Wentz down but not out as they were caught late and forced into OT. It was actually a gutsy call by Prescott that won them the game. A good division win for Dallas.

2. New England Patriots (5) – A solid start for New England has them in control in the first half. The Pats simply rolled and rolled and rolled here. Brady was fully in control and did whatever he wanted. The Pats D made a lot of dirty hits and it was very cheap. In the end the just rolled over the Bills. A key division win but no way a surprise.

3. Kansas City Chiefs (3) – The Chiefs are in a battle against a bad Colt team. The injury to Alex Smith held down the O in the first half. The Chiefs got it going and put up an insurmountable lead. They fell to prevent but it never put the game in doubt. Another solid win by a KC team that is part of the trifecta of the best three teams in the AFC who are all in the West. A great win over a terrible team.

4. Oakland Raiders (4) – The Raider D looks like it flew across country and not a simple Florida drive as they are having trouble stopping Tampa. The Raiders persevered and began to rip up Tampa D more often than not. The Raiders might have won this easily if they hadn’t set the ALL-TIME record for most penalties in a game. The Raiders tried to self-defeat like a Lion team but they aren’t Detroit so in the end they snuck out another win on the road. This gutsy Raiders team is making me a believer in the Silver and Black again.

5. Atlanta Falcons (9) – The Falcons were at home but played like on the road. The D gave up too much to an overrated has been of a QB who looks best with his head banging off the turf. Matty Ice was able to score every time he had to and it turned into a last team scores wins. The Falcons scored last and they won. The D stopped the sucky Packers and hung a loss on Green Bay. Superb win.

6. Denver Broncos (12) – The story here was the Bronco D. They scored first and they harried and hassled and often cheap shotted on Rivers. The Denver D must have gotten almost ¾ of all the points Denver scored. Once they had the lead and time was winding down they fell into prevent and but for a late stop it nearly prevented them from winning. It was a win over a game Charger team.

7. Cincinnati Bengals (8) – The Bengals were able to be pretty effective on O but the D struggled against a powerful Skin pass attack. The game went back and forth with Cincy taking and giving up a lead until it was tied late and then it ended. Tied. Hunh. What a weird year the NFL is having.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers (10) – On the bye. The good news is Big Ben is nearing a return and that means the season may not be lost.

9. Seattle Seahawks (2) – Good offensive output early and the D got a turnover that was golden for 6 so a good start for Seattle. The Seahawk D slowly started to allow yard after yard in the second half and before they noticed they were trailing. It all came down to Russell Wilson and he got them within 2 yards or so of a win but that still means they lost. A bad loss to a bad team. To not be able to beat the Saints D means the Hawks O is BAD.

10. Minnesota Vikings (6) – I have seen some scary things on Halloween night and one of the scariest is the play or lack thereof of the Vikings offensive line. The total lack of ability set the tone for the utter lack of offense from the Vikes from start to finish. The D that is excellent is getting tired and tired of being all the team has. The Vikes were dominated by a pretty worthless BEARS team. This was a terrible loss and one more and the freefall will begin.

11. Green Bay Packers (7) – Well how ‘bout them Packers? They scored plenty and their terrible D allowed plenty. The Packers even had the lead late and came down to the vaunted Aaron Rodgers making one more drive for the win…he COULDN’T do it. He lost. Rodgers lost. It was his fault and he lost and by the way, he lost. The Packers can only beat teams that aren’t very good which makes them not very good.

12. Arizona Cardinals (11) – They are ‘hung over’ from their 6-6 tie on MNF and are frankly playing like shit. Well it stunk until later in the 2nd half. They were down like 23 and when they finally started to play on O they were too far down to catch up. It was an ugly loss that they earned by not really trying for 35 minutes or so.

13. Washington Redskins (14) – Ok day by the Skins D but a super day by Cousins. The O matched everything thrown at them and but for a missed kick here and there they might have won this game. They tied the game and need to keep up this offensive prowess going forward.

14. Detroit Lions (13) – Detroit is making it necessary to again try to come from behind as they haven’t accomplished much early. Stafford was not able to find his mojo this week. Too much Texan D and no way to answer that. The Lions D didn’t play bad but they gave up enough to lose and down goes a team that had been on a roll.

15. New York Giants (16) – On the bye. Being on a bye made them look better than a lot of team that played badly. Can NYG keep it up by playing themselves?

16. Houston Texans (17) – The Texans have gotten off to a good start on O and D and are early in control. The Texans played their best defensive game in weeks today. They were able to handle anything Detroit had and brought great pressure often. Osweiler wasn’t great but he did enough and they got a good win and now control a crappy division.

17. Carolina Panthers (19) – The Panthers are off to a superb start and playing way above their pay grade. They are really taking advantage of a lackluster Cardinal effort in all phases. The Panthers were able to get so far out ahead that they were able to hold on and win. They played a good day on O but the questionable D looked questionable as Arizona made it close. A bad Panther team wins a game because their opponent gave it to them.

18. Miami Dolphins (23) – On the bye and coming off a couple of great rushing performances from Ajayi. Can they do it three times in a row?

19. Buffalo Bills (15) – Not what Buffalo wanted – Taylor getting dinged on a VERY ILLEGAL hit that wasn’t called and the D has been beaten twice now they must come from behind. The poor Bills didn’t have any ability to stop Brady in the air or even on the ground. They were battered by cheap shotting D and never had a chance and lost a bad one. This hurts them in the wild card more than the division.

20. San Diego Chargers (20) – The Bolts proved again that turnovers are gold. Rivers was picked more than once and the hits he took were severe. They faced a D that plays to the whistle, past the whistle and past when the whistle is retired. They were down from the start but battled as hard as they could. Rivers had a decent day passing give or take his turnovers and even got some good running game involved. The Charger D was decent but the offensive scores they allowed did cost them the game. A tough loss for a team who wins the award for heart.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21) – Winston looking all world and the Buc D is playing well as they lead early. The Bucs found themselves in a toe to toe battle. The O scored some and then didn’t. The D stopped some and then didn’t. It came down to late FG chances and the wind was on Tampa’s side as it went to OT but then their O didn’t play well. The game ended with a bad tackle attempt and down goes Tampa at home. A loss that hurts them.

22. New York Jets (24) – The Jets are having trouble on O and D early but since they are playing Cleveland they should be ok in the second half. The Jets were welcomed by the bad play of the Browns in the 2nd half. The Browns D returned to not tackling and let the Jets roll it up. NY caught em, passed em and held on for a close yet still quite ugly win. It was a quite ugly win.

23. Baltimore Ravens (26) – On the bye and another that looked better by not playing.

24. New Orleans Saints (27) – Saints are having trouble moving the ball against Seattle and stopping the Seahawk O early. The Saints never gave up and kept pushing the ball up the field. Brees overcame a slow start and ripped up the Hawk D and finally got a lead. The Saints Moribund D actually made a stop when it mattered and the Saints win one.

25. Tennessee Titans (28) – On their way early, complete and utter domination. If only they had done this against a BAD Colt team they would be on the way to 5-3. Like they are playing a high school team but doing a good job of it so far. A nice easy win for Tennessee.

26. Philadelphia Eagles (22) – The Eagles and Wentz actually had a pretty good game. They were able to battle Dallas and keep toe to toe with them on O and D for the whole 60. Wentz is certainly capable and the O line performed much better this week. Alas the D got burned in OT and down went Philly. They still look like a 4-win team.

27. Indianapolis Colts (25) – The Colts D has bent many times and broken only once. They may need another late comeback here. The bad Colts played a typical game here. Bad D was all over and to help bury them Luck had a pretty bad day too. The Colts were miserable, are miserable and need a major overhaul at practically every position. An ugly loss.

28. Chicago BEARS (31) – Cutler sucks. The BEARS had a great game defensively playing against a terrible O line. Cutler didn’t turn it over (he does suck) but he did hand it off to Howard well. Jordan Howard is a superstar and that fact Chicago didn’t use him for 2 weeks still makes no sense. The BEARS never trailed and simply overwhelmed what had been the best team in the NFC. Let’s see them beat someone else. Oh, and Cutler sucks.

29. Los Angeles Rams (29) – On the Bye. A team that needed a bye to try to figure out where they go from here.

30. San Francisco 49ers (31) – On the bye and who would have thought not playing would make this sad excuse for a team look better?

31. Jacksonville Jaguars (18) – The days of Jacksonville getting any credit in this poll are gone. I hope for their sake that Cleveland loses again because this team is looking all the world like the WORST team in the NFL. Talent doesn’t mean everything or anything in Jacksonville. Just a Halloween horror show to watch. A very ugly loss.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Another good start for Cleveland. The question is can they play 60 today? Does Cam Newton wear normal clothes after a game? Answer to both is no. Cleveland’s D played a terrible second half and let the Jets roll up the score and Cleveland made it close late but they simply lost another that they led by mega double digits. Another ugly Cleveland loss.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

NFL Power Rankings

1. Dallas Cowboys (2) – On the bye and watched the last best team get whupped and, I never did think I would see this day ever happen, the Cowboys are #1. Can they keep this spot?

2. Seattle Seahawks (3) – It is a good thing Seattle brought their D today as they forgot to bring their O. Russell Wilson’s leg injury seems much more of an issue and they better hope he gets better quicker than the O line improves. The total lack of offense was offset some by a clinic by the Hawk D. They stopped Arizona over and over and held the running game to not more than 3 yards per. Their kicking struggled too and when it came down to it, Steven Hauschka channelled his old North Carolina State days and missed a close one. A tie that they get credit for…a little.

3. Kansas City Chiefs (6) – A very quiet start allowed a TD but then the Chiefs turned it on with D and O and are in the process of blowing the Saints away. The Chiefs got enough ahead that they decided to prevent D it until it was close. The D played well and the O got the points needed but they made it much closer than it had to be. A close win over a bad D and they are what they are which is good.

4. Oakland Raiders (9) – The Raiders are in a fight in South Florida and it is a tribute to their gutsiness that they have a lead at the half. Pretty good Raider D in the first half. The Raiders impressed me today. They again have gone East and ripped the young Jags. Solid play on O and D and they have won a nice game. Well done.

5. New England Patriots (10) – Decent start to the Pat O as they put a couple on Pittsburgh. The Pat D has actually been beaten a bit by the second team Steeler O and the Pats need to find their ‘home field’ advantage on the road as they seem to be going through the motions which is very un-Belichick like. The Patriots were able to get Gronk into the game and added a sealing TD to give them a hard-fought road win. It wasn’t pretty and not very much of a Pat game but it was a game. A nice win.

6. Minnesota Vikings (1) – Bradford has lost his shine and looks like Bradford who played in STL and Phil. The pick was his golden first but the missed throws are just bad. Not much o but a superb D and the Vikings even got a FG from their kicker. They need a little O and they can have this game as the D is playing on point. The D in the end only allowed the standard 13 points. Special teams gave up the rest and then Bradford played like Bradford. A terrible game by the offense and cover teams and down they go. Minnesota needs to shake this off next week or they may have issues in what should have been a signed and sealed division. A bad loss.

7. Green Bay Packers (12) – With a battered QB playing on reputation and no run game the Pack was battered for 30 minutes and could only manage 2 field goals. A relatively legal hit by the D on Hoyer eliminated the BEARS threat and then Rodgers took advantage of a bad secondary to use the short pass as a run game. He set a record for completions but his yards per pass was typically abysmal. They won but they have more troubles than I can count on 2 hands.

8. Cincinnati Bengals (16) – The Bengals are able to move the ball at will but the D is having some issues early stopping a Brown O. They are up a little in a game they should be running away with. The Bengals were able to score several long TDs and the D played just good enough to win this game handily. It wasn’t a blowout but it was a win and that counts – even if it was just over Cleveland.

9. Atlanta Falcons (8) – The Falcons seemed to, for a moment, forget they had to play in this game and quickly found themselves down. Then the dime was dropped and Atlanta started rolling. Solid D plus excellent O quickly put the Falcons well out in front. A late TD allowed has brought the game closer at the half. It will behoove Atlanta to concentrate on playing hard in the second half as San Diego could yet sneak one on them if they don’t. Atlanta put up a nice lead and then thought it would be smart to play prevent D. That simply prevented them from winning the game in regular time. They let San Diego back into it and now have to hope they can pull out an OT win. Well they didn’t have much luck first possession so then, making NO SENSE AT ALL, Dan Quinn goes for it 4th and 1 on his 43 and fails. Way to lose the game. The dumbest Coaching call of the day. A stupid way to lose and it is ALL on the coach.

10. Pittsburgh Steelers (7) – A team without Big Ben was supposed to be lost at home. Give Landry Jones every credit for keeping the team in a game they have no real hope in. The missed FG may haunt them but no more than the TDs the D keeps letting in. It isn’t an ugly blow out but it’s early yet. Whatever magic the Steelers had couldn’t last. The D finally got beat and the hole became so big nothing could overcome it. A game effort by Jones but another loss for Pittsburgh who have to keep an eye on Cincy now.

11. Arizona Cardinals (13) – The Cardinals have had trouble scoring more than 6 points the last two times they played Seattle when at home. What did this time bring? 6 points. Sigh. The Cardinals did have the ball for vast majority of the game but could muster little. When they had innumerable shots at kicking more field goals they were stymied by either illegal blocks or flat out misses. To finish in a tie is a moral victory but not a real victory.

12. Denver Broncos (17) – Denver came out on fire and were able to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Bronco D (cheating around the edges as it is very apt to do) harried and battered their ‘old’ QB all night. Siemian played effectively and hit the passes he needed to. The Broncs were up by 8 at the half and never turned back. The Second half brought more of the same and Denver won an easy one. A nice win.

13. Detroit Lions (20) – The Lions are benefitting from turnovers but need to get more production from the O to keep them in this tight battle with a much better team. A pretty good D first half. The Lions gave the game away with some terrible penalties and D play and all seemed lost. Then they had one shot and credit to Stafford he drove the team for a winning TD. A great win for a team that has now won 3 in a row and are moving on up.

14. Washington Redskins (4) – The Redskins have had all their offensive chances hampered by fumbles but the D is playing well and they are in a very low scoring battle. Cousins really showed what he had with solid second half play. He took the team and scored the points to have a late lead and turned it over to the D. The D did what it has done many times since 2010 – they promptly blew the game and lost it. An ugly loss that diminishes this team significantly.

15. Buffalo Bills (5) – The Bills had some early issues on O but the D played great and kept it going until the O started rolling and now Buffalo is in pretty good shape to squish the fish. What happened to the Bills? The D laid huge eggs. The Bills were sucky in the 4th quarter and gave the game away. A brutal loss that makes me question how good this team is. They need to rebound fast or they are just a mirage.

16. New York Giants (18) – Played poorly first 30 with no offense or D but then a turnover recovery was gold and now they have mo. The Mo was mo-stly on D as the O was fairly shut down and has a ton of issues. They won the game with 4 great golden turnovers and that was key to this slim win. Not much of a win but that is a win.

17. Houston Texans (11) – The Texans once had the AFC South in hand and those days are long gone. They never really had a shot in this game. They could do nothing on offense all night and the D was unable to make the stops it needed to. By early in the third quarter the game was effectively over. The real question is whether Brock Osweiler is good enough to play in the NFL? He is being paid an awful lot of money but he isn’t paying that back with good play. Houston is in turmoil and must wonder what comes next for them.

18. Jacksonville Jaguars (14) – The Jags O just can’t get any sort of work done and the D has bent and broke a little. Unless the O really gets it going they are in trouble here. They never got the O going and this was a tough loss with a quick turnaround to a TNF game. A bad loss.

19. Carolina Panthers (19) – on the bye and they are a team waiting to see just who they are on O and D and this could be the year from first to last for Carolina.

20. San Diego Chargers (26) – Good start by the Bolts quickly fell into disarray as the D collapsed and the O started giving away GOLDEN turnovers. When down to by nearly 3 scores they finally found some more rhythm and now the game is not out of hand at the half. What can San Diego do in the 2nd half remains to be seen. I am still impressed by the amount of heart shown by this old Charger team. They were down but didn’t give in. They battled on and Rivers got them to OT and now they have a shot at stealing this game. San Diego D played a good series and were given a gift by Atlanta. Afterward Rivers, who won’t look a gift like that in the mouth, simply took them down for the winning FG. A gutsy win by a Charger team with heart.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (24) – Poor start off a bye. They were flat against a bad team and found themselves quickly down. Winston shook off the rust and began to take apart SF’s D. The Offense is humming and they could be ready to blow out SF. Tampa was led by the mature beyond his years Winston and he just determinedly rolled over the SF D and put this game on ice. Solid pressure and good secondary play sealed this nifty win for Tampa. Nicely done.

22. Philadelphia Eagles (25) – The Eagles O has met the Vikings D and has managed to put up about 0 points in the first half. 2 picks from Wentz was the extent of their ability. If not for a relatively fluky KR for a TD this would be a shutout. The on and off D from Philly has played pretty good but can they keep it up? The Eagles D was able to stop the Vikings and they put a beating on what was the best team in the NFL. Schizo Philly needs to prove to me they are not a team who is lucky instead of good. A great win.

23. Miami Dolphins (27) – The Dolphins had some early success then the D faded as did their O and this game could quickly get way out of hand. The Dolphins never gave up and poured it on in the 4th quarter and won the game with some good O and well played D. I need to see them win one more in a row before I raise them from the ‘terrible team fluking it’ category. It was a win.

24. New York Jets (28) – The Jets used Geno and he actually threw a TD but was trailing when he hurt his knee. With that injury, the Jets had Fitz and Fitz it is. Now as they live by the Fitz – he got them a lead. The D has played Ok too. The Jets under Fitz got it done with solid O while the D did the job too. A good win for a team spinning its wheels.

25. Indianapolis Colts (29) – Superb Pass O from Luck – perhaps his best half of the year so far. This is combined with a terrible Colt D playing its best game and Indy is in the position to run away with this. The Colts D played like it can in the second half and gave up a ton of plays and lots of points. The game came down to pure Luck. Andrew was good today and he drove his team to the win. A good win for a bad Colt team.

26. Baltimore Ravens (15) – The Ravens O is having issues beating the Jets while the Ravens pass rush has been near invisible. They need to get it going or their fade will become a free fall. Hope they all have functioning parachutes because this team is in a free fall. They couldn’t beat the Jet D and couldn’t stop the Jet O and down goes a team that is just a bad team who won a few early.

27. New Orleans Saints (21) – The Saints thought It was on the way with an early TD but then a golden turnover by Brees and some typical horrible D and the Saints are down down down and may go under for the last time soon. The Saints were able to keep in the game scoring against prevent D but when it came down to it – they failed. The loss was close but it is still a loss for a bad Saints team.

28. Tennessee Titans (22) – Well the Titans had been playing great D and solid O but perhaps they have issues beating the old-time division bully as they have looked bad and are getting battered in the first half. The Titans turned it on in the second half and got in a shootout. The Titans were able to beat the bad Colt D for score after score and had a shot late but their D tired and gave up the lead and they lost. Whatever progress they were making in the division has been knocked asunder with this loss to a bad Colt team.

29. Los Angeles Rams (23) – Had the game in hand with solid D and decent O but then a bad play by an overpaid WR (AUSTIN) and they have lost their momentum and face uphill second half. Keenum picked off 4 times and the O never got anything moving while the D did its job. Is it Goff time? Is Goff any good? We just don’t know. It was a loss that will resonate.

30. Chicago BEARS (30) – The Bears came in with a game plan to play tight D and let the O get them enough points. For 30 minutes this worked but alas the BEARS D rarely has 60 minutes of oomph in them. The loss of Hoyer to injury pretty much deep sixed the O. The BEARS now stand with nothing at QB again. Barkley seems unable to play and that still makes him better than Cutler. Whatever hope they had for being competitive now and again is gone and they can hope for a QB in round 1. A tough loss but not too too surprising.

31. San Francisco 49ers (31) – For a few minutes it seemed like San Fran wasn’t just another terrible team as they got out to a nice lead over the rested Bucs. Reality then set in and the Niner D just let Tampa roll all over them. It will be interesting to see if they try to compete in the second half or will they just fold it up. The Niners basically folded up. They couldn’t contain the offense of Tampa and never could match it either and down went this very poor excuse for a team.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Very good first half of O by Kessler and company and the D has been pushed around but not severely yet. Can Cleveland play another tough 30? We don’t know but doubt it. Whatever shot Cleveland had ended when Kessler got hurt. The D couldn’t stop AJ Green and the O couldn’t score late and down goes the worst team in football again.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

NFL Power Rankings

1. Minnesota Vikings (1) – On the bye and simply awaiting the next victim.

2. Dallas Cowboys (4) – Time for a legitimate…How ‘Bout Dem Cowboys? They are playing on the road in Green Bay and for 30 minutes have basically kicked the shit out of the Packers. I am blown away and haven’t seen a Cowboy team this good since the early 90’s. The little issues with Prescott likely stem from his idiot of an owner telling everyone who’ll listen Romo is starting next week. Why would they take out a QB who has this team on a roll? A great first half. The Cowboys have added a great 2nd half to that mix and have blown away Green Bay in Green Bay. A total team victory and this team is a Super Bowl contender. Unless they replace Prescott with Romo. A super win.

3. Seattle Seahawks (6) – The Seahawk D has taken a page from Denver and is playing dirty with all the late hits on Matt Ryan that are not called. The Seahawk O is scoring nearly at will and this game is close to getting out of hand. The Seahawk O got shut down in the 3rd quarter and even fell behind. The D was scorched for 15 minutes or so too. Then in a nice comeback the O retook the lead and the D made a ‘stop’ *maybe DPI but hey they let them play lots* and the Seahawks win. They are on a roll. A great win.

4. Washington Redskins (8) – A team with many injuries giving their all early. Cousins has played a strong first half and the D is playing hard. A continued effort will be key to their chances of success here. The Redskins were able to overcome a pick 6 golden turnover and put up enough points to pull out a tough division win. Washington is now still not done in the NFC East.

5. Buffalo Bills (9) – Bills managing to keep the Offense rolling early. Decent D too. The Bills have used great rushing O and on and off D to get them a small lead and they have every chance to win this in the second half. The Bills simply tore the game open in the second half and put a forty burger on the Niners. A dominant and explosive win that keeps the Bills on a hot streak and this team looks good. A great win.

6. Kansas City Chiefs (12) – Off to a superb start against the Raiders. The O is working with both pass and run and the D is stifling the Raiders. A great start. Can they put the Raiders away? The Chiefs never had this game in doubt. They controlled on O and D and put away the Raiders. Kansas City looked like a well-rested team that came to play and played well. Superb win and if they play like this they may yet win the AFC West.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers (2) – A very very slow start to the game for Pittsburgh but they are finally waking up. The Steeler D has been terrible and the injury to Big Ben could be the death knell for what was a promising year for Pittsburgh. It’s even money if they can even beat a bad Dolphin team. The Steelers just stunk today. Turnovers, lack of effort and lack of ability shown and they were handily beaten by a terrible team. Pittsburgh has now been thumped by an Eagle team that is no longer looking legit and now by a horrible Dolphin team. The Steelers just are not good.

8. Atlanta Falcons (7) – The Falcons D is being exploited by the Seahawks in all phases. The Offense is getting battered with some very cheap shots on Matt Ryan. Nothing is working for Atlanta and they need to get it going or this will be a blowout. Atlanta really gave them a scare by pouring it on in the 3rd quarter and playing great D for a bit but then the D couldn’t make stops in the 4th and the Falcons couldn’t get it done. They lost a close one on the road in a tough environment and they are still a good team that lost a tough one.

9. Oakland Raiders (5) – The Raiders don’t seem to have realized they are in a tough division matchup here. The Raider D has been beaten over and over and Carr can’t get much going. They need to find something fast in the second half or this will be an ugly loss. The Raiders never got anything going and never were able to find a way through a tough Chief D. They still lead the division after this loss but this is a huge missed opportunity and could really hurt Oakland come tie breakers. A bad loss.

10. New England Patriots (15) – The Pats haven’t come out on fire and the D early seems to have issues dealing with the run. The Pats managed a late, late score but just don’t look like the Foxboro Pats. They need to turn it on or they could be beat at home by the Bengals for the first time since 1986! All is for naught as the Pats exploded in the second half and put the game away. It wasn’t as pretty as it could have been but it is a win.

11. Houston Texans (11) – I have seen some bad QBs and Brock Osweiler is pretty bad. The play of Houston’s O in the first half and in fact into the 3rd quarter and into the 4th was pretty poor. The D had trouble stopping Gore from running (and Luck) and the game looked over. Then, Brock suddenly became the man and in 3 minutes tied the game and then led them on the drive to win in OT. This was beyond ugly and this team isn’t very good but they lead the division and it’s a win.

12. Green Bay Packers (3) – This was supposed to be a battle of two titans and it is not. Green Bay has been not looking good at all on O with Rodgers missing passes badly. The D has been knocked about and can’t seem to contain or cover Dallas. They are down a lot at the half and could be blown out on home field which would be nasty. The Packers just couldn’t get any offense going. Rodgers kept turning it over and just looks like a shell of what he was. The Pack D had no answer to the Dallas juggernaut and this game proves two things. Turnovers are gold and the Packers are bad. They are not what anyone including me thought they were. A bad loss for a team that is just bad.

13. Arizona Cardinals (17) – The Cardinals are consistent…they will throw deep, deep and deep. Most weeks this doesn’t work so well but most nights they don’t face Revis the Vacation Island booker and his cast of misguided wide receiver accompaniers. The Cards were able to do what they wanted and the only time a pass was incomplete was when Palmer missed it. Superb running and catching by Johnson, solid D and playing a crappy team combined for a great easy win.

14. Jacksonville Jaguars (18) – Jags D having issues early but bending not breaking while the O is trying to get over an early red zone golden turnover. The Jags were never able to get the O going and if they can’t get any traction, they are done before the game gets to the 4th quarter. What can I say except the Jags didn’t have quit in them. They kept battling on O and D all through the end and Bortles did just enough to give them the win while Ramsey played amazing D and sealed the deal. A good win by a young team that isn’t dead yet.

15. Baltimore Ravens (13) – Only the fact that Baltimore isn’t all that is the sole reason this game is 28-0 in the first quarter. Baltimore dominating in time of possession early. If Baltimore could only do more than punt, punt, punt they would be way out in front. As it is, they have a short lead at the half and it could still go either way. The Ravens O once more had a shot to win a game and the D gave away a lead and the O couldn’t score and down they went. They just aren’t that good.

16. Cincinnati Bengals (14) – Cincy playing fair D early but the O isn’t doing much although they have had opportunities. Cincy D is playing really well give or take blown coverages. Dalton hasn’t been able to muster much but they are still within reach and a hard effort could win this for them. The Bengals luck ran out quickly and as the D kept letting in points the O couldn’t match them and down goes the Bengals. The late scores against prevent made this seem closer than it was. An ugly loss.

17. Denver Broncos (10) – The Broncos came out uneven and had issues from the start stopping the Chargers O. On the other side Siemian never got anything going and was 3 and out more times than I could count. What was so surprising was how much Denver was dominated physically on both sides of the ball by a Charger team who is down 16 regulars. The Broncos never looked good on O and the D only looked good in the minds of the broadcasters. When they did accomplish something, it was because they were cheating and it still wasn’t called. With this loss I brand Denver a fraud and they are not who I thought they were. They are a mediocre team.

18. New York Giants (21) – Eli is perfecting the 3 and out and it will be a long day if that is all they do on offense. The Giants managed one TD but basically suck on O. They need to find rhythm or they are losing their 4th in a row. The Giants turned on the O late and managed to pull out a win. This isn’t time for parades but it is better than another loss.

19. Carolina Panthers (16) – What used to be the Panther D is still not much and they haven’t got much out of Caaaam early. The Panthers D has been shredded and it is almost going to be prevent D time and anything Carolina musters is because New Orleans has decided to let the score. The Panthers O was solid just as their D was terrible and they lost one solely because the D on the Panthers is just terrible.

20. Detroit Lions (24) – A bad team battling a young team to an early tie. The Lions keep doing what they can to win and what they can to lose the game too. Mistakes and penalties have taken away opportunities to succeed but their bad D is playing a better game and they are in a last team that scores wins game again. The game played out exactly like that with each team trading scores until the end when Detroit scored a FG and this bad team won. They aren’t any good but they have another win.

21. New Orleans Saints (26) – The Saints scored early and their moribund D is able to control Carolina early. Brees is tearing it up and it is but for a couple of overthrows that this isn’t 35 points in the first half. Only a complete collapse will take this win out of the Saints hands. The Saints traded scores and got the last one and that was that. A classic pinball game that New Orleans can win when they play a D worse than their own.

22. Tennessee Titans (27) – Mariota is moving the Titans all over but not getting all TDs so that is troublesome. The Titans are battling bad Brown team and If they can keep the pressure up for 60 they should succeed against a team that quits. The Titans were able to give it all for a full 60 again and just managed to pull out a win. It wasn’t pretty since they were challenged by a BAD Browns team but it was a win!

23. Los Angeles Rams (20) – D has allowed an early TD, will see if the D is the good one or the bad one today. Not much rush offense but Keenum playing well while the D is on and off. Last team who scores may win. The Rams O was great today but that D just isn’t what it was early on and now this loss brings them back to .500 and one has to wonder if they are any good or not.

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (22) – On the bye. Normally a team doesn’t slide having a week off but Tampa just isn’t very good.

25. Philadelphia Eagles (19) – The Eagles are having issues protecting Wentz and that could hamper the O significantly today. Managed to get a TD but the D is not able to stop Washington early while the O line is having tons of trouble protecting Wentz. Wentz was able to get some scores in the second half but not enough to catch Washington. In fact, the pick six they got makes the team seem like it was better on O than it was. A loss by a team fading quickly into its 4-12 persona.

26. San Diego Chargers (31) – The team with heart just won’t quit. Rivers is carrying this team on his back. He drove the field over and over and whether they got 7 or 3 it was enough to carry the day. Superb passing, consistent running, amazing O line play was the driving force. The D played amazing and shut down Denver over and over. It was alleged that it was all Paxton Lynch who made the Broncos play bad. Well this was Siemian and they looked like crap against a Charger D using street kids as corner backs. A gutsy win for a team that doesn’t quit. Well done.

27. Miami Dolphins (29) – Miami showed more life on O in the early going then they have all year. Miami has played their best O and d in the first half and if they can keep it up for 60 they can take down a vulnerable Steeler team. Miami deserves full credit for playing their best game and soundly beating the Steelers. I didn’t think Miami could play this well and it may just be their opposition played really badly but it was a win.

28. New York Jets (25) – It was said in the pregame on ESPN that either the Cards or the Jets could yet get on a roll and make the playoffs. When I got up off the floor from laughing I said to the tv ‘have you seen the Jets Boomer?’ The game started and Fitz is Fitz and that got them 3 points. The alternative seems to be Geno the bum so it doesn’t get better. My solution? Cut Smith, make Fitz 3rd string, start Hackenburg with Petty backup. If Kessler can do it who says Hackenburg can’t? As for the game, Revis is a bum, the D was terrible, the O was bad and they were shredded. A terrible loss.

29. Indianapolis Colts (23) – How Cleveland Browns was this game? Indy played a solid first half and had a nice lead and then added on and had the rush game flying. The D played solidly too. All of this for 57 minutes. Then the O stunk and the D stunk and they went to OT and they stunk and lost. What an ugly loss. What a terrible team.

30. Chicago BEARS (28) – Hoyer is doing a fine job of commanding the O but they need more production; as for the D it continues to be the girl on the hill. The BEARS D pitched a shutout in the first half which is a miracle and the O is getting it done. If the D keeps it up the BEARS may have this game. Alas the D couldn’t keep it up. They started to break instead of bend and they kept letting in scores until they trailed. Then it came down to the offense getting one more set of downs to set up a shot at winning and they failed. Down goes Chicago and this was a team effort at losing.

31. San Francisco 49ers (30) – Niners yet to really explode under Kaep but it may take more than 15 min to get the rust off. Kaep tossed a nice TD and the D has had some good moments. They will be challenged to keep it going against a game Bills team. The D didn’t have much in the second half as it was ripped wide open. The Niners were just blown away and they need to regroup after this severe butt kicking. A bad loss.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Energetic Browns early on both O and D. The Browns are getting some offense and the D has made a few stops. They are still in this game but need to show much more effort late to keep having a chance. Cleveland tried harder, longer than they have all year. They came THAT close to winning. It was a game effort but in the end, it was another loss.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

“The #Broncos Packed Their D” Mr. N’s #NFL Week 4 Power Poll #PowerRankings

NFL Power Rankings

1. Denver Broncos (1) – The Broncos packed their D here. The Denver team just dominated the poor Tampa O. The only thing that was the fly in the ointment was the injury to Siemian. That brought about the debut of Paxton Lynch and he played pretty good for a totally untested rookie. The Broncos just shut down everything Tampa had and put this game away. Only another stupid weather delay held up the inevitable of a solid D dominated win. Another typical Denver win. Best team til they lose.

2. Minnesota Vikings (3) – It is almost a simplistic game plan. Play stifling D, play just enough O and get some decent special teams and win. The Vikings dominated with their D and again allowed their mandated 10 points. Bradford does a fine job just getting the points needed and this team is nearly undefeatable. I don’t believe anyone outside of Denver has a shot against this team. Superb win.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (3) – on the bye, are they for real? Maybe, let’s see them kick another good team’s ass and we will know for sure.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers (12) – Wow, I guess they just needed LeVeon to come back. The Steelers were firing on all cylinders tonight. Superb O led by Big Ben, Antonio and LeVeon – triplets if there ever was a group and dominant D and the Steelers put this away early and just piled it on. The two late garbage scores mean nothing. The Steelers slaughtered the Chiefs and look all world and ready to go again.

5. Green Bay Packers (6) – on the bye, the Pack need to show they can beat handily all teams not named Minnesota. They have to protect Rodgers more and maybe play some D.

6. Seattle Seahawks (8) – A good start on the East Coast by the Seahawks. Decent D and some solid O and they have an early lead in this one. The Seahawks were able to use a gimpy Russell Wilson to maximum effectiveness and the Seahawk O made up for a questionable Seahawk D and pulled out a nice win on the East Coast. A good win but this team, forgive me if you have read this before, HAS ISSUES.

7. Dallas Cowboys (9) – The Cowboys got off on the wrong foot and quickly had their D pushed around and found themselves down on the road. Slowly Dak and the O started to chip away and as the game wore on the Dallas D started to play really good defense. I have to admit I was impressed by the quality of D played by Dallas. With solid O played late and the continuation of the D the Cowboys won this game by just a score. It was an impressive win and now I call the Cowboys a good team. If they can play D like this, they may have a shot at the playoffs.

8. Oakland Raiders (13) – The Raiders are amazing so far. They have brought their game onto the East Coast and are playing good on O and D and have a slim early lead. Can they do this for 60 and not get tired? The Raiders played a superb game for 60 and got a lead and held on for dear life and won a good one. Does this mean the Raiders are who I hoped they were? I need to see them play this hard again.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (14) – Did simply getting the dirty playing scum Burfict back change everything for this team? That may show greater issues in Cincy. However, there was a new tone today. The Bengals dominated on both sides of the line with great pass protection and run blocking and superb pass rush and run stuffing. The game was over quick. They made one coverage mistake that cost them 7 but that was it. Otherwise they ran, passed and played D and kicked FGs and won it handily. A good start…they need to do this consistently and against Pitt and Balt.

10. Houston Texans (15) – Houston is finding themselves in a tough battle with a lesser opponent. Some good O and some problems. Some good D and some problems. They need more consistency in the 2nd half to win this game. The Texans battled and battled and played just enough O and just enough D to sneak out a tough fought win. Well done and now they are in total control in their division.

11. Atlanta Falcons (19) – The Falcons have great pass O and some rush and with a modicum of D they are leading the Panthers handily early. The Falcons O impresses me. Ok, these guys can score and score and score. They are not very good on D but they play D enough to let that high powered offense to give this team wins. They are the best team in the NFC South and this could be their year to win the division. I don’t fancy they can beat Minnesota or Denver but they don’t have to in order to win the division.

12. Baltimore Ravens (5) – The Ravens have had a lot of trouble dealing with a feisty Raider team and their O can’t get much going. Without a better performance from Flacco this could be a long day for Baltimore. The Ravens were in a fight until the last play of the game but their D got beaten just a little too much and Flacco couldn’t get it done. A very tough loss and this might have burst the bubble of a team that seemed better than they are.

13. Kansas City Chiefs (7) – The Chiefs were supposed to be an AFC powerhouse but this game has to give them second thoughts on that. They could do nothing on offense and their D had no chance against a relentless Pittsburgh attack. Almost from the first whistle to the end this game was out of hand. The Chiefs need a major regroup. They were destroyed on national tv and looked bad too.

14. Carolina Panthers (10) – Carolina has played better D. But for a pick 6 the D has been pretty bad especially against the pass. The O is doing ok but they are trailing in a hostile environment. The Panther’s vaunted D got hung, drawn and quartered. Would anyone believe a Panther D would allow a 300 YARD receiver and a 500 YARD passer? It keeps being said that this is a great D on a great team. It used to be a great D. Great D’s don’t allow 500 yards passing. The Panthers are falling fast and are not the team that lost the Super Bowl…they are not what they were 8 months ago.

15. Los Angeles Rams (23) – The Rams brought out their D today and I have to say I think week 1 was just the aberration. This D is for real. They have come together and they dominate a game. Superb pass D, terrific rush D. The offense isn’t amazing but they do enough to get it done. This is a lesser man’s version of the Vikings. Solid win and this is the BEST team in the NFC West.

16. Washington Redskins (17) – Cousins has looked sharp early with great affinity hitting Reed for TDs. If only the Skins D could stop the run, they would be in control but they are in a battle thru the first half. The Redskins D finally got better and managed to shut down the Browns in the second half as Washington got a win. It was a tougher fight than they probably thought it would be but it is a win.

17. Buffalo Bills (22) –A super start for Buffalo. Able to dominate on D and get effective O and the Bills are up 13-0 on the hated Pats. Can they keep this going? I don’t believe so but we will see! The Bills played great D and ball control and rolled up and defeated their hated enemy. A great shut out win that Buffalo will need to build on and maybe yet they can save a season that has been sliding downhill since New York. A great win.

18. Jacksonville Jaguars (24) – The Jaguars were winless with nothing to lose but home game concession revenue. They came out fast and Bortles got the O going with excellent passing. By the time the 2nd half started the Jags had the game pretty much in hand and after this dispatching of the Colts they may even start to think they can save their season before it slips completely away. A good win.

19. New York Giants (16) – The G-men had hopes of being a quality team. They met a buzz saw in Purple tonight. The O was shut down and pummeled by Vikings and when they had a chance to make key stops themselves they couldn’t. The OBG side show is getting silly. If he can’t perform then his antics are not really put up able! The Giants fell to earth and are staring up at the Eagles again.

20. New England Patriots (2) – Darth Vader is meeting his on Luke Skywalker early here. No Offense at all and the Pat D making mistakes has the Pats down almost 2 full scores. If this continues like this *highly doubtful* I think I will laugh very loudly. The Pats were beat and SHUT OUT at home by Buffalo. It appears that Belicheat just decided the game didn’t matter. I can’t believe it but it seemed like New England just quit and they lost. Ugly. Sure Brady is back but he can work them back up in my poll because quitters get dumped in my books.

21. Arizona Cardinals (11) – The Cards were in a blood bath from the start against a tough Ram team. Palmer tossed a red zone turnover and that was 24k gold and killed whatever chance the Cards had. The D had issues stopping the pass and the run. There were times when Gurley just rolled through them and that made me shake my head. I had said pre-season that this team was my odds on fave to go Super Bowl. That was wrong. This team is bad. They are 1-3 and are a deserved 1-3. I am of the feeling they are not good and will not make the playoffs.

22. Miami Dolphins (18) – Well it is not fun to play these Thursday night games and playing on the road basically dooms a good team. So this didn’t work for Miami at all. They had O line issues last Sunday and they continued. No ability for Tannehill to get any rhythm and he got battered. The Dolphins just laid a huge egg and were dominated and lost badly but it was a Thursday game so not much was expected.

23. New York Jets (20) – The good is Fitz isn’t turning it over every play but the bad is the D is getting beat and the O can’t keep up. This could be over early in the 2nd half. The game never really got close to being a Jets game. They couldn’t stop the Hawk O and whatever Fitz could muster, half the picks of the previous week, wasn’t enough. Hope the Jets get used to Ls as they have a lot of them coming in the next 4 weeks. A bad home loss.

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21) – Poor Tampa. Jameis got schooled early and often at home. No chance to complete any or do any effective hand offs. The Tampa D got beat just enough to put them down so much not even a thunderstorm could save them. They have been hit by a storm and the storm was the Bronco D. An ugly loss.

25. Indianapolis Colts (25) – The Colts tried to take this on the road and it didn’t work in England either. The inability to cover receivers is bad in any time zone. The Colts D had no answer to the Jag O and Andy Luck couldn’t get enough out of that poor excuse for an offense to get them back in the game. A hard division loss in a foreign country that will give them nothing nice to think about as they face the BEARS instead of being on a bye week. Stupid NFL. Hardly fair.

26. New Orleans Saints (30) – The Saints came out hot and Brees got a quick lead. The terrible Saints D even played decently for a bit. Then reality set in and the usual started. Brees scores, D lets in one, Brees fails, D lets in one. The Saints fell behind and then as it rolled on they fell 2 scores down with time running out. Brees led them on one great drive and then got the ball back and did it AGAIN. The D managed to let San Diego defeat themselves and New Orleans has a win. They suck but they won’t be 0-16.

27. Chicago BEARS (31) – The Bears under the inspired leadership of a real QB (Brian Hoyer) played solid O and the D had their best game of the year. But for a complete brain fart on Special teams the BEARS had the Lions well and truly beaten. The end result was a nice win and if they can just keep Cutler off the damn field the Bears just might win a few. A good win.

28. Detroit Lions (26) – The Lions got destroyed by a fierce D and had no answer to that all day. The D was beaten over the course of the day and never were able to stop the Bears when it counted. They got a lucky kick return and that made it closer than it was. They were soundly beaten and are suddenly the worst team in the NFC North. A bad loss.

29. Tennessee Titans (27) – Titans are giving all they have and are actually tied against the Texans as the first half ends. A pretty good effort, the question is can Tennessee muster this for 60? The Titans actually played another solid full 60-minute game but they were just THAT close to tying it late but couldn’t get it done. A game effort and I believe this shows the team isn’t as hot a mess as I thought. They are a luke warm mess!

30. San Francisco 49ers (28) – The Niners came out hot and Gabbert was able to put up solid numbers and get TDs early. The Niner D held for a bit but time, attrition and lack of talent took its toll and soon they were tied and then lost the lead and when it came down to it Gabbert couldn’t make the plays needed and down they went. This team is just not very good.

31. San Diego Chargers (29) – The Chargers came out and laid an egg early. The Chargers couldn’t get any early traction against a universally terrible Saint D and the Bolts were down 2 TDs. Well the Chargers managed to wake up and started to play O and even a little D and they got it tied. The 2nd half brought solid O and at one point the Chargers had a 13-point lead with under 5 left and one would think that would be safe. Nope. What is amazing is how fundamentally unsound the Bolts played in their last 3 series. It was like they no longer cared and they blew the lead and threw away a shot at getting a winning FG. The ugliest end to a game I have seen in a long time. San Diego, you suck.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – D had issues early but tightened up late in the first half. Kessler is a revelation at QB. An underappreciated college QB who can play effectively in the NFL. The Browns O used a great rush O to storm back and tie the game early. The Browns again couldn’t play 60 and when they could put themselves in control, they turned over the ball – that is golden – and down they went. A team that just plays under a black cloud.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

“#Jets live by the Fitz and die by the Fitz” Mr. N’s Week 3 Power Poll #NFL #NFLThoughts #PowerRankings

NFL Power Rankings

1. Denver Broncos (1) – Continuing to play solid D and despite some really inaccurate and poor throws by Siemian they are battling well. The Bronco O went off and scored with some great passing late and the D turned it on and put this one on ice. The Broncos continue to roll and now one wonders if they can be beaten. A super win.

2. New England Patriots (2) – The Pats had everything against them and no chance to win. So what happened? Darth Vader flipped the script and his O was great, his D amazing and they blew out Houston and won. They are nearly impossible to beat at home and it makes no logical sense. Good if hard to understand win.

3. Minnesota Vikings (4) – Had a slow start on O and D and only a safety to show they were even here until a punt return TD. The Vikes need to get the O going and they could yet win this game! The Vikings used special teams and D scoring and superb D play to put away the Panthers. A fantastic road win over a powerhouse and that makes them a powerhouse.

4. Philadelphia Eagles (18) – Wentz has done it now. He has torn apart what had been an upcoming D and the Eagle D is playing really hard. The tackling is sharp and the coverage is tight. Wentz is a revelation and he is the real deal and the Eagles are now a top 10 team. Superb win!

5. Baltimore Ravens (10) – Raven D still looks stout and Flacco is doing just enough to get the points needed to combine with that D play to keep them in control. The Ravens struggled on O and just managed to play enough D to keep it close and then they got a clutch late FG (imagine how that feels Minnesota???) and they won it. A pretty poor team that is 3-0 and are this season’s Atlanta as they are no way this good and have a hard fall coming.

6. Green Bay Packers (8) – I don’t care if Aaron Rodgers throws for 12 TDs in this game, he and the offense are still not what they are supposed to be. The D is playing well against a bad Lions team and they have a nice lead. The Packers put it away but their bad D made it awfully close. A win but they are not that good.

7. Kansas City Chiefs (14) – The Chiefs have played super D and their ability to get the ball from the Jets is the difference maker here. The Chief O has been very productive and Alex Smith is really pitching a nice ball today too. A great effort by the Chiefs and they now have asserted themselves as the next best thing in the AFC West after Denver. A good, solid win.

8. Seattle Seahawks (15) – The Seahawks roared out of the blocks and had this game over before San Fran could even put their cleats on. The D has been dominant *best game so far* and the O has been very productive. The only negative is the injury to Russell Wilson and that will in the end determine how much of a win this blow out win is. A solid win.

9. Dallas Cowboys (16) – The Cowboys were able to run a full contact practice on national tv and it went well. They just ran up and down the BEARS and it was much more of blow out than the final score showed. Be that as it may, this in no way means the Cowboys are very good. Let’s see them win against a tough team.

10. Carolina Panthers (7) – The Panthers are playing solid D but not getting much O and are in a battle after a special teams error. This could be one that goes down to the wire. The Panther O just had no shot against the fiercest D this side of Denver. The Panthers just couldn’t score and down they went to a better team.

11. Arizona Cardinals (5) – The Cards O is doing so little it’s like a whisper while the D is playing like crap. WHAT THE F****?????? Well turnovers are GOLD and Carson Palmer has the Midas touch. They had good pass D but couldn’t’ stop the run and they let in so many rushing TDs that it was impossible to come back. The special teams mistakes helped put them down. An allegedly talented team that got thumped by a way less talented team. Sad and confounding and a bad loss.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers (6) – What in the ever loving hell happened to the Steelers? The lack of effort on O and the porous D has the Steelers utterly buried and now they just have to hold their nose until the final gun sounds. The worst game a Steeler team with Ben and Tomlin have played in years and they should be ashamed. An ugly UGLY loss.

13. Oakland Raiders (13) – The Raiders are struggling with O and D and seem to be unable to make it work on either side of the ball. This game could be one where the last team to make a basic drive wins. Late surge against sleepy D and suddenly the Raiders are in control. The Raiders battled and battled and bent on D and very nearly broke but held on for a close win. Don’t plan any Super Bowl parades as this win may mask that this team still has issues.

14. Cincinnati Bengals (9) – The Bengals still seem to be bungling the ball and the play and are in a tough fight with the Broncos. Their D is not able to slam teams down like last year yet and we are 2.5 games into the season. The Bengals had more trouble stopping the Bronco O and before it was even near the end they were so far down this was done. The Bengals are the Bungles and they are stumbling down to Cleveland levels.

15. Houston Texans (3) – The Texans might as well as not even have gotten off the bus. It didn’t appear they did. The O was shut down, the D was battered on the ground and in the end this was a first class butt kicking. Houston needs to find itself and one day they need to beat New England in New England. Ugly loss.

16. New York Giants (11) – Absolutely kicking the crap out of a pitiful Skins D and this could be a 50 burger if it rolls like this into the 2nd half. The G-men battled all through the second half and kept taking and losing the lead and when it was on the line, another turnover (which is gold) cost them the game. A bad loss and their vaunted D didn’t look very vaunted today.

17. Washington Redskins (21) – The D is being shredded. The one shot that had at a pick was dropped by the self-proclaimed best corner. If they can’t play D it doesn’t matter if they play O. Cousins turned it on and got the Skins back in the game. They battled all 4th quarter and when they had a shot they took the last lead and their D sealed the deal. A great win that they may build on.

18. Miami Dolphins (20) – Inconsistent play with some good O and then bad golden turnovers has the Dolphins in a fight with a Brown team that has plenty of issues and a rookie QB. The Dolphins got themselves a double digit late lead and then gave it away and went to OT and managed to hang on and win what was a pretty badly played game all around. It was a win.

19. Atlanta Falcons (29) – The Falcons had a gas as they played against a D that couldn’t tackle or cover and guessed so wrong they let running backs jog into the end zone. It was a blowout. It would have been bigger but the Falcons D does suck and that made it just a hair closer. A win but come on, anyone could gather 11 people and beat the Saints D.

20. New York Jets (12) – The Jets live by the Fitz and die by the Fitz. The 4 turnovers by early in the 2nd half are pure gold *as always* and you combine that with D having issues and this game is actually more of a blowout than the score shows. A bad loss and now the Jets start playing a bunch of tough games so this could be very ugly soon.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (17) – The Bucs were able to go toe to toe with the Rams for 3 quarters. Solid if not great O and ok if not amazing D and they traded score for score. Then the rule – turnovers are gold – took over the game and the almost back to back turnovers have turned this game and only a miracle can save the Bucs from a tough loss at home to a team they should have schooled. The Bucs are close but have been lightninged to a long delay and with 2 minutes left can they somehow come back? The Bucs drove the field and in the end went splat and lost. Oh well.

22. Buffalo Bills (30) – The Bills will claim gassing their OC has bred this but I think it’s just being done with mirrors. Out to a huge early lead. Can they hold it? They Bills held, put more on via special teams and D and running the ball. A super relatively easy win for a Bills team that now needs to find some secret mojo if they want to beat Darth Vader next week. A great win.

23. Los Angeles Rams (26) – The Rams have been amazing on the road today. Right from the start the O was able to match everything thrown at it and the D has been able to just keep them in the fight until 45 minutes were up. A solid couple of golden turnovers now has the Rams in position to steal a win. Can they hold on and win it? They have a small lead and a long weather delay but can they come back from an hour plus wait and win the last 2 minutes? They did it. They held on but couldn’t have done it if Tampa had either used the clock better or threw one in the end. A win but an odd win.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars (23) – The Jags are not able to get much if any O early but may have a tiny something going late. A pretty weak first 27 minutes for this team. The Jags didn’t give up and started using their young D and even took a late lead. Sadly, they just missed by that much AGAIN. Being really close and 0-3 is a bad combo and this team is sinking fast.

25. Indianapolis Colts (31) – The Colts had a slow start on O but Luck turned it on and have allowed Indy to play with a very game Bolt team. Can Indy’s D make enough stops to give Andrew a shot at winning this? Well the game came down to two plays. A huge bomb to TY Hilton and boom the Colts have a lead and then one heck of a golden turnover and boom the Colts have a win. Ok they are 1 and 2 but no they are not a challenge for the AFC South unless Houston loses both to them and perhaps even then I wouldn’t buy it. It was a win.

26. Detroit Lions (22) – Leave it to Detroit to play badly, turn the ball over in a golden fashion and generally play stupidly and give Green Bay the sense they are still a good team. Same old Sorry Ass Lions down by a ton before the half. The Lions Bad D and poor play gave them another loss. They defeat themselves as much as anyone beats them.

27. Tennessee Titans (25) – The Titans are not able to do much on O or D and are just stumbling through a pretty tame first half. They made it worse by taking the last 2 minutes off and now the Titans are in a hole. The Titans are interesting as they go as far as their interest level and Mariota can take them. He either drives them to a win, like last week, or he makes terrible decisions and they lose like this week. A team that needs a ton of help. An ugly loss.

28. San Francisco 49ers (27) – Whatever minor success they had week 1 is gone and off down the street. The Niners have no D and no O and Gabbert is doing his best to get Kaepernick another shot at starting in the NFL. An abysmal effort and they are well and holy blown out no matter what the final score is. A bad loss.

29. San Diego Chargers (28) – The Chargers D played good and not and good and not while Rivers struggled to get production. Will wins out and San Diego started to put up points and has them in a very close one. It may be last team scores wins here. The Colts D let in a huge pass completion that cost them the lead late. Then with one drive for them to make magic they turned it over and that was golden. A hard loss for a team that gives all they have with an injury stripped roster.

30. New Orleans Saints (19) – Pitiful, awful, rotten…no not describing a certain Republican candidate here, I am talking about the Saint D or lack thereof. They couldn’t keep up with Atlanta scoring as Brees has some issues but my goodness this is the worst D in the league. The BEARS have an excuse with their injuries…what is the deal here? These bums are healthy. A rotten team whose D is sinking them faster than New Orleans after a big rain.

31. Chicago BEARS (24) – The Chicago BEARS were a team with a chance at 9-7 before it started and 8 of their 11 D starters got hurt. The only injury that helps is Cutler and that sonuvabitka is trying to get back fast. This team, with no center, no feature RB now, no D is not surprisingly getting pummeled wherever they go. A lost year. Here’s hoping they get first pick and land a QB. Oh yeah, they got blasted by Dallas but Hoyer didn’t suck so yay?

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Not getting much from rookie Kessler but they got 7 from the D and they need other forms of production to keep in this game. The Browns battled back and had a shot 20 secs left to steal a win and of course in Browns fashion, missed the field goal. They then lost in OT. What a dark cloud over this once long ago proud franchise. Sad.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!

Mr. N’s Week 2 Power Poll #NFL #NFLRankings #football

NFL Power Rankings

1. Denver Broncos (1) – The Broncos have been uninspiring at offense but the D has kept them in it and a late pick 6 *pure gold* has then nicely out in front with not much left to play. They just need to hold on to be 2-0. The Bronco D just put the game on ice with another defensive TD. A great D with a mediocre offense and that is enough for them to be undefeated so far. I guess I have to see them lose before they fall in the poll.

2. New England Patriots (3) – Pats tearing up the Fish early and this could be over by the half. Blowing Miami out in handy fashion but the injury to Garoppolo could be significant in the next 2 weeks. They may yet be in trouble unless Belicheck is even smarter than I think he is. The Pats turned to the ground and ran and ran and held on to just sneak out the win. If Jimmy G is out on Thursday then they are in serious doo doo against Houston.

3. Houston Texans (6) – Good first drive killed by a Red zone turnover which is solid gold. The Texans are struggling to get a lot of points and the D isn’t what it is supposed to be so far. They don’t have this in the bag yet. The Texans D controlled the game from that point on and Brock O did just enough to get the Texans a good win. The Texans are doing their part to be in the hunt in a competitive AFC South.

4. Minnesota Vikings (10) – A fantastic game played by the Vikes. Solid D just set the tone from the first quarter on. Sam Bradford didn’t blow the doors off but he was excellent for just 6 days practice. He made long throws, stretched the field, kept the ball moving and even threw 2 tds. The loss of AP doesn’t actually hurt the Vikes at all. He has been largely ineffective when he played and anyone can get 30 yards be it McKinnon or Asiata. The Vikes are going to be fine with that D and Bradford and that D. What a super win by the best team in the division by far.

5. Arizona Cardinals (7) – In control from the start with superb offense and excellent defense. Palmer has shredded for TDs. He did make mistakes but got away with them, which was lucky. Excellent D has destroyed Tampa and this is, was and will be a laugher. A great, easy win for Arizona.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers (9) – Weather having an impact, a tight battle to start and the Steelers take an early lead. The Steelers D is impressive. Their young CB Burns really stepped up to beat AJ Green to a TD. A pretty good half but they need more O. The Steelers used a great run game and overcame some weather aided turnovers to pull out a gutsy division win. A hard fought one that puts them in the early driver seat in the AFC North.

7. Carolina Panthers (8) – Caaaam can’t throw picks and expect good results. The Panthers seem to be dominating the game in all but a wide score. If the game proceeds like this then I would expect Carolina to put this away. The Panthers pulled away and put this game away. It was sloppy with turnovers galore but they got an ugly win to start the turn around on a w.

8. Green Bay Packers (2) – The Packers tried to come out and play typical Packer ball and Aaron Rodgers found he ran into a purple wall. Stopped time and again early the Pack could barely manage to get anything going. Only when a bad penalty gave them field position did they finally break through. As the game wore on Rodgers had no answer for the Vikes D and he was sacked, pummelled and picked. The Packers were outmuscled and overwhelmed by the best team in the NFC North…the Vikings.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (4) – Struggling to get offense working early. The Bengal D is showing its stuff and that is keeping this close as their O is just not getting it done early. Cincy fell too far behind to be able to fight all the way back. They got within 1.5 possessions but couldn’t finish and one has to wonder about the veracity of the Bengal D after the first two games.

10. Baltimore Ravens (14) – Getting slammed by the Browns early. Are Baltimore really as bad as I thought they were in the preseason? Well here comes the Ravens. They have stormed back and are now battling and I will not be surprised if they win this one in the 2nd half. The Ravens put this game away in the 2nd half and are a pretty surprising 2-0 but again I have some real doubts about how good this team is.

11. New York Giants (20) – The G-men shut out early by a bad D, makes one scratch one’s head. I am dumbfounded how this game is a low scoring thing. How are the Giants not taking apart this bad D? What will the 2nd half bring? The Giants had to fight tooth and nail to just be in the spot to pull out a late win. They are a pretty lucky 2-0 and although they are leading the East they are not really classy and I need to see the O work after stumbling against a BAD Saint D.

12. New York Jets (16) – The Jets showed a lot last night and the only impressive parts were the W, Forte’s performance and Brandon Marshall getting up off the deck. Revis is done, Fitzpatrick is the only QB who can be held to one TD and it be said he was Namath-esque (I credit for that stupidity). The Jets won the start 20-7, lost 3 minutes 17-0 and then won the last 27 minutes 17-7. They can proudly say the won week 2. If they win one of their next 4 I will be surprised. They are not a good team.

13. Oakland Raiders (5) – The Raiders have had trouble stopping the Falcons. The O struggled to get going early but have come on late and are now in a see saw battle. Will take a lot of guts to pull out this one if they can. The Raiders just didn’t have it this time. The D just couldn’t get it done and in the end they let in more than Oakland could score. A bad loss for a team that now is back looking up at the Broncos. Will the Raiders take the next step or is this just another year?

14. Kansas City Chiefs (12) – The Chiefs are giving it although playing really shorthanded today. The Chiefs are having trouble getting points but the D is bending but not breaking They could yet win this game if they have another 2nd half rally in them. The Chiefs didn’t rally, they didn’t have the O today and they went down to a Texan team that just out muscled them. A loss.

15. Seattle Seahawks (11) – I cannot believe how bad the Seahawk offense is. They have been stifled by the sad sack Rams. Their vaunted D has been unable to hold down LA and they have not gotten TDs but they get FG after FG and since they can’t score any points it doesn’t matter. I can’t believe how bad the Seahawks look. They are not a good offensive team and I don’t know if they are very good at all now.

16. Dallas Cowboys (27) – Elliott first TD gives the Cowboys an early lead. Not a great game by far but very mechanical and just getting enough done on O and D to be relatively in control at the half. This was an ugly game for Dallas. This late come from behind win is nice and all but it doesn’t make them all that. They have issues on D and on their alleged good O line and Elliot is this generation’s Tiki Barber for ball handling. Ok you won. You aren’t playoff bound yet.

17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (15) – Well I guess Tampa can’t travel very well either. Their young and getting better D has been schooled by a tough team in the NFC. Winston didn’t have an answer and they have been pummeled. An ugly loss to hopefully just forget about.

18. Philadelphia Eagles (25) – The Eagles came out very workman like and were held to FGs for the first half and then they got it going with some quietly decent Wentz play and some solid rush O. The Eagles D held down a bad Bears O and the Eagles O put up the points and this game was over by early in the 3rd quarter. Good win for not a great team.

19. New Orleans Saints (18) – The Saints shut out early by the G-men. Hmmm. The Saints are not getting any O from Brees but their D is really playing above their heads and they are trailing. Game still potentially theirs if they can score some. The Saints played D way over their head but had trouble scoring and in the end they lost the game by missing a cover on a long pass. A tough loss but 0-2 for a team with this many issues isn’t where you want to be.

20. Miami Dolphins (19) – The Dolphin D has no answer to Tom Brady…or Jimmy G or anyone in a Pat uniform. The Dolphins have been battered and beaten and this is probably over but the somewhat cheap shot on the Pat QB may have the Pats in longer term trouble. The Dolphins got a lot of points in what could be called garbage 2nd half possessions and they brought it close but lost. The game was not actually as close as the score and Miami is not very good.

21. Washington Redskins (17) – Cousins still looking troubled with inconsistencies and not getting any offense early. The Skins finally got on the board but unless their D really picks it up, especially against the run, they could be in for a long afternoon. Cousins and the Skins brought it hard in the 2nd half and gave as good as they took and for a while they almost had this in hand but they let in the last score and down they went. They are now not the class in this division and probably will finish 3rd.

22. Detroit Lions (21) – Stafford is making the O work but not getting points but the D is playing well. The Lions are back in their self-defeating ways. The Titans try to give Detroit the game and Detroit penaltied themselves out of it. They need to be more disciplined in the 2nd half. Well how did that happen? The Lions were stopped by the Titans much too much in the 4th quarter and in the end their D didn’t get it done and they lost. This is a hard loss and makes one question the viability of this team now.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (13) – The hopes of the Jags appear to be a year early, even by me. Good young teams need to learn how to travel and play well and Jacksonville hasn’t taken that course yet. Turnovers have been pure gold and that and penalties and missteps and they are on the receiving end of a blowout. They are not the Texans and I think Houston can breathe easier now. An ugly loss.

24. Chicago BEARS (22) – The Bears were all set for this game and then it started and it all fell apart. Cutler couldn’t lead a hungry dog to a steak dinner. He played poorly and then poorly and then he got a little hurt and he threw a pick *or he threw a pick and said he was hurt* and however close the game was at 30 it was all over by 60. The Bears D had a good front 7 *now 2 of those guys hurt* and no secondary and those bums are healthy. It was an ugly prime time loss and the BEARS I hope are shooting for the first pick and they can get DeShaun Watson to play QB.

25. Tennessee Titans (28) – The Titans are having trouble on both sides of the ball early. The Titans are really struggling on Offense and would be well out of this game if Detroit didn’t let them off the hook over and over again. What a gutsy and surprising win for Tennessee! I don’t think I can remember when the Titans fought back, took lead and then held on. They pretty much played 60 and won. Hunh. Let’s see them win another.

26. Los Angeles Rams (29) – Well the Rams can’t do much on O but the little they could do was enough. Who would think 3 field goals would be enough to win a game? The D has so little talent it is beyond amazing that they have shut down Seattle. A great win for the city of Los Angeles but this team is NOT great.

27. San Francisco 49ers (26) – Unable to get 7 on a red zone turnover but still trying hard this week. The Niners do not seem to be all that this week and are having problems with getting much out of their O unless they have a very advantageous field position. The Niners got beat down but battled back to make it closer. Turnovers destroy a team that is less talented and lost a game they didn’t have any business being in in the first place.

28. San Diego Chargers (30) – The Chargers exploded out of the gate and took over the game with solid O and D. Unlike week 1, they never took the foot off the gas and just have kept pouring it on. For a team without a lot of talent this is an impressive win and maybe this terrible group can build on this one.

29. Atlanta Falcons (31) – The Falcons have brought a solid offense give or take a bad Matty Melt pick and their D bends and breaks and bends again. Late in the game they have a small lead and the question is can they hold it for a road victory? The Falcons got their victory with their D not being much but Matty melting Ice got it done and put the game away. A good road win for a not very good team.

30. Buffalo Bills (23) – What can I say about the Bills? They had trouble establishing the run. Tyrod Taylor looked great with his throwing and running. The D seems decimated by injury and suspension. Stephan Gilmore was torched over and over. The D has huge issues and this 0-2 start will lead inevitably to an 0-4. Good news is they should be 2-4 by week 6 which will be 1 game better than the Jets expected 1-5 so yay Buffalo??? A bad loss.

31. Indianapolis Colts (24) – The Colts have been having great trouble getting points against the Broncos but Luck worked every trick he had. With pure verve and gusto, he managed to get the game tied. Unfortunately, he learned what everyone already knows…turnovers are gold and his pick 6 may have sealed the game. Does Luck have one more comeback in him? Nope Luck had a fumble that turned into a Denver TD so that didn’t help a comeback. A bad offensive day for a team that needs to get all the O it can to have any shot. A bad 0-2 team.

32. Cleveland Browns (32) – Beyond amazing start for Cleveland, McCown is playing great. Then he got dinged up and the Browns have stalled and now are fighting to somehow keep ahead in a game they were leading by 18 early. The poor Browns had this game and lost the lead and couldn’t score again. What a terrible loss that will just rip the guts out of the Browns fan base.

There you have it, as always I would love it if someone just reads all the way through my ramblings and also will accept money, preferably tens and twenties! Any thoughts, comments, arguments or agreements are always welcome!
